Uh I would like to know what you think that he doesn't want to come out. Hunter Biden sat there and told them he would testify in public. All I keep hearing from Republicans is oh it doesn't work that way, we always do these behind closed doors, which may or may not be true. But they could waive the rules and let Hunter testify publicly. I wonder what they don't want to come out publicly. Because behind closed doors they can twist the story any way they want. I absolutely agree but the problem is that each person only gets 5 minutes to ask their question or make a point & Hunter’s answers factors into those 5 minutes. So he has an opportunity to waste time with the clock counting down with creative ways of not having to answer the questions & dodging them, like a lot of the people who get questioned by the other side in Congress. With the depositions, it’s with a lawyer for hours, so it’s he’s going to have a harder time not answering the questions. Now if there was a more fair way, then I’d be all for it being done in public and I think rules need to change so it is more fair. I don’t trust the closed door thing either since we don’t get to see it.

No, it's not what is in the deposition, it's the time lag after the deposition and before it is released. That lag allows for spin or outright lies by either side from members who hear the testimony.

Depositions are never conducted in a public setting. They are out-of-court sworn testimony, involving only those who are privy to the information gathered in the discovery phase. Deposition transcripts, like all pretrial materials, are confidential and only enter the public record if all parties consent or if ordered by a judge after the trial has concluded. Though, even if a deposition transcript is entered into the public record, there will likely be numerous redactions.

To me I can see one side if someone is wrongfully prosecuted the media can make a spectacle of something that shouldn’t ever be, such are the trails with Trump. And many others. Depositions are property of the lawyers that conduct them. They are out-of-court testimony with no judge present and never conducted in public. Typically, the transcripts aren't released.
