F80 M3 Trackday #23 - Streets of Willow CW - Speed Ventures 5/11/24

Forty-eighth track day. First time tracking down in SoCal. First event was Streets of Willow CW.
Haven't ran an entirely new track in a few years. Was fun to do something different than thunderhill/sonoma/laguna. Also haven't tracked the F80 since December.
Did a ton of 80k/DIY service maintenance ahead of these events and wanted my car in tip top condition. No hiccups all weekend even with the heat.
My pace was pretty good right out of the gate. My second lap ever was a 1.24. My sim laps were nonstop 1:22's.
Ran six 1:24s in the very first session. Several others throughout the day and PB'd in session 5. Best lap was a 1.24.15.
There was an easy 1.23 in there, but someone ruined it at the last turn for me.
I sort of found Streets to be boring...It wasn't bad. Just not the best. Probably my least favorite track I've run.
Haven't been able to pinpoint what exactly I didn't like about it... Needs more digesting.
Kinda hoped it would have been cooler this weekend. Was 94 degrees both days. Bleh. Takes a toll on the driver more than the car. Might be a while till I run streets again. See how it goes.
Had the opportunity to talk with Tosin Abasi (guitar player for animals as leaders) for 30 minutes or so. Couldn't believe it when I saw his name on attendee list. Just me and him chatting stuff.
Tosin is the most original/influential/talented modern guitar player and a true hero of mine. I've been playing since ~1998 and seen him live many times since the band's inception.
He was super cool and just a normal dude. Will always remember that interaction. Was doing 1.20s in his 992GT3 with AR1's. Was also his first time on that config.
This was the second event that Donut Media was at when I attended. Nolan, Jerimiah, and Jobe were there testing the Blue Low WRX and "$500" Civic. Stopped by their area a few times to chat and see how things went with their cars. Even got to do some lapping with them in my group. Also very cool to see them again. I watch all their content.
