Because I watched a previous video of yours, I bought the gloves while I anxiously awaited for the arrival of my ebike!
The bike arrived, I already had my gear! Yay!
Long story short & some ouchies, I hit a big rut on a gravel road. Went down with the bike. Was so glad I had a helmet & gloves on! I got pretty bruised up, am still styling the bruises. 🩹
But the helmet & gloves saved the event!
My left hand is still sore, but my skin was saved.
My left brow bone took a hit as did my head, but again, that helmet really saved me.
I truly appreciate your vids! 👍👍

I agree totally. The little hand-powered pumps are OK for regular road bike tires, but those 26" x 4" tires take a LOT of hand pumping. So much better to have the rechargeable electric pump.

Hey Russ, recently came across your channel doing research on the Rad Rover 6+. I had an older model previously but sold it. I'm retired now and wanted to get back into riding again. As luck would have it, Rad is selling the 6+ for super cheap right now, I couldn't pass it up. So starting to get my amazon list together for accessories. Used all your links, so hope that helps when the time comes to buy. The only time I ever fell over was when I added a tall bag to the back rack. I couldn't swing my leg over it. Fell trying to get on and again when trying to get off. Took the bag off right away 🤣I found it helpful to stand on a concrete pad outside my garage to decrease the height a bit and then rolling on the throttle as I slung my leg over. Same thing when dismounting, I would swing my right leg back over while keeping my left foot on the pedal and then slowly coming to a stop. Great videos! 👍

I suggest Tannus wheel liners and don't forget one size smaller tubes when you install since the liners take up room inside the tire...Just buy the full set. It's like 120-130 for the 2 liner/tube setup and well worth it. Research yourself. If you want cheaper go with Slime or there's another I used that works well I just can't remember. Not fixaflat btw. Don't use that. Another thing I suggest is at least one GPS tracker. I hid 2 in my bike(they make accessories that are made to hide them like bells or reflectors). An Airtag and a Samsung Smart tag+ to hedge my bets. The Airtag only works if you one have an Apple device and ppl around your stolen bike need to have devices that run Apple Find my Device. I got one of each for under 100 and one I hid inside the bike and the other I have a bell that hides an Airtag.
Another thing if you have a bike that's worth a lot I suggest insurance. It's typically 60-80 a year for good coverage. Mine through Oyster is 65 a year. But most big companies have ebike insurance now. IIRC for the same coverage was 75 from Geico.
One thing I did since I have a security system already was add a small telephoto sec cam that points where I keep my bike. It's secure but if someone knows I'm not around and has time to get into my garage and a angle grinder they can steal it. I get a push notification and a link to the live feed of a very good angle of anyone coming up to my garage(you can only get to it from one direction because I have 2 nosy dogs that love to alert and chase ppl away that can get outside from the dog door anytime. It's another cheap addition. IIRC it was 35 to add to my setup. But you can use it stand alone if needed..All that are things you can slowly add to secure your expensive ebike. Mine was 3k plus I have close to 1k into it in upgrades. And like I'm sure many of you all who dropped even half that amount worry that someone can pick that up and walk off with it if they had the will and watched you enough and got a minute and some guts.
Out of all that stuff the GPS tags then insurance are the best bang for your buck after normal things like good lock and what Russ mentions.
A second backup cheap headlight is a good call if you ride at night a lot. I've had one die before and had to use my phone to ride home in the Vermont woods for 5 miles years back. I learned from that experience and you should too. 10 bucks for a cheap backup is worth it.

Instead of packing an extra innertube, get a product called Flat Out. You put in your tires and it you get a puncture it seals it immediately. Its awesome stuff, I run it in all my bikes and never had a flat ever since. Pepper spray? I carry a .40cal pistol for protection! Lol

I work commute on my Radrover and single track trail ride. I had several flats from road debris or wood spikes on limbs that put a up to a dime size hole in the tire and tube. Having a spare inner tube saved me from having to push the bike 5-10 miles or calling the spouse.

E-Bikes showed up when I was surfing UA-cam. Something I thought about when I was a teenager. I got 2 years on you.
I am also doing PT after a 3 month stint in the hospital. I have issues with my left ankle / foot for 4 years now.
I think this is a great idea to have some fun, exercise and get out of the house. For me just a dream. My foot will not make a full pedaling cycle.

Hey Russ. Good list. Do you pull a trailer to carry all that stuff? (Just kidding).
My wife and I just got our ebikes. My top two criteria were price and weight. From the weight perspective I carry the tool kit that came with the bike. It has a multi tool that has hex wrenches and screw drivers plus a multi wrench. I think these two cover all the fasteners on the bike. To stop snatch and grab thieves, I have a bike lock made from thin stainless steel braiding. This thing coils up like a slinky and stretches to 3 ft. I also carry wire ties and the smallest Swiss Army knife made. The knife easily cuts the wire ties, but can be used for many other things. I need to get a small first aid kit. I don't carry any tire repair stuff thinking that we are never too far from civilization and I can use my cell to get out of trouble. I also need to find a properly sized container to strap these on the bike. I am guessing the entire package would be less than two pounds.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  Рік тому

Cables are easily cut with bolt cutters unfortunately. But, better locking options add a lot of weight.

I was having knee pain and even moved from our 2-story home to a 1 level because of the stairs. Purchased a Radrover back in 2016 just for low impact exercise. The more I rode the less knee pain I was having. Decided to work commute with the Radrover and put around 50-75 miles per week (occasional detours afterwork to ride different paved or the dirt trails on the way home). Knee pain was 100% gone and my conditioning greatly improved. Got lazy during the lockdown and only rode 5-10 miles at a time every few months. The knee pain started to come back. I now ride more often and that keeps the pain down (and conditioning up).

    pay same item twice
    ordered motor/wheel for hyperscopion. 550.00.
package was left on public sidewalk without even a knock @ door. it was stolen. Juice offered a 30% discount on replacment. other large companys refund/replace (amazon/e bay). customer service is good @ juiced. But company is greedy. if item is ordered thru them I suggest you sit outside all day for delivery or YOU will be paying again.

Great videos, would like to do what you do, but my video editing skills are subpar😮to nill,if you know a simple video editing software from Apple that an elderly caveman can operate. Please let me know. Thank you Russ, Grandpa’s Ebike.

Apple only makes two video editing programs, Apple iMovie and Apple Final Cut Pro X.

You could’ve bought a motorcycle for what you have tied up in this E bike lol.

But you can't ride a motorcycle through the forest preserves and other areas. The ebike is best for that (even though some folks won't think you should be there... even though the law says you can!)
