Love, love my RadRunner! I’m 69 and have it as my grocery getter on a rack behind my motorhome. Rad has tons of videos out on how-to’s. I found all of them very helpful. I added the upgraded display upgrade. Basket on back as Arkansas doesn’t allow passengers on bikes. I also added mirrors and the console and fenders.
I just got my Ebike and putting it together. I'm impressed with the quility of this this unit, delivery time, no damage, will be adding p. Package and maybe more. Will add more as I ride the hell out of it. I'm 72 yrs old and still go like I'm 50. Geter done, enjoy my ride.
I bought mine last year. Yes. The seat is not good. I replaced the seat and with a nother bar pay attention. The seat bar also different size or(. pole)..
I rode a RadWagon 12 thousand miles over a 2 year period. Rad bikes (which I love and would buy again) are not built to withstand the rigors of high speed riding. If you "hack" your controller to gain speed, you will significantly increase wear on the components and be at risk of catastrophic failure. If you do hack your controller for more speed, I highly suggest you first upgrade your brakes, spokes, cassette, chain and chain ring. I rode my Rad at the highest assist settings when I first got it and had so many issues. It was not until I started to moderate my use of assist that the bike rode without failure. After a couple of years I did want more speed and more power to go up hills so I sold the Rad and built a bike to spec. I now ride a Haro with a BBSHD motor but I still need to moderate my speed to conserve the longevity of the components. Same issue, I got the bike put together and started riding at full assist (which got me top speeds of around 35mph on the flats). The chain (KMC) stretched out with under 1000 miles on it and the rear cassette went shortly after. Now I ride it in a moderate assist level and only bump it up on occasion. Lastly, if you hack your controller and burn out your motor by over working it, your warranty will be void and Rad will not replace or fix it. P.S. If your bike can assist at speeds over 23 miles an hour and has a throttle, it is considered a Class 3 eBike in Washington state and can not be ridden on any sidewalks or trails. Rad Power bikes with throttles are governed at a max speed of about 20mph which makes them Class 2 out of the box. Class 1 and 2 bikes can be ridden virtually anywhere a peddle bikes are allowed.
Wow, Ez E brining it! Love the full breakdown, thank you. This is why I have the channel, so experienced people like yourself can give real world tips to amateurs like myself and everyone in between. Happy riding.

I ordered the green radrunner yesterday. I ordered the full fenders, passenger package and the center console. I’m really looking forward to getting it put together. Thanks for the video. 👍🏻

An interesting accessory for Rad Power Bikes is a Veltop attachment for riding in the rain . It has a front windshield with a canvas cover for riding in the rain. Apparently the new model (Veltop Urban) gets around having to attach it behind your back seat like the older model (Veltop Classic 3 and earlier) did. In addition it has a front basket making it more stable. I attached this on my RadRover a few years ago however it did require modification as it normally would not attach on the handlebars (I used a Handlebar accessory extender). One note is that the old model (Classic 3) used fiberglass rods to hope up the canvas roof. These annoyingly broke a lot so I replaced them using two whip antennas for a CB radio that I cut for the right length. The steel whip antennas also made the front windshield far more stable being mounted. Before it was kind of iffy and the windshield would sometimes flop back annoyingly. It was a little difficult to get on and off the bike but like I said earlier the new model (Veltop Urban) for upright bikes gets around this and the fiberglass rod issue might not be a problem for that model.. I did have to wear gaiters around my legs because even with the mud/rain guards on the bicycle rain would still splash on to my legs. But after these fixes it was very pleasant and even preferable to ride in rainy weather (I would be one of the very very few cyclists on the trails and streets I reached 4,000 miles on my RadRover but going through a crosswalk with the signal clear in May 2019 I had a truck driver not visible in the cab go through a red light and hit my bike. I pedaled as fast as I could with the throttle and escaped being struck. However the bike was hit badly and the rear wheel was hit. I consider it perhaps totaled. Even my Veltop windshield got scratched badly. The driver did not stay and took off doing a hit and run. So I have been without my ebike for about a year and a half. It was a lot of fun while it lasted. If there is a another stimulus check coming perhaps I will get another one. I might even opt for the less expensive RadRunner as it's easier to get on and off a Veltop equipped bike with one that's Open Step. However looking at the geometry of the handlebars on the Radrunner a crossbar would have to be welded on them. With the RadRover one could easily get around that
I like the way you make your e bikes. I would like to have one but can't afford one. I have an e cycle with no battery. Can't afford to buy one. But I watch your show all the time and just wanted to say thank you!!
