  • When the gel medium is allowed to dry completely, this paper will provide a VERY clean transfer. In addition, I had no printer jam problems, as can sometimes happen with thin photo transfer paper.

    FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS:
    Q. "Can I re-use the paper?" A. You can, as long as it's relatively straight and feedable for the printer.
    Q. "What printer do you use?" A. I use an HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color.
    Q. "Does this work on painted wood?" A. Yes! Just be sure the surface is dry and free of oils.
    Q. "Does this work with inkjet?" A. For some people, it does. Results may not be sharp - there may be some bleeding of ink.
    Q. "Can a protective finish be applied?" A. Absolutely! I prefer to use acrylic polyurethane.
    Q. "My print is smearing / not sticking to the paper? What's wrong?" A. This can usually be fixed by adjusting your image brightness, which affects the toner density. Check out my "Fixing Photo Transfer Problems" video for instructions.

This works for transferring to resin! Get a 1st layer down.. do the gel medium transfer(s).. wait 24 hours and get the next resin layer down. It’s amazing! I also make up colorful resin swatches on deli paper and then add them in here and there around the transfer -or in the 1st layers of resin or any of the layers. The deli paper cures invisible but the color looks as if it’s floating in between layers. Especially cool with transfers of steampunk gears keys clocks .. or whatever the art pieces are that time. Instead of buying all the pieces (gears, cogs, clocks, Roman numerals or whatever) we can print them out and transfer them like you demonstrated here.. and just buy 1 or 2 main things as the statement pops.
Crafsman.. sharing your knowledge is a gift to the world. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art! 💙💯👌

When this video was released those labels cost $5 and some odd cents they are now priced at almost $11 all right you want to print onto the shiny side of the paper you will notice it's kind of messed up and the number one question I probably get asked is Craftsman does this work for internet this particular technique I'm going to show y'all is for LaserJet printer color or black and white I have a feeling that it might could work for this particular paper that it might could work however I have a strong feeling that it might be having tendency to bleed if you willing to experiment give it a try and let me know in the comments however but I know for a fact that it works for lazy so you want to find you a design printed on the shiny side and then you'll be ready to roll you want to apply the liquitex and an even film I like to do is I like to start out with a little bit probably more than as necessary and then work it in work it down do it work it down into a thin film but then under film The quick it is it'll try and the more clear that your payments will be disagree time to reflect on your day and think about how things have been going think of all the good things that I've been did in your life of all your blessings and all the things that you are thankful for this is when you can think about that take your friend in my case I've already got to cut it down to the right side and you want to care for it lay it down into position now what I would suggest is once you start to get it down don't move it too much or even at this stage it could already smudge the tone of particles so you want to be really careful and get away you want and then take your time and y'all know what you got to do about the Bubbles if I do you got to you I know you're necessary I know y'all serve a purpose but right now if y'all could do me just a little favor and just ease after the edges and y'all go hang out there in the atmosphere because we don't want we don't want no bubbles up in our house right now all right

Dear Crafsman, I love you up to lumps. I'm a picture framer by trade and often we use self adhesive foam board to lay down posters and photos to make extra smooth. The release paper to protect the foamboard is often discarded. I think this may be a FREE source of glossy substrate to use for this process. Just ask a local framer if they use the self adhesive foamboard and if they could keep a few of the surface papers left over for you to try. I'd give it a go right now but my printer is busted.;) I reiterate, you are Ace-Pants.

I used to do this (only to copy a stamp to regular paper) but very stupidly, with a plastic sheath I cut out, and it always got stuck in the printer so i taped it down to a normal, paper, worked kinda but this method seems much easier and with less paint-loss. Gonna have to buy some stickers or print labels..

    • @emislive

@@a_aron4786 most inkjets (especially at the low-end) use soluble dies. In addition to problems from the surface tension of liquid ink (the droplets really don't want to lay flat on waxed paper), these are susceptible to bleeding and running, particularly on porous materials. The dies also fade under UV exposure.
Pigment-based inkjets exist, and shouldn't bleed or run, but you need to look for them specifically. Most budget color laser printers will do a better job for less.

I made use of this technique recently when found an old CD labeling kit in my cupboard. I took all the sticky paper off and ran the shiny paper through my laserjet. Once I had an image I was happy with I used an old electric travel clothes iron to 're-activate' the toner and transfer it to a aluminium (aluminum) plate I'd prepared earlier. I wasn't sure if it would work but it came out well. Once the image had transferred I used several coats of clear lacquer to fix and seal it to the plate. This video gave me the idea to try it, so thank you for the inspiration.

I LOVE that at the time of release this channel had 15k subscribers. In Oct of 2018 there are now 68k subs and 3700 comments on this video alone. a true testament to the appeal of the nature of this channel. I am NOT a crafter, but I am definitely going to be doing this out of respect to the creator. who knows? maybe I'll convert and in the process find some time to reflect on my day an' think about how things have been going . =)

I watched this video 3 various times. The 3rd time I did it right along with you Mr. Craftsman. As I reflected on my blessings I thought of my dear friend Rollin whom we had ‘adopted’ each other (not legally) he became my father and best friend, my sons grandpa. Every time he would get a haircut, he stopped and picked up the boys and they got haircuts and pizza afterwards. He made every school event and was there for every celebration or emergency. I was a single mom with no family around. I lost my mom when she was 49 years old due to cancer. My father lived many states away due to being a long haul truck driver, his parents died when he was 8 years old due to a cement truck accident. My grandmother on my mom’s side passed when I was in kindergarten also due to cancer. Rollin was my family…he always wanted grandkids but his daughter didn’t want kids. My middle son named his first born Rollin. My friend Rollin needed a double lung transplant and at a million dollars per long and waiting list and prescriptions that cost him more than his house payment, well at 76 years old he felt it was his time and that he lived a good life. His favorite saying was “How can I pray for you, with you?” He was a man of his word…he walked the talk. I am forever thankful for him…I miss hiking, going to the plant nurseries, the holidays and long hours on the phone talking about anything and just inspiring me to want that type of character instilled in myself and boys. I’m feeling blessed as I ponder on all the great times we had.
Back to our project Mr. Craftman; I used a very old mailing sheet that pulled off probably 50 labels, the surface wasn’t as shiny…not sure if it was due to old labels, or a different brand, which I used Avery and Varathane ultimate Polyurethane water based. The time I wrote the second paragraph in this message, it started to peel back on its own…I put a very thin layer and the can says “fastest dry time” I didn’t expect this since you stated 45 minutes, it took less than 10 minutes! I used a Brother Laser Jet Printer that was recently purchased.
Thank you Mr. Craftman, your definitely a blessing and you never know what someone else may be going through, and your kindness and teachings have blessed me. Thank you so much!

Hi. This video gave me a lot of good info. The material used is exactly what I used. In the beginning it was always a hit or miss. Craftsman I know this is an old video but I wanted to update the process you used with what worked for me. A J roller to spread the paste and after it dries before you peel it, squirt water on the paper with a spray water bottle until you see the print show up then peel away softly pulling parallel to the board and not up. Guaranteed good results at least for me every time I did it. Thanks for the video.

I buy those labels because they are the exact size needed for the USPS Print n Ship postage. I keep a supply of the "if it fits it ships" boxes from the post office. They will even drop the boxes off for free at your home with your regular mail! Then when I want to ship something I use the USPS website to buy and print the shipping label. Then I can just drop it at the post office or even schedule a pickup. This is an amazing use for those backing sheets I've been throwing away!!! I could listen to you talk for HOURS! You should have a podcast where you read the daily news, it would make it far easier to deal with. LOL
