not at all dated, great looking car. getting one next year even if the market doesnt shift a bit and i prefer it over the look of the G80 which i am also getting as a gift for someone
I have had one from new in 2018, then switched a few cars, bought another, sold it. Bought a GT3 911.2, bought another as a second car. Was given a G80 for the weekend. Still have the M4. Just such a great all round car and at todays prices... unbeatable if you keep them looking OEM.
I have owned one from brand new to 3 years old as lease and it sounded the same. I was going to keep it up but was skeptical. Looking back it is a super reliable car for the level of performance and beauty. Trust me this car is great!
Have a beautiful 2020 M4 Heritage Edition in Violet Blue. Garage kept and drive it 2 months out of the year when im down in Florida. The M4 is one of the best cars out there.
Nice video and cheers from Texas! 🍻 I’ve had my F82 for about 4 years and it has been nothing short of perfect. No issues at all and I still get a smile every time my garage door goes up. Great city daily driver that gets 27 MPG on the highway and turns into a monster with push of a button. 😊🏁
@@IwokeUpInSOMA Good question! The M1 and M2 buttons are very customizable which is great! It is a pretty dramatic change when the throttle response is changed to Sport Plus. I have the M Performance Exhaust and that really comes to life. The adjustable suspension and steering response is a great feature. I rarely turn off the “nanny” features like DSC Dynamic Stability Control since the car can get pretty squirrelly. Great and very fun car.
@@jbrown7403 thanks very much! I am picking up a used 2018 comp this weekend, as an upgrade to my 2007 e60 530i, and am basically trying to learn everything i need to know, to transition nicely to a dct trans M car! Cant wait, thanks for the quick reply!
@@IwokeUpInSOMA oh great! You’ll love it! The DCT is a wonderful transmission. Very versatile and fun to play with the variable shift speed. There are some good UA-cam videos about the DCT. Very simple once you get used to it. The main difference is there is no torque converter so you have to push the accelerator to move from a stopped position (unlike a gentle coast when you take your foot off the brake in an automatic transmission car). Enjoy in good health (but be careful and respect the car 😉) Love to hear what you think about the car once you’ve gotten to play with it a bit! 🏁👍

Most of those I've never heard of failing. OTOH charge pipe crack. The charge cooler will leak. Popping off a charge pipe or J pipe isn't uncommon. ABS sensors and the edc accelerometers go occasionally. Aside from the overblown crank hub, none of the common stuff is expensive.
Had my F80 m3 for 6 months best car I've ever had by a mile. Mine had to go back into bmw with the exhaust sensor issue. Its going back in tomorrow as I'm getting a little slug on oil cap. I'm told its only condensation as its only driven at weekends. I'm not overheating or losing coolant. But best to get it checked out I guess.
I have a M4 for more than 4 years. It is a great car. I just had a great time with my M4. I still didn't consider sell it. I strong recommend this car. Strong and precise
I have a 2014 f80 m3 that randomly started misfiring driving home one day and the eml started flashing, plugged it in and no fault codes. Drove it on for a few days and no issues until I got on the dual carriage way sat at 70 and it started to misfire again but with no eml. Seems to only be when in sport. Haven't driven it since. Is booked in to be looked at but not sure what it cud be. Hopefully just plugs or something simple and not too expensive. Great car though. Still Love it
I've watched a fair few of your videos now, just saw an m5 on ebay so thought I'd have a look on you tube, so informative! And properly researched. Top video. 👍
A lot of issues will always come down to poor maintenance, as long as you maintain the car properly and get it done properly, it will last. Good video. Have a 2018 Sakir Orange one myself, and they are fantastically fun. I personally like the exhaust note.. it sounds better and normal once the engine is warmed up and in sports mode.. that's where the car really shines.
Oh my god this car is incredibly good looking. Best looking M3/M4 hands down. Yes, the E46 is more timeless. The F82's design doesn't get enough praise. Pretty much all M3's age very nicely, but this along the E46 will age incredibly well.
Currently drive a Z4 35iS and its N54T (BMW 1M) engine sounds wonderful. Considering upgrading to an F82 M4 but if the sound is as crap as it seems first thing I'll be doing is an exhaust swap.
Thanks very much for this video. I've had an e92 m3 for years. I love the sound it makes. The sound is the only thing that is stopping me changing it. I'm pretty sure I will get the F82 but if I do, I know I'll miss that v8 howling. A maverick shout might to be buying an i8. If I'm going to lose the soundtrack, maybe not having to pay the roadtax is a price worth paying?
i like the grunt, with the 6spd manual it sounds great after a tune. ONLY DCT have crank hub problems after 600whp from that jam when shifting. AND BELIEVE ME the manual version with comp. pack is a WORLD of difference from the one shown here, good luck finding a hardtop comp manual , if you do and it has the good seats, better grab it quick
I was looking at the f80 but my 335d e90 has never skipped a beat and with a few bolt on bits and a good map I can give these boys a run for there money
The only other thing I would mention and I was going to have mine done on my F82 M4.Turbos seem to go after a few years and this is due to mostly age and wear on their seals of them. So price into mind that you might have to change them if you are buying older M4 or M3.

Can it be that the clutch wore out on all even gears only? Is there something I may be missing?