After seeing your bike with all the accessories I've picked out, I feel better a lot better about ordering the forest green color. Looks great! Thanks for the info and for the tips, too! Safe riding to you.

Hello Diana, I appreciate the kind words. If the RadRunner is on your list of ebike choices and you have any questions, I'm happy to help answer them to the best of my ability. Good luck on your ebike purchase and happy riding!
Just got one (Radrunner) for my wife - doubled her around Banff where we live. Runs great - did some knuckle damage getting the accessories added and two screws were torqued to tight and stripped when trying to get them out so the rear fender is on with 2 screws instead of 3 and the console is on with 3 instead of 4. Doesn't do hills around here as well as I hoped but is like riding in first on our none electric bikes but a greater distance per peddle so it gets up the hill with some oomph I have to add to get to the next flat spot. They threw in the front light though I thought I had to order it as an extra - that was cool - THANKS RAD - and I love that the brakes activate a brake light behind the passenger seat. The cup holder and the phone holder on the console are both too small - I will have to go to the plumbing store and get two sizes of PVC and glue that together to make a kick ass cup holder - maybe even make it to hold 2 cups and a bottle of wine ;) - mount to fit into theirs. I like your video and it's content ;) - maybe retool the showroom part and slow it down so no one falls off or gets sick from that ride. Though the sped up part with you and your son installing the accessories was a great idea to put content ;) without boring the audience overtly. Have a blast with you new bike and I love the comments with all the ideas to enhance this bike even more. 35K views in 2.5 months - That's pretty RAD for a new channel. ;) ;)
Thanks for the long review Ive been concerned about the single speed drivetrain on hills thanks for adding that.Looks like I might have to go with lectric 2.0 since it has higher gearing
i looked at the runner and rover, i liked both. i went another way because i live on a big steep hill but these were near the top of my list. i especially like the old motorcycle look of the runner.
If you can navigate a sewing machine, you can modify some nylon strapping and velcro to two bags over the sides. Just lay over the passenger pad with velcro around the upright braces. Thanks for the video.
Great video...debating going with this model vs Rad Runner Plus. I'll be doing some streets, but also mostly flat trails here in Cathedral City, California.
Definitely a second car replacement. If you really needed more space, just add a trailer. So many cool ones out there. You can do a whole lot with this. Cool :)
Thanks for making this video it was really helpful. Great multi purpose ebike at a realistic price. Mentioning your height helps judge the size of the bike.
Oh haha love the ending image! Great passenger! And very smart father & son duo. Our RR2 is coming tomorrow, I think the passenger kit has been out of stock for a while, I did order fenders but looking at the work required... urg... I did not see the LCD in the accessories list, maybe out of stock as well, but thanks to your tip, definitely will be on the look out to get that extra speed. I like extra storage but they seem to look/ be heavy, maybe later. Happy riding!
It would be great if they had an extra battery in case your out and run out. If I were to have a passenger say my hubby or visa versa neither one of us would be able to pedal all the way home without the assistance of the battery. Thanks for the video. Love all your accessories.
Thank you for the comment Kerry. A friend of mine has installed a second battery on his ebike and it works well. I may do the same in the near future myself.
