Well, I disagree with you. You can totally hear the difference when Phil is playing, more clean sounding with less confusion. His son has a lot to learn from his dad but like someone else said average drummer right now.

I hate to admit I enjoyed watching these instrumentals more than the videos where Phil is singing, simply because he is in such rough shape. Bless him for being out there and doing his best, but as a Genesis fan for over 45 years, it's just tough to watch him now, knowing what used to be. But I am glad Phil didn't go the way of one of my other prog rock idols, Keith Emerson, when he realized he couldn't play any more.

I would have to agree the instrumentals are the best. And nice to hear parts of cinema show in there they have not played that in years. And Phil's son is playing just as well as his dad did.
And don't forget except for the 1998 tour.
This is first tour since the lamb lies down on Broadway with just one drummer.

No doubt, the best band ever. Beetles, greatest, but stuck in an era, Genesis has no era, Their music is timeless and will be listened to much longer as time goes by. Old Genesis is so British and still feels futuristic. That music is still ahead of it's time.

It is true that his current condition has limited him a lot. But his Love and his Soul were there, in front of everyone. In front of his beloved audience. Phil is a great man. And his teammates have shown him a lot of love. They are all magnificent. Remember Phil Collins, with his usual voice. He will always be remembered. And Genesis as a team will not be forgotten either. Remember Phil Collins, the way he wants: As the happy, sentimental, emotional, understanding, playful and friendly man he always was. And like the man, with the sweet, beautiful, harmonious, sentimental, emotional and powerful voice. That voice that gives you strength, if you are fallen. And it calms you down, if you're desperate. That's the Phil Collins we should remember. And thank today's Phil Collins for all the artistic and musical legacy he has given us. GENESIS BAND!!! GENESIS FAMILY!!! FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER!!!

@@pawebielicki3353 I get the sense that Tony and Mike didn’t realize how good Nic is. They knew he could play, otherwise they wouldn’t have done the tour. But I don’t think they realized he was this good playing their songs live.

@@harlowethrombey7665 I agree. I remember that Tony and Mike ( especially Tony) at began approached to Nicolas with a distance. In one interview, Tony said that they made him play No Son Of Mine and Land Of Confusion (the simply songs). When they saw that Nick played those songs well, they went doing tour. Agree, they probably didn't know how he is good.

There was something special about Phil behind the drums. He was free flowing and hooked into the music. A lot of other drummers seem very rigid in comparison, including Nick, as if they're playing by numbers in a very formulaic way. Real shame he can't play. The twin drum set was always a big part of the live show and to see Phil struggling to even sing is crap. I don't think they should have done this. Oh well, one last hurrah for the boys.

I must say i am a big Génesis fan, and Mr. Banks is my fav keyboardist ever, but... Today there are keyboards recreating the old Génesis sounds in all his Glory Im thinking about digital mellotron , clonewheels or new and reliables and powerful analog synths. Don,t know why Mr. Banks refuse them and play keyboards with poor character. He sounds every tour more ordinary.

Great to see Phil’s obvious pride for Nic, but to be honest I feel that all the praise for Nic here diminishes the absolute legendary performances and playing by Phil in his prime, which is light years beyond Nic. Yes it it cool to see Nic up there with his proud Dad, but to me it’s blasphemous to compare his performance to Phil back then.

    • @gabrielstern4992

I understand what you are saying because Phil was amazing as a drummer but nic is definitely like his dad when he was a young man even the way he holds the drum sticks but people forget Phil's oldest son Simon plays drums also but Simon also sings which nic does not.
I think it would be cool if they did one more tour with nic on drums but have Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett do it and let Phil sit out and just do Peter Gabriel Era songs.
      Since Phil healthwize is shot.
