I bought a ham hock a few days ago when it was on special but had no idea how to cook it 😅tried your recipe just now. It was wonderful! Thank you Julie 😊
Instead of green split peas I use a (half) packet of Soup Mix. It has various coloured split peas; black, borlotti and red beans; pearl barley; lentils. Soup doesn’t have the green colour but lots of flavour and probably a bigger range of protein and vitamins.
Bought mine today 800g beautiful meaty hock for $7.50…..I added carrots, celery & bay leaves (no green peas)….the total cost was $10aud for 6 delicious hearty serves 👍🏻

Great video, very helpful and had all the information I needed. Thank you!
Love your cooking and absolutely love you! I've watched you in masterchef both times, hehe. Keep calm and cook on!
Looks and sounds nice and easy, l'll try this one.
Thank's for the recipe.
Good recipe, just what I needed for my hock and soup mix. No fuss no blah blah blah. Good on you! Thanks!
can you use left over Christmas ham
Made for a cold, wet & gray London February weekend...... delicious! Thanks!
Thanks Jules, great recipe for an old bloke like me to follow 😊
Celery instead of garlic, a hock and bacon bones., sweat veges first. Add cubed potatoes 2/3 rds through.
No.
Would you not put the bone back in with the ham and then remove it later to maximize the flavor from it?
I don't take the bone out at all
Sometimes we can't get a ham hock only smoked bacon offcuts, then we need to add a chicken stock cube to boost the flavour.
i have the ham bone from CHristmas which i plan to use as soup still meat on it so it works well
Nice
Easiest and best recipe... yummy
Love the idea of fresh peas too. I would appreciate no music so I can focus on hearing the recipe.
My favourite soup.
I very surprised that you did not wash the split peas!!!??????
Not good
🥣 Yum!
What!? No bay leaf
Yummy yummy yummy ❤🎉😂

It's not a Pea and Ham soup then is it?! Id10T
I would rinse the split peas first
Unfortunately our hocks are 12 dollars 😓
Could you turn the left over skin into pork crackling?
Zero chance if it's been in water and boiled like that
@@L8rCloud Thanks, might try putting it into the dehydrator to make snacks for my dog instead.
That ham does not cost under $10