Just ordered one today! Also green and pretty much exactly the same setup but without the small box for the front, just the rack. I have to say that Rad Power Bikes customers service is great and I can't wait to have it here so I can play! - I live in north western Washington (along the Skagit River) with lots of dirt roads and nice trails and am looking forward to a lot of ride time in the woods as well as city.
@@ki4low234 - uhmm... Actually... I would love to have one, but I have a Kawasaki dirt bike, a quad and a couple of gas powered bikes and this bike fills the bill for what I wanted, an electric utilitarian bike with some minor off-road capabilities that will mostly be used on the road - that being said - it would be a blast to ride an off road electric bike like that without engine noise. I think from what I've seen they are great bikes with more than enough power to have a ton of fun. On the budget factor, I got this bike with all available options accept one box for half the price and can swap options to customize it for the mission of the day. The Onyx would be one of my TOP choices for a bike of that class, but again, it was not what I was looking for when I purchased this bike. - I've only just gotten my Radrunner day before yesterday and so far I am VERY pleased with this bike and Rad Bikes, Keenan, in customer service who helped me with some questions provided excellent service. Infact I am considering purchasing 3 more bikes from Rad this week, 1 for my wife and 2 more for my boys, they are just trying to figure out which models they want. Maybe sometime in the near future I'll be in the market for another ebike for strictly off-road and the rcr will DEFINITELY be on the options table.
@@jamescockrum1365 So how your rad bike holding up after 2 years and how's after the sale customer service still doing?? I'm looking for responses from people that have owned these bikes for awhile but nobody has long term reliability reports to give🤔🤔
Thanks for sharing! I, too, find the RadRunner a fun ebike. I purchased the standard setup and built it up with the add-on backseat package and the fender package. I also added a 6" motorcycle headlight to it since Rad do not have any to sell. My only complain about the bike: when I tried to install the back fender it was really hard to remove the 3 screws, Rad put those screws in too tight that the screwheads were damaged & I had to use extractor bits to get them out (not too sure why Rad did it since the fenders package comes with the screws anyway). Talk about the add-ons, most of them are sold out, including their new headlight upgrade. It has great battery for sure, and at $1,299 it's a steal. Happy "Rad-ing"!
Its the PNW! All bikes should come with fenders. Practically 100 bones for a option that should be on a bike. People in the NW do not hide from the rain.
My disabled brother-in-law bought one. I've been bicycling for 57 years. This bike is well built and has some cool accessories. This is also the biggest waste of money for an e-bike. They won't sell you tires or inner tubes and the ones that come on the bike are cheap. Most bikes sold don't come with "the best" tires and tubes. Rad Power Bikes have tubes and tires in stock but are keeping them for new bike sales. It's now an almost $2,000 paper weight. The 22x3 tires are only used by Rad. No one else makes them or the tubes. They sell an equally bad "armored liner" meant as an adapter so you can use 22x1.75 tubes in the 22x3 tires. Why is there not a class action suit against them?
I myself am vertically challenged as well. I am only 5'2" so I am unable to ride the Radmini 4. we need folding bikes for our RV, so instead I am going with the Tern Vektron which is for people from 4'10" to 6'4", it is more money but it is another option for those who are on the shorter side.
You sir are certainly not a moron. This is a very well done video and very informative to those of use just venturing into researching ebike land. As far as the bags you talked about would they fit if you used spacers under the passenger seat?
Nice video- Would you mind sharing the info. on the the mirror you purchased and mounted? and in another video I see you mounted a ground level light facing to the ground off the frame? And lastly was it too much trouble to move and remount the front light to make the front rack system work? Appreciated!!!
I just ordered mine and this will be helpful when I get it. I didn’t order the new controller that’s something I’m gonna have to get. I like the extra 5 miles an hour.
