His point was that Turley was no more qualified to give a valid opinion than the man in the street, and that the FBI guy stopped working for the FBI 24 years ago and was also unqualified to give a professional opinion on the current FBI.

It's always interesting to watch a good lawyer ply his craft in cross examining a witness, whether it be in the courtroom or in congressional hearings. The question that occurs to me is why were these witnesses here and who knowingly exposed them to cross examination from Goldman? It's witnesses like these that have brought down MAGA lawsuits in flames because they don't seem to have a clue on what the heck they've been called be witnesses for or against.

I feel so sorry for the witnesses that MAGA had brought them here to be dragged before the country by a very well prepared opposition. It's really hard to watch how either witnesses were made to look like utter clowns by the very effective questioning by Goldman. I'm neither a Democrat or Republican, but I'm beginning to doubt these hearings are have any serious purpose. Surely, Jordan must have known Democrats were not about to make this a walk in the park on a sunny day for these witnesses. Why subject these gentlemen to such public dragging?

This line of questioning is establishing the lack of credibility these witnesses have. They haven't worked for the government in any relevant capacity. SO they don't know what their talking about. Not good witnesses for the Committee

Notably with the retired FBI agent, the question was over if he worked for the FBI. Yes, as an Agent until 1999 and as a Consultant since then. The congressman would ignore, cut off, and dismiss the consultant work and make the individual appear less credible than they actually are. The jab about the book was also to insult and imply the retired agent was only there for profit.
Gamy gam gam, Dan absolutely established that the man's credibility on these matters was shaky at best. he left the FBI 23 years ago FFS and did'nt even seem to know what a smartphone was.

He is old, and took a lower stress job to consult the agents on training, policy, and other consulting tasks. As for the phone, the question did not show the retired agent did not know what a smartphone was. It only showed that he did not have to handle smartphones as an agent. Again this ignores his career as a consultant for the FBI after he retired as an agent.

Well, prior to Trump-I remember rarely ever hearing Americans bash the men & women in the FBI… they do a lot of very important work! Free speech is absolute. You have the freedom to say you want to kill someone. That is a dumb statement to say otherwise. You do it all the time playing games.
The ACT of coordinating an attack or credibly threatening someone is the illegal action. It’s not saying you will murder him. They do that all the time in MMA hype matchups.
Even harassment. You can say something to someone, but the intentional act of engaging in repetitive threats is what is illegal.
It’s the planning / actions associated with a statement that make it more than speech and escalate it to a threat or harassment.
Every democrat congressman said trump was Hiltler. Should they all be arrested for harassment? Or is it that they didn’t have the associated actions around the speech that would elevate it to harassment.

You can say it all you want if it is empty threats with no intent behind it. That could create suspicion that would invite a warrant, but the speech is protected. The ACT of sending, mailing, or verbally communicating intent to do harm IS illegal if there is intent behind it.
Look at 18 U.S. Code § 875. Intent is required. That is because threats are a specific ACT and not just speaking.
The mailman one you use, same thing.

Knowingly and willfully are mens rea. Intent. Plan. Willfull ACTION. Just touching them is NOT ILLEGAL.

Absolutely not without the mens rea. If you are protecting yourself it is self defense and perfectly legal.
Heck, if you just THINK you are protecting yourself but are wrong, like if someone pulls a realistic fake gun on you as a prank and you are not in “real danger” it is self defense.

IOW, what you say is not illegal, but the methods you speak it in are.
You have freedom to paint a picture, but not on someone else’s property. The speech is free, but the action is not.
