Being a life long resident of 65 years in Oregon, I am ashamed of Wydan. He doesn't even live in Oregon. A fix to a serious problem, already paid for with money in the coffer seems like a win for everyone. The problem is that they always want to attach items, pork, to bills. This would be a stand alone bill! Every bill should be voted on as a stand alone bill! No more thousand page bills they don't read!!
He actually lives in the Laurelhurst neighborhood in Portland, and I have talked to him shopping at the Hollywood Fred Meyer several times. Of course, like all Senators and members of Congress, he maintains a residence in Washington D.C. as well. Go figure!

he is probably doing this because Oregon is working to abolish all private health insurance and only have state insurance cover all and by all they mean people who crashed our borders and are here illegally. They passed a bill to guarantee heath insurance to all whether they can pay or not are legal or not. When they cut the pay to doctors doctors can not afford to accept medicare patients. Patients lose their doctors. It makes medicare an inferior plan then. Private insurance companies will not cover anyone who is not in the state legally....so it looks like Oregon will shut down all private insurance and bring in the state controlled monopoly and many in the state are gung ho for these terrible ideas.

My parents have medicare and my dad has cancer. He got an ultrosound done among others tests and his medicare was billed for part of it and then my dad was sent a bill for $3050.00. My dad is an 84yr old and he does not have that kind of money. The amount of money the hospitals are charging is through the roof. And then these senators in congress some try to help and others just could care less..
The hospitals charge more because everything COSTS more! Do have any clue what those machines cost? Do you know how much the techs are paid? Do you know how much it costs to run those machines? You DO know how much power costs, but do you know how much that machine uses?!?

Yeah and this is why everyone’s medical treatment is shit all this money we pay out and the treatment is horrible and I don’t even have Obamacare or Medicare or Medicaid. But for some reason everyone keeps asking me if I have Medicare????????? Maybe this explains the lack of treatment or concern and unable to get in for a test.
I am a physician. A surgical specialist that does very complex surgeries. Some of these are only done by me in the state I live. If there are any physician payment cuts in the CMM payment schedule, I'll stop seeing M/M patients. Enough of this nonsense. I'm sorry for the patients. These patients are taxpayers that have been hurt by incapable politicians year after year. I completely agree that every single politician should have to use Medicare. They would fix it immediately.

There is no "speaker" in the U.S. Senate, the House of Representatives has the 'speaker" of the house. In the U.S. Senate there is a majority leader ( unfortunately Chuck Schumer is the current majority leader) which the Democrats (Communists) currently have the majority.

Please put all elected officials on the same benefit package as what everyone has to deal with once they get on social security. Period. This is our tax dollars paying for all of this.
Actually Medicare is cheaper and pays for more things than my Union job's insurance ever did. I only get a small bill once they are done charging Medicare, and there is no lifetime limit.

Their paycheck should be inline with the pay scale of the people they are representing in their state. This will allow them to FEEL what the common citizen feels related to pay.
Additionally, they and their family cannot be able to buy stocks from any business they regulate during their time in office.

The $$$$ for Covid never made it to THIS Physician who worked in small, Rural critical access Emergency Room’s in Louisiana (until I got Covid XMAS 2020 and medically retired). We were understaffed, few nurses, no backup whatsoever. I got no overtime, no sick time…just 10 days off and sent back to work without retesting.
Wyden is one of our embarrassing Portland area vote ins. The rest of us think he needs to retire. You rock, Sen. Kennedy!

If congress prepares and passes bills that affect most citizens then THEY SHOULD ALSO have to be subject to the same. In other words, they should be subject to the same Medicare/Medicaid as every single citizen. They should be required to maintain the exact same health insurance or social security rules. There should absolutely be NO DIFFERENCE in benefits or rules as those they pass for citizens EVER.

Congress has "DC Health Link" an employer-sponsored plan. The premium is deducted from their paycheck. They aren't getting anything special in terms of medical care.

John Kennedy is the lawyer that I would want to defend me if I was indicted for a crime I didn't commit for which there was overwhelming circumstantial evidence against me. As a one time Insurance clerk for Dental offices, I know that Se. Kennedy is absolutely correct in his description. I also say a time in the past when doctors and dentists all across stopped taking any MediCal and DentaCal patients and went to all cash/ no insurance offices because the payments were so low, they would have gone bankrupt by accepting the Fee Schedule the government mandated. The only place patients could get care was at hospitals who were forced to take them. Some hospitals then went out of business. It was a mess in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
Senator's pay should be based on the cost of living in the state which they represent.
To represent the residents of the state, they are required to live in D.C. area part time.
Congress should get the same raises and Medicare benefits as s.s. recipients.

I find it odd that he is worried about doctors getting paid but he couldn’t care less about how much people with no insurance have to pay. They are always worried about rich people getting paid but never worry about how outrageous the bills are to begin with. I don’t care if they get paid less.

I helped my sister make out the paperwork for Medicare. It cost our Seniors a quarter of their monthly SS payment. Then the Congress approves bills for the insurance companies to set codes so they have more control over your medical treatments. The insurance company doesn't have a MD license. Doctor's know the procedure their patients needs. Why do insurance companies have control over patients care.
Cause they want to pay the least they can, so your parents die faster for not getting the treatments they need, and instead, fill them up with chemicals that give relief for one symptom and cause them 20 different other illnesses

It should never have passed in the 1st place, it forced most private clinics to sell the practices to big hospital corporations because they could not afford all of the changes to programs and equipment required. The cost to clinics was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars was required but not paid for or assisted in any way from the government that pushed this through. I know this because I personally know several doctors who lost their clinics to this bs.
I absolutely agree. I'm sick of pain almost as much for my insurance premium that I do for my freaking mortgage with less coverage and sky high deductibles and out of pocket expenses since these so-called affordable Care act was enacted. The government needs to quit wanting to be involved in every aspect of everyone's life and remember their place and that we pay their damn salaries.
It’s been a serious cancer from the minute it was enacted. One of the worst health bill ever. Abolishing it entirely is a much better solution than reforming it.

@@adrianperez3088 Nurses, securities, etc, benefit from this. It isn't a direct check to the Doctor's, but to the clinics / hospitals, and they use that money to pay to keep people employed and the lights on at the clinics and hospitals.
How can you really think that only doctors would benefit from this?
For the record, many doctors are middle class as they make less than 250k a year. There are many people in the tech industry that make more than doctors.

Not just them, but ALL FEDERAL workers, including their staffs. Remember Harry Reid bemoaning that their staff could not afford the 40% tax on Cadillac insurance they get? All cried that staff could not afford the lunch in cafeteria? (Lunch bag is what I did my entire work career. No Starbucks either. )

are correct in the convoluted, complicated system involved in the Medicare system. But, the bigger the system, the more complicated- that's how the VA works, to, and its also broken
30+ years working in “managed care.” More confused now than ever before.

VA don't even get me started on them. They are the most laden down with paperwork then they are the care and wellbeing of the veteran.They are so busy seeing who they can charge(money) then care for.
29 years ago I attempted to get ankle surgery through the VA. The system was so broken, I was given the runaround for 5 years. Now I'm too old for surgery due to a bad knee. I did get 100% disability that only took 19 years.
Separate the canbabus users. All that money let the sickies pay for their own sickies.
