  • I'm a home baker, I made a cake and I rolled out the fondant too thin! Now my cake is sort of see thru.
    Well, here is a video to tell you what I do to fix it.

      No, the buttercream doesn't need to be thin. That's just how it came out on this cake.

      I'm not too sure what it is used for, but I looked up the name it's called Clear Vinyl. It says it can be used to cover tables or used around the house. Hope this helps.

    If u decide to add another layer of fondant do u add water or frosting over the fondant to stick the next layer on ?????

    • @SimpleBaking
      @SimpleBaking  5 років тому

      Yes, if the fondant is not moist then lightly moisten the fondant so the new layer will stick on.

    Did u roll ur fondant in a plastic to avoid dryness?

    • @SimpleBaking
      @SimpleBaking  5 років тому

      Yes, it keeps the fondant moist and I don't have to use powdered sugar to roll it out. Also it makes it easier to move onto the cake and it peels off nicely from the plastic.

    After covering the cake in fondant where to store the cake in chiller or in ac room because my place is really hot plz help mee

    • @SimpleBaking
      @SimpleBaking  3 роки тому

      I usually store in an AC room but if its too hot you might need to put in the chiller, but the fondant might get moister once it defrosts. Some people say if you put in the chiller to store the cake in a corrugated box that is sealed very well to prevent moister. (I haven't tried it yet) I hope this helps! Good Luck!

      Hi! I would say about 1/8 of an inch thick should be good.
      If you roll it out too thin then it ends up like my first try. But if you roll it out too thick it may droop later on once it's finished.

    When we apply fondant... it may immediately grab moist.... how to avoid

    • @SimpleBaking
      @SimpleBaking  3 роки тому

      I usually put the cake the refrigerator for a couple hours until the buttercream gets firm. I take it out while prepping my fondant and it will only have a bit of moisture on it and that helps the fondant to stick.

    • @nadiaphilippe-auguste3946
      @nadiaphilippe-auguste3946 7 років тому +13

      It is more an issue of having a smooth base. The cake itself should have been covered more with buttercream, it was unleveled and parts of the cake were still showing to.... It will then be impossible to have a sharped/smooth cake :-/
      But all this comes with experience. Pratice makes perfect. But it's always easier to comment and be harsh behind a computer, always.
      Don't give up SimpleBaking! :-)

      I appreciate this video. It saved my beginner cake for my daughter's baby shower because I rolled the fondant so thin, it was transparent in parts. It was also horribly lumpy. Now, I am proud to show it off. Thanks SimpleBaking!
