    Best, best, best ever! Thank you. So glad there’s actually no need for packing tape. My granddaughter and I have a decoupage date today and I want to use my scrapbook paper but then everyone cautions about bubbles and wrinkles. Good to know. Then everyone is doing the tape trick and I am thinking that is going to be tough for a 9 year old, especially if she wants to begin to decoupage at home on her own. So I kept looking and found your video and I am thrilled. Thank you for taking the time to share. 😀

    Can't wait to try something like this! Last year I made slice ornaments and the paper bubbled and creased. Thank you for the paper dampening tip!!

    LPT: instead of having to outline and cut paper perfectly to fit, just do a rough outline of it, apply to paper to the wood with mod podge, and when it dries use gentle sandpaper around the outline. It gives far better results, and is so much eas. Even works with napkins.

      👍🏼 Thanks for the suggestion, I like my results and think they’re perfectly fine the way they are. They end up really cute with a subtle distressed edge. Just the way I like it. 😊

    You can use a brayer to smooth down the paper. Mod Podge makes one.

    Thanks kate ;-) just the video i needed. I have just got a whole heap of wood items here in Australia and was wondering how to put paper onto the wood. Off to the craft store to pick up some mod podge. Now come christmas or any kind of events i am going to look for wood items i can turn into my own designs to match my decor thanks

    Could you pre-paint the wood so the sides are white before adding the paper?

    • @kristy137
      @kristy137 2 роки тому +1

      I usually paint after I mod podge. I like to distress so I get my paper on and dry then I'll sand and paint.

      I bet you could! I haven’t tried it but in my mind it seems like it might work out 🤔… give it a try!

    Great video....I'm watching here in the UK. I was looking for a video like this for a project I'm working on. I have a couple of questions to ask so hope you don't mind answering.
    I want to put my own paper print outs onto wood where as your sheets were bought with a finished print and seem thicker than a normal paper. Do you know the most suitable weight to use since standard printer paper weighs anything from 80-100gsm. I'm certain that spraying or wetting the back would crease or damage the paper compared to using a thicker paper. The water would more than likely soak through immediately although I havnt yet tried it out. Have you tried with different paper weights and got any different results?
    Secondly, I have only ever mod podged tissue paper on wood in the past. I have always had the odd dust particles or tiny hair that ends up sticking to the paper. I don't see these things whilst gluing but they show up later and by that point I can't remove them. Are there any ways to avoid this or is it just part of the decoupage/mod podge process that you have to accept?

      Hi there! I'm not sure of the process for putting a photo onto wood but I know there is one! Just search here on YT on google and I'm sure you'll find it!
      As far as the dust, I have found some on mine and catch them in time to pick them out with a pair of tweezers. Beyond that, they're kind of stuck in there.

    I am watching your video for the first time and you’re great!! Is that waterproof? Let’s say I am using this idea for a different purpose like coasters

    • @domesti.kate.d
      @domesti.kate.d  Рік тому

      Thank you so much! I don’t think it would be water proof. I could see it being a little repellent due to the mod podge layer but not if water stayed on long enough to soak through that layer.

    So cute! Did you use a wipe, or a damp paper towel?

    • @domesti.kate.d
      @domesti.kate.d  2 роки тому +1

      I just used a baby wipe! Before wipes I lightly sprayed a mist of water onto the back and then wiped it with a dry towel.. that worked but the wipe is so much easier!

      I buy the packs of 12x12 cardstock paper. I usually buy the big packs with seasonal designs but they have all kinds! In most craft stores, usually by the scrapbooking stuff!
