    This use of cling film is a great, less messy way of decoupage especially on a flat surface! I have several different shaped pieces of ply wood and intend using some as dog-lead holders. I did find by using a glass base rather than wood, the cling film stuck more firmly without creases, thereby ensuring the paper on the wooden plaque was crease free. I'm experimenting with using 1 layer of serviette and 2 but using 2 means only the bottom layer gets "stuck" to the cling film so you have to add the top layer to finish. One coat of varnish and appropriate hooks and I've got myself a nice little cottage industry! Bless you for sharing! xx

      Thank you. I didn't have the success I hoped for when varnishing the napkin! It looked lovely unvarnished but as a Lead Tidy I felt a coat of thin varnish would toughen it somewhat. Also, the comment way below about the atmosphere being contaminated by the cling film being softened was a good point and one I wish I had read before as my eyes became very sore for several days after doing the Lead Tidy''s and my nose quite sore inside. The formaldehyde did effect the atmosphere.....x

    • @TheMagnoliaHousewife

      I’m so glad you liked how it turned out! You typically do put mod podge either a Matt or a gloss or semi gloss over the top of the napkin to finish it off. However, I wanted mine without anything on top so I didn’t use my podge on the top. I just used saran wrap from Walmart for my plastic wrap. Hope this helps. I know yours will be beautiful! Take care. :-)

    I was wondering if you think this can be done on a glass cutting board. We use them more as a counter saver so typically I just wipe them with a washcloth. So I was wondering if it can be applied on the underneath.

    • @TheMagnoliaHousewife
      @TheMagnoliaHousewife  6 років тому

      I don’t think it would work underneath something. If you applied it underneath the cutting board you would only see the back of it with the saran wrap melted to the cutting board. Take care. :-)

    • @notebookluvr
      @notebookluvr 5 років тому +1

      I think you would just have to reverse the napkin. Turn it so the front was against the saran wrap. Try it and see how it goes!
