The reason was they found a laptop that was thought to contain new evidence against Clinton. After the election it turned out that there was nothing in the laptop that the FBI did not already have. This violated the standing Doj policy of not making announcements that could interfere with an election. The same policy that Trump is trying to use now in order to avoid prosecution

Rudy took his unaltered copy to Russia and returned with multiple corrupted versions of it that included more terabytes of information than Mac Isaac had given to Giuliani on his original : Don't take MY word for it! This is according to Mac Isaac himself! (One of these altered versions was given to Steve Bannon).

Let me clarify it for you: because she published an article about a hard drive she received from Giuliani, who everybody knew was working with Russian spies, without fact checking it, Twitter suppressed wide distribution of the story for 24 hours because they didn't want to be complicit in a Russian disinformation campaign. Republicans are claiming that that is proof that the gov't was suppressing free speech. Goldman is saying that they are incorrect in that assertion.

The people writing the story never had access to the laptop and could not be sure that the hard-drive Giuliani provided them with was the real deal. If this story was about Trump that would be enough for every single one of you clowns to dismiss it in a heartbeat as 'fake news'.

So all of her statements to this kangaroo hearing about how "it was suppressed" and "it decided the election in favor of Biden" should be called into question if she was more than willing to write an article based on such flimsy information. Releasing this story after the election was likely a purposeful strategy by the post because the hype inflated its value.
Also, she was willing to lie about it saying the Post verified the laptop when they clearly didn't. So if you want to be an objective observer then you should note that as well.

No, he pointed out that although the laptop is real, the journalists never had access to the laptop. They had access to a dodgy hard-drive that Giuliani wouldn't let anyone examine too closely.
He said there was a laptop, but then confirmed that the writer never had the actual laptop or the original hard drive for the laptop. He inferred that the hard drive that the reporter used to write her story had been altered. And she could not confirm or deny that. So, his point was that she used bad second hand information to write her story.
in earlier hearings, he completely denied the existence of the laptop.. yet in the Twitter files, it showed that the FBI reached out right before an election asking Twitter executive to limit the Outreach of people talking about the laptop, and any information about the laptop as misinformation. Claiming that it did not exist, while the entire time for an entire year the FBI had the laptop in their possession and was hiding it. There might have been a need for a more thorough forensic examination of the HD if the alleged owner denied owning it or denied owning the files contained in it. But Hunter never denied it because he can’t.

What’s funny is there was a poll (unofficial, unregulated, but a poll nonetheless) that said somewhere around 19% of Americans would have voted for trump if they were aware of the hunter laptop story. Which would have swayed the election
I give you a thumbs up. But remember, that "election" was a farse. Remember how, in a less than 15 minute span of time, those five states stopped their counting the overwhelming vote count for Trump, and mysteriously all five ended up going to Biden? Remember? Because Americans already hold their government in contempt for shenanigans-past, it should be as no surprise, then, that there was no rioting in the streets afterward. We just don't give a damn about our government--"they" have lied to us, for so long, so intensely and with such profound sternness that nothing the unelected power class does or says surprises us.

Mr. Goldman has a habit of intimidating people, but I must admit he is lucky that he will never have to cross examine me because I will not tolerate him or anybody intimidating and I hope my comment is read by his office or his people. He is a little high on himself but I notice that when he is asking people they tend to not answer him in an assertive matter therefore, he wins.
