I've seen this hundreds of times (by all different UA-camrs) and it never hurts to watch another person's methods and explanation. Yours was so easy to follow. Thanks!!
Hi Lynz! I am just a hobby baker here. And starting to learn about fondant recently. And been doing fondant cake 3 times but never make sharp edges. Wow! This tutorial is so helpful for me as a beginner! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise to us beginners! It's so amazing! Keep up thr good work! God bless your generous heart!❤
This is by far my favorite of all the channels for cake decorating. You do such a wonderful job with editing. You speed up the parts that don't need to be seen in "real-time" while very clearing explaining the techniques. The instructions are easy to follow with great explanations for the “why” of what you do. You show all tools and give their names, which is so helpful! Thank you so much for all the obvious effort that you have put into making a beautiful channel for learning about this fun art. It is very appreciated!
This has got to be one of the best UA-cam cake making tutorials I’ve watched - so clear and helpful! Mine didn’t turn out anywhere near as good as the one being demonstrated, and despite taking on board what you said about pressing down the top edges quickly so the weight of the icing didn’t make it rip, I still did end up with cracks around the top edge, but thankfully not rips like I usually have… and I was able to work them out and get the (fairly) sharp edges using your techniques… definitely the best cake I’ve made so far, so I’ll be practicing and watching more of your videos. Thank you!
I am going to be using Fondant for the first time to decorate My Sister's Birthday Cake. I find your method the Best of the Best. Very easy instructions to follow and understand... I just subscribed to your channel.
I've never, ever, seen this done by anybody! It's . . . intimidating! First of all, she cuts the tops off the cakes in perfect symmetry, freehand! MY wife couldn't make dry *toast*. This is too much.
Really great point about using an upward motion on the sides rather than the typically-touted downward or random smoothing, so that the crisp edge at the top is preserved. Thanks for a great video. I learned something quite valuable today.
Great tutorial! I’ve been working primarily with buttercream and have gotten better with the smooth finish. Wanting to try fondant and your tutorial was very clear and gave lots of details that this newbie appreciates!
That looks beautiful!!! I love the smoothness of fondant/icing but don’t care for how it “looks” fondant and cartoony.... those sharp edges really keep it crisp and elegant like a rehilar frosted cake.
This video helped me out a lot! I've made a few cakes but can never seem to get the buttercream right on the cake for the fondant. I'm making a cake in a couple days for a friend's birthday so I'm trying to learn what I can to hopefully, finally perfect icing a cake. Your tutorial is very easy to follow and understand 🙂
Wow! Great tutorial and really impressive result. Thanks for a great tutorial. I'm sure that I willwatch it many times until I get it right. By the way, love the simple, elegant cake.
just bought a cake decorating kit for my niece and hoping we can make some new cakes together. Came across your video and you make it look so easy, hopefully my first attempt at a fondant cake looks decent enough and eventually professional looking like yours
I loved how you showed, albeit briefly, just how to easily pick up the icing! I actually always have trouble with picking it up, so although it may not have been intentional, that helped me a great deal!
Hi I'm loving your tutorials...... so many other tutorials are far too long, not edited and ever so slightly boring. Plus you have a lovely voice, perfect for videos! I don't suppose you know how to make the gorgeous modern/whimsical/spiral roses seen on many wedding cakes recently. I love them so much (not a fan of the older style open roses with the petal edges very curled over) and I'm struggling to find a tutorial - I'm sure it'd be extremely popular if you did one :) x x
I'm so glad I found your video! A few years ago, I made my first fondant covered cake for my son's birthday. It tasted great and looked pretty good for a first effort. But my next cake is project needs those sharp edges. It will be my wedding cake. This tutorial actually gives me the confidence that I will be able to make my cake and have it come out perfect! Thank you!
I am actually thinking to get into baking my first cake a bit nervous but what do you do with the excess? Also is there a video on how you make your fondant
I tried to have a look but couldn't find anything on your videos - would you please be able to do a tutorial on transferring cakes from your board to another server/cake board :)
Hello. Thanks for a really helpful video. I have two questions. First would this work with another layer of sponge and second how do you transfer your finished cake to its final board. Thanks so much.
Sylvie Barger www.cakesbakesandcookies.com/2011/05/28/my-mums-madiera-cake-is-the-best-in-the-world/ This recipe is great for celebration cakes. It’s yummy, but a bit more sturdy being a madeira cake so it covers and stacks well x
You mentioned that you used Sainsbury's icing in another comment but I was wondering how you keep the icing nice and smooth without it cracking or drying throughout the whole process. I find that I cannot touch the icing too much or it will crack and wrinkle. Thank you for the tutorial! 💗
Hi love your videos, so helpful and I’ve used a couple of the techniques with success. Could I ask a question, when a cake has been covered in fondant should I store it in a cake box at room temperature? I’m concerned the fondant will dry out etc before customer arrives to collect the following day.
I made my own royal icing when recreating this cake and used colouring gel. I used Renshaws fondant for the cartoon figures I needed for the top. To set it I used a hairdryer. I’m a noob though, but the cake turned out amazingly well.
Hi, do you have step by step procedure of this so that I can print it? I'm planning to share this with my students. I also want to know how did you prepare your ganache. Thank you.
I've seen this hundreds of times (by all different UA-camrs) and it never hurts to watch another person's methods and explanation. Yours was so easy to follow. Thanks!!

Hi, Thank you so much. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the tutorial and enjoyed the way it was filmed.
This was by far the best tutorial I have ever seen on how to get those sharp edges!

Thank you - couldn’t find an explanation of the steps before fondant and fancy decorations so this is soooo helpful. Thank you!! X

Wow thank u so much ! I’m 13 and new ish to baking, and this helped me so much ! Thanks 😊 ☺️
This is brilliant! I wasn't using 2 smoothers for my fondant & this will help me immensely! Thank you.