I have a 2018 RadMini it is very well made. I have 1000 miles and 18 months on the bike. The build is sturdy and strong will last a life time. My disappointment is in the power and the claim of 750 watts and 80 newt meters of torque. These claims are misappropriations of labeling standards. Actual newt meters are around 30 and the 750w motor is too a 500w. I won’t go into details but the Ebikes community has much concerning this online. You will not be able to comfortably handle hills fully loaded. Too if you get in a pinch and need some power to get out of it- it ain’t going to happen. American car drivers are arrogant, self absorbed ie, this is my road drivers. You need to get out of a pinch and this bike will not allow that. Be careful going into intersections and the light changes.
Was wondering if a 250w version will be ok, since I live in Europe. I have many hills around me and have 94kilos, would this bike be to weak for me? They only sell 250w version in Europe but 750w wagon?
Indeed Michael. It is nice to be able to go in and look around a bit. If it helps, we don't currently have a store here in WA. either with the closing of businesses and all? Perhaps soon for the both of us then? Thank you Michael for your comment.
Pretty much all metal with tires and motor n cost more then others with alot more stuff so not sure if its worth buying all the gears will cost 2k or more!
Regarding the display upgrade. If you're only interested in the speed and/or you want to know the speed in mph, get a bicycle display (no more than $20 on eBay IIRC) and mount it on the front tire.
Need some help. Have a rad runner that's 1 1/2 years old. 6 months into it, we road thru a long hard rain. EVERYthing & everybody was soaked. Got home, put the bikes away in a garage and the next day, no power, no start, nothing. A YEAR LATER..after changing out the wiring harness, battery, fuses AND controller...I still own a brick. NOTHING. No power on. No start. Zero, Zip, Zilch.....Any ideas ? Rad service has been VERY VERY VERY slow to help...
Now this is what I've been wanting to hear.Real life issues from real not paid users ..Just wish more happy first day owners would come out with 6 months to a year review like you . thanks😃
Yeah I remember someone else saying you need to get a seat post to change the seat but it's an opportunity to get another piece of shock absorption in if you find the right one. What mirror did you install? I haven't found one I'm confident will fit on the handlebars so it would be nice to know what option is tried and true. Thanks for the hecka dad vibes and hello from shoreline 🤙
Hello Josilyn, how about this? Being a fellow Washingtonian, I'll do a video for you to help answer your questions. Keep checking back, it will be up in the next day or two. Remember to click the likes and subscribe if you haven't yet? Happy riding!
Hello again Josilyn. Do to timing It may be a bit longer than expected to do the video. I do however want to get your questions answered just in case. If you upgrade the seat you will need to purchase a new post. The size of the replacement post needs to be 27.2mm in diameter and no more than 390mm tall. As for the comfort, you can look into a replacement post with built-in suspension. A post like that will sit higher up, so based on your height that's something to consider. Now for the mirror. The mirror I went with is made by "Hafny" model number HF-MR095. I bought it on Amazon for about $25.
Great review! Thanks for posting. I've heard the 'Pannier' pronounced many different ways, of course I'm from Missouri where we can't even agree how to pronounce the name of our state. A couple of questions: How long/far is your commute? How much weight does each accessory add to the bike? I would have loved some closer video of each of the accessories mounted. Whats included in that tool kit. I assume you ordered the new seat from someone else? Did you get any extra tires / tubes? I assume it has tubes. For another video: I'd love a detail of taking the back wheel off. Once again thanks! I'm looking forward to more videos.
As someone else that's shorter, one worry I have about the center console is that it might get in the way of my pedaling. How has it been for you? Do you have measurements on the closer part to the bike?

Seems super functional and looks great!
That was really useful, I didn't know the passenger package blocked the usage the paniers badge bag. Thanks a lot for this video
Whirly ball shirt, UW bucket, went to the Rad Power store.... this dude clearly lives near me.
Nothing like the rain coast of PNW
i looked at the runner and rover, i liked both. i went another way because i live on a big steep hill but these were near the top of my list. i especially like the old motorcycle look of the runner.
