    I'm old enough to remember watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon, I was 7 years old. That was a monumental achievement for mankind. It's so strange that today so many people don't even know this happened. What's more, it's arguably an even bigger milestone for mankind then the first man on the moon. But they take no notice because they're too busy watching stupid Tik Tok videos.
    Bravo to Elon Musk and all you crazy Spacex folks that proved everyone wrong. You made history and we are so proud of you. Congratulations on such an amazing achievement.

      As a 24 year old, I am brought to tears by this. It's sad that so many don't see this as anything special, or even know of it at all.

    You know, in my 68 years I've seen a lot of amazing things. And this is definitely in the top ten, maybe the top 5. Not quite landing on the moon and walking around on it, seeing the shuttle and the ISS. SpaceX booster landings that paved the way and now are an almost daily occurrence just in the last 5 years. And I've seen a dozen of those. But simply WOW! Oh, Magoo, you've done it again!!!

      Plus the Mars rover that descended a few years back and landed on the surface by a clever hover and drop method.

    I love how at 7:56 you can hear the Hot stage ring sonic booms as it splashes down just off the coast

    • @cometman100

      I heard that too, that's what I thought it was. The hot stage ring will be on the 1st stage when it returns on future fights.

      Im surprised that it makes 2 booms. Maybe the complex geometry with the venting grids does it. With the booster im guessing it's about the same as Falcon, where the grid fins make 1, the engines create another, and on falcon the body itself generates a 3rd shockwave.

    • @scythelord
      @scythelord 2 дні тому +3

      @@Jaker788 There will always be at least two booms from most supersonic craft. You have the shockwave from above and the reflected shockwave from the ground closer to the craft. there is a delay between the two. You aren't hearing individual shock waves from parts of the craft as those invariably are too close together and would meld into a single shock wave since their timing would be milliseconds apart, but a shockwave that traveled an angled path to get to you will take significantly longer than one that traveled directly.

    • @darkfur18
      @darkfur18 2 дні тому

      @@scythelord while normally true, I should point out that it takes 200ms for sound to travel the distance between super heavy's engines and it's grid fins

    Beautifully filmed. Even though I know how this ends and I’ve seen it a few dozen times now, I still hold my breath as it comes screaming in towards the tower, it seems almost impossible that it’s going to be able to slow down in time. Wonderful that on this historic occasion you had a beautiful clear day for recording it. Just stunning!

      To be fair, that goes for most phones with their tiny sensors. The only thing that can save it is newer sensors that hopefully get dual gain mode for wide dynamic range, it's a fairly recent feature on some Sony sensors.
