I think the reason they only gave the Swedish the jas-39a was because they are going to give them the 39c when the aim-120 comes to the game and just leave the 39a with just the 9m’s and sky flashes because otherwise it feels like to much of a jump from the viggen d with aim-9l and sky flash to the jas 39a with aim-9m and aim-120, so i think they are going to leave the gripen a as it is and just add the c when fox 3 comes

For me it’s frustrating that they added something like this now. Why have they waited this long for the uk air tree to get commonwealth stuff? In this case we could have gotten South African/ Australian mirages years ago or Indian migs? There are native designs/prototypes
that haven’t even been added or considered that could very well be added, especially after we’ve seen stuff like the F16AJ and now M4K.
Mind boggling.
Britain needed a top-tier fighter, and South Africa is already pretty well-implemented
@@braedynhoward3644 they could have added multiple other things that made more sense, They even denied the EAP on the grounds of being a one off prototype thing and then gave France the M4K…hell they could have added the cheetah which is way more unique to South Africa, why is there not even a commonwealth sub tree for future additions then? This is just a middle finger to the UK tree

I agree. I could understand if commonwealth countries have their own nation tech tree causing lack of vehicles for British, but India or Australia do not have their own tech tree, so I feel like British should get as much variety of vehicles as other nations
On another note once radars get good enough if DCS is anything to go off of BVR is the way to go, high alt high speed will rule, whoever’s missile has more energy will be the most likely to win
Low altitude meta has nothing to do with radar or missile strength. It strictly has to do with the way gaijin implemented multipathing and made it way too easy
@@norske_ow3440how long have you been playing war thunder? Everyone started staying on the deck when the f4e first got the sparrows. Initially it only came with the sidewinder and when sparrows started killing people at altitude they figured out the radar didn’t have look down so the mig 21 players stayed low and f4e players went up. That is why everyone stays low now. It never changed

So because there is no thrust reverser on the Jas39, it uses the canards as extra airbrakes to stop at a shorter distance when landing. I was hoping this would be implemented since the dev server but it remains absent. It was even written about the feature in the devblog. I can't post on the forum so someone please bring this up to Gaijin because right now the stopping distance is like 1km instead of 400m when touching down at 300 kph. Very sad to see this essential feature of the Gripen be missing.

The reason why it looks so weird with Aim-9s on the wingtips is because it’s supposed to have the Aim-120. It was designed to use them.

Ammo just got changed to 120 (as far as i know its the correct value)
yes the real ammo count is 120 but im still sad that they changed it because it was a nice change to actually get a decent amount of ammo

I mean if it had Rb-99s it would be broken lol, I think a aircraft should be good not a monster, seems like its a monster in dogfights but lacks the long range BVR, which gives it strengths and weaknesses

Yes, on the Live Server. it went from 500ish, and then a game later it was 120
What's the purpose of the painted cockpit on the underside?
In dogfights it could trick the enemy into where you are going and where you would turn

Guys, what the point with fox 3's missiles ? Why are they so special ?
They have their own radar, therefore you don't need to guide them yourself all the time, and are also long range (idk how far maybe same if not further than aim7 ) , basically fire and forget aim7 i suppose, for example the aim54 that is in the f14a/b tomcat is a fox 3 missile, so you could try to snipe multiple target from far away

@@mo_2464 You don't, it went live with 512. My buddy had been using it when i got home. My First Game in the British one it had 512. Next match 120 for mine and my buddies swedish one. They snatched that shit up.

Kind of funny how they set it up because my understanding is that IRL it is more of a BVR beast than a dogfighter.
Yeah, IRL planes don't engage eachother at ground level, they fly at higher altitudes to get the most efficiency out of their plane and their missiles.
Whats bvr?
BVR, Beyond Visual Range. Using long range missiles to destroy aircraft from ranges beyond what short range missiles or guns can reach. This can be anything from a few miles, to out to 100+ miles with some of the modern BVR missiles.
Boring, dull gameplay. Not sure If you played when f14 first came out, but it was just long range missile spam from space and you'd die not even seeing anyone. People were getting kills 50km out
BVR is 4th generation combat. It is very complex and rewards teamwork, even if it isn’t visually exciting. If you die in BVR it *is* a skill issue. If BVR isn’t to your tastes, just fly 3rd generation fighters.
@@wmouse yea if you (general you, not you specifically) don’t at least know how BVR works to try to force a merge (something I enjoy immensely), you’re *really* gonna hate the next generation of heavy fighters coming next update with Fox-3s…
@wmouse Here we go with the skill issue insults again. No matter how you want to word it, bvr isn't as riveting from a gameplay perspective for the vast majority of the playerbase, trying to stick on someone's tail while they try shake you is far more immersive. A small percentage of people would prefer bvr, it can be rewarding but bvr jousting from miles out every game will get repetitive