Congrats T M on the purchase. Happy riding!
SO what did you go with Do you still have it
If you can navigate a sewing machine, you can modify some nylon strapping and velcro to two bags over the sides. Just lay over the passenger pad with velcro around the upright braces. Thanks for the video.
My Son just bought one and he loves it. With the price of gas now it's a good bet.
Cool :)
Thank you sarge for the suggestion, with the way I'm going a trailer may be next... :)
Thanks for making this video it was really helpful. Great multi purpose ebike at a realistic price. Mentioning your height helps judge the size of the bike.
Great video. Awesome CONTENT!
To
Thanks for taking the time to produce this. Really excellent information.
This is a fantastic and very very helpful video. Thank you!
They sell the whole battery box so you could buy a second one .
Nice careful thorough review ..I was concerned at 5'7" whether their other models might be too big .. this is reassuring .. enjoy
What you think about the onyx rcr
Thanks James, couldn't have said it better myself. Happy riding boys!
@@dadrunner8056 i agreed
Good time, I got the Radwagon and love it...
Front storage racks look tres heavy!!! The mirror is a smart idea.
I myself am vertically challenged as well. I am only 5'2" so I am unable to ride the Radmini 4. we need folding bikes for our RV, so instead I am going with the Tern Vektron which is for people from 4'10" to 6'4", it is more money but it is another option for those who are on the shorter side.
use bigger screws (big enough to clip in) to add space between seat and the fixed rack
Thanks for the review, I have never seen one of these before. Looks fun.
This bike gets me so much attention people love it
You sir are certainly not a moron. This is a very well done video and very informative to those of use just venturing into researching ebike land. As far as the bags you talked about would they fit if you used spacers under the passenger seat?
Not vertically challenged either really, just a lower center of gravity.
the frame rate on that camera damn near gave me a seizor when panning
Thank you grundyman for the comment. Glad you made it. :)
DadRunner lol, nice vid; I was just busting your chops
Would you do a vedio on adjusting the brakes. Slowly. And the alignment
Nice...I'm 5.1 great video. Perhaps you could do a small trail ride to see how it handles. Thx
It would be sweet to mount some led's to the fenders to act as brake lights/add night visibility.
Thank you hnicjfc for the suggestion. I must admit I've given it some thought. Maybe in the future?
The intro text xD Well done. Keep it up.
Thank you Daniel for the heads up. Looks like I may be in the market for an upgrade!
just buy an 250 watt europe model ,more mileage -lighter and enligheten the management system
Was wondering if a 250w version will be ok, since I live in Europe. I have many hills around me and have 94kilos, would this bike be to weak for me? They only sell 250w version in Europe but 750w wagon?
Thanks so much for the info.It sure is hard to find real life after the purchase reviews by owner😀
I like how they put the crappiest seats on so you have to buy a new one right off the bat. What a racket
Hey !!! In the first minute I knew this was gonna be helpful!!!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Hello Haz, thank you for the positive comment. Glad the channel was able to help you out. Happy riding!
Excellent video! Thank you!
It would be nice if they had a store on the East Coast
Indeed Michael. It is nice to be able to go in and look around a bit. If it helps, we don't currently have a store here in WA. either with the closing of businesses and all? Perhaps soon for the both of us then? Thank you Michael for your comment.
@@dadrunner8056 Have u rode the bike now that u upgraded and hacked the display? If so did u get more speed. Thanks Nice video
Thank you for your video you will be walking you're E black up ALL of the Hill's were you stay ! .
Looks like you'll need some light duty motorcycle wheels on that soon, the bike wheels won't be strong enough. Great video.
Thank you Lenz for the comment. It seems to be trending that way doesn't it?
This was really helpful! Thank you so much.
Thank you! I really needed this.
Love the video, man. Made me excited to get mine👊🏻
The pannier comment ("hey moron....") was hilarious....
Nice looking machine. Well done video.
