Have watched what seems like hundreds of videos about the RadRunner. Your set up is genius in practicality that no one has represented thus far in my research. I will be implicating your ideas on my very own 1st RadRunner that is now in the process of shipping to my house. Thanks for putting it out there. 👍

wondering if you could show a video how you went about mounting the passenger seat kind of more forward, i like the idea of just using that for the main seat.

We were wondering as well and if there's enough room to mount a Yepp seat behind it.

so informative, and your delivery keeps folks watching, or not skipping. I am in the install phase now, and now I see there is so much more I can be looking at. The hill question and answer is helpful as I live in San Francisco. I work in Brisbane, and luckily can commute to work on back roads. However the hills had me a little nervous.

Going through the same experiance myself, with a different bike. One thing I've learnt in a lot of years with cycles and motorbikes is that security cables do their best work linked to something immobile, and the best wheel-to-wheel cable in the world won't stop some joker picking up a bike and putting it in the back of a van. Even if you just run the cable through a loop of the cable on the bike parked next bay, that makes it an awkward thing to steal. Oh and in the UK lights mounted on clothing/helmets instead of the bike itself aren't enough: Doesn't stop you doubling up what's on the bike and any increase in road presence is always a good thing. Keep it up guy.

Nice job. I like your seat modification. The stock RadRunner solo seat is very uncomfortable for me and the two aftermarket seats from Amazon that I tried were more comfortable, but too high. How is your modified passenger seat working out for pedaling? Did you have to drill any additional hole in the frame to bolt it on?

Loving your videos. Best practical RadRunner videos I've seen yet. Also, the exact accessories I would look at if I ended up getting one. Had a few questions/requests. 1) Can you and your son both fit with the modified passenger package and basket? 2) Are you able to curb hob with small tires and controller/kickstand down low? Where I would go I would need to on occasion and it might be a deal breaker for me. 3) My biggest question/request I can't find anywhere - can you do a demo of what can actually fit in the center console? It's the main reason I would buy that model over the City or Rover version and I can't find anywhere online that actually show a practical view of what would actually fit in it. Thanks! Keep up the good work! (and I love that you are doing this with you son)

Love your vids. Just bought 2 Runners and a Rover 5. Your modification videos gave me a lot of great info to consider. Bringing the rear seat forward was a good idea but I wonder if the down angle on the front of the pad affects the comfort of the ride. Also compromises the buddy ride ability of the seats. It still looks like the Runner seat situation has some creative mod opportunities to be investigated. Thanks for the videos!

First off, thank you for putting these videos out there. I really appreciate your perspective. Having the hardest time deciding between the RadRunner and the RadMini 4! All other distinguishing factors aside, in our honest opinion, is the RadRunner a decent option for someone wanting to ease into biking for exercise? I just have some reservations about the lack of gears amounting to a lack of varying pedal resistance for exercise (when I want it). Thanks again!

Can I suggest that you order a pack of inexpensive BLACK 3M reflective tapes/sheets from Amazon to dress up your bike? I have an all black ebike and as I didn't want to add any yellow or white reflective tapes to mar its stealth look, I found the black ones! During the day, it's not easy to spot but once light shine on them, they reflect... though not as bright as the standard day-glo versions. I could see your bike benefited by having such on the large container box and along the fork tubes? Ride and stay safe!

Time for another update? How are you now finding the bike after 2 years? Do you still have it or have you upgraded to the Rad Runner Plus ? How have you found the battery? Are you still using the original one or have you had to buy a new one? I think they are a bit like mobile phone batteries in that they can only be charged so many times. All the best from Paisley here in Scotland, probably the only place that gets more rain each year (50 inches) than Seattle (37 inches)🌨🌨🌨🌨🌨🌨

@dadrunner thanks for this helpful video, I'm just about ready to buy one. I'm intrigued by your seat and rear basket mod, great idea. I read in one of the comments that you can still fit a passenger on there, which is great! Would love to see a photo or video of that in action--can passengers still rest their feet on the pegs? I'm 5'10 and the 2 people in my life that may be passengers (wife and son) are 5'8 and 5'11. Trying to figure out if we're too big to ride together (2 of us at a time) with a mod like this, any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @flojotube
      @flojotube 4 роки тому

Sherman C - these are “military-style” bags.... there 4 billion on Amazon and believe it or not, if they’re low cost & made by some bizarre company name BUT have good reviews, GRAB IT because even the Chinese knockoffs are typically VERY solid... I own MANY MANY bags like this. What you want to look for are bags with a “MOLLE” system... that’s the military term for the loops he put the lock in on the front, which I’d describe as “female molle” and this style bag will typically have the “male molle STRAPS” on the back to secure it to another larger bag w/ molle, or a belt, or whatever the person wants. The molle system makes bags like this MODULAR & CUSTOMIZABLE.. when purchasing a bag like this, just make sure the REVIEWS ARE GOOD & MENTION THE MATERIAL IS GOOD STRONG QUALITY. BELIEVE ME, it’s hard to screw these bags up, so very few do, but when there’s a garbage molle bag on amazon, the reviews WILL IDENTIFY THEM FOR YOU. Boys don’t play with their bags.

Hey cool video! Thanks for sharing so much info. I am considering buying my first eBike soon, (maybe 2, one for the wife also!) I believe the RadRunner has cadence type sensing on the pedals which senses only that you are pedaling & not how hard u are pedaling. Some say that this can be a limitation, makes a bike inferior to one that has a true torque sensor on the rear sprocket. Bikes with true torque sensors are said to do a better job of sensing how hard you are pedalling and applying a proportionate amount of power assist. I am wondering what your experience has been with the Rad. DO you find the power assist jerky or unpredictable in any way? Is the bike easy to start off on a hill (without using the throttle?) What about the fact that it has only 1 rear gear (sprocket) Do you find that a limitation in any way such as starting off or any difficulty pedaling the bike when the power assist is off (or a dead battery?) Appreciate your feedback very much!

This was awesome. Wish I saw this video before I went thru the same scenario on the bike seat. Got the cloud9 too. Didn’t work for me either. Let me know what seat u did go with. I’m still searching. Also where did you get the horn? With people not hearing You cause they are wearing earbuds, Rads lil bell doesn’t help

Bluewolf, thank you for the positive comment. I am about 5'3" so my guess is @ 5'6" you will be just fine, even with the seat on. I do recommend you upgrade the seat however, the original seat is quite hard. Hope this helps? Happy riding!

I want one of these so badly for commuting to college but the idea of the bike being unattended for several hours while I’m at class gives me anxiety. I’d like that LCD display but I feel like that would get snatched after the first week.

Since you've altered the seating position and added the bike bag, can this realistically be used with an adult passenger? Just thinking of peg location, the lock, etc. Looks awesome, btw. I just ordered the upgraded display and will likely add the light as it seems to be easy to keep charged via the USB

Hey man, why did you go with this bike over the RadWagon? Just curious... I’m about to order the RadWagon 4 on Monday so I can wait til SEPTEMBER to actually ride it, but this bike was my runner up (especially because this green color matches my wrangler 100%) - I decided I wanted the heftier payload capacity and cargo space and knew I could just grab a sheet of vinyl wrap to make it any color I please once its here.. It looks like you went with the RAD brand basket & front rack, but since ordering the bike, have you found a better option for either that you wish you’d done instead?

Based on the numbers you showed that hill was a little more than an 8% grade, pretty steep. Here's how you compute it: You said it was about a 1/3 of a mile, which is 1760', the rise was 213', therefore 1760 ÷ 213= 8.26%