Hello Bill, thank you for the kind words. I've made some mods to the bike and will be releasing them soon. So stay tuned and happy riding!
can you do a video about how to maintain and clean?
This is so underrated
Have you looked into what type of bar mitts might fit well on the Runner? The ones sold from Rad don't fit the Runner.
Great job !! Appreciate your video.
Great video! I shared it with my FB group.
Thank you again EZ!
Pretty much all metal with tires and motor n cost more then others with alot more stuff so not sure if its worth buying all the gears will cost 2k or more!
I got the roadrunner and the center console and the screws that you have to unscrew they kept stripping
The basket should be placed with the “X” at the front as shown in the video on the RAD site.
Thank you Gwen for the comment. I just don't like it that way. To each his own I guess.
Need to see more content - haha kidding 😂 Nice review!
Good info on the Rad bike I have an interest and want to research more.
Thanks
Thank you murray for the comment. Let me know if I can answer something for you in a future video?
Great color
US , Liberia and Myanmar are the only places on earth that still use imperial. Great vid tho. :-)
Regarding the display upgrade. If you're only interested in the speed and/or you want to know the speed in mph, get a bicycle display (no more than $20 on eBay IIRC) and mount it on the front tire.
Thanks stan for the suggestion.
Hi, great video. What Mirror did you install? I've hard a hard time finding one that fits. TY!
what and where kind of mirror?
thank you nice video i am from Quebec city
Thank you michel for the kind words and hello to our neighbor to the North.
I’m 6’3 ... will I be disappointed when it arrives?!
Why did you not get the Radrunner plus?
the centre storage comes with a key or some kind of security?
Rad runner plus looks like it has more options???
Need some help. Have a rad runner that's 1 1/2 years old. 6 months into it, we road thru a long hard rain. EVERYthing & everybody was soaked. Got home, put the bikes away in a garage and the next day, no power, no start, nothing. A YEAR LATER..after changing out the wiring harness, battery, fuses AND controller...I still own a brick. NOTHING. No power on. No start. Zero, Zip, Zilch.....Any ideas ? Rad service has been VERY VERY VERY slow to help...
Now this is what I've been wanting to hear.Real life issues from real not paid users ..Just wish more happy first day owners would come out with 6 months to a year review like you . thanks😃
Do you live in Arkansas want to sell it
Yeah I remember someone else saying you need to get a seat post to change the seat but it's an opportunity to get another piece of shock absorption in if you find the right one.
Ok great thank you for the info. I'll still look out for your videos in the future too
Myrricle mirror
Great video
Okayyyy here's a thing....I’m 4’9 and I really want to get this bike, so do you think I would be tall enough to ride it comfortably
he's has 0 updates on this bike since this video.its probable sold or sitting collecting dust because something expensive broke
Great video! Thank you for the info. I'm excited to get mine. Did the speed upgrade work? How easy was it to do?
Bike is nice. Company doesn’t exist. And they blame how busy they are. Too funny 😂
Sweet, I'm saving up for one
You will love it frank. Happy riding!
Great review! Thanks for posting. I've heard the 'Pannier' pronounced many different ways, of course I'm from Missouri where we can't even agree how to pronounce the name of our state.
A couple of questions:
How long/far is your commute?
How much weight does each accessory add to the bike?
I would have loved some closer video of each of the accessories mounted.
Whats included in that tool kit.
I assume you ordered the new seat from someone else?
Did you get any extra tires / tubes? I assume it has tubes.
For another video:
I'd love a detail of taking the back wheel off.
Once again thanks! I'm looking forward to more videos.
Hahahah! Thank you Thomas for the laugh. Very funny...
Having only one gear concerns me since I live in a hilly area 🤔
Can buy more than one battery???
As someone else that's shorter, one worry I have about the center console is that it might get in the way of my pedaling. How has it been for you? Do you have measurements on the closer part to the bike?
