    One sex health tip I always give out is to pee after sex (it flushes out bacteria) and clean with a wet wipe. If you don't, it can cause UTIs, which are incredibly painful and can cause real damage to your bladder and kidneys, if left untreated.

    My sexual education came from my parents. They always talked about it openly. I never felt sex was something to be ashamed of or anything. I waited 'til marriage. I have only been with my husband and I am really happy with my choice :)

      Elle I am sorry that is the case for you :| My parents are Jehovah's Witnesses and so am I. We believe that when someone wants to make a conscious choice, that person needs to know about the subject so as to be able to decide if they will or will not do something and the reasons why they decide that. That is why my parents talked about it with me openly and I was able to make a decision for myself. Maybe you could try to find a moment when your mom or your dad are able to talk with you calmly and tell them that there is a lot of information about sex going on everywhere and that you wanna know from their perspective, that you want them to talk with you about it and not hear it from someone else? It is just an idea. I truly hope you will be able to have a healthy talk about sex with your parents :) All the best to you!

    I had got chlamydia when I was 18-21 twice and was so afraid I would never have children , I tried and tried and nothing until I left the partner I was with at the time come to find out he the one that gave it to me I got treated and been with the man I’m gonna marry and now I’m 18 weeks pregnant , god truly does miracles and it took me only 6 months to get pregnant , also cause I was irregular on my period so maybe that’s why it took a little longer but i was so blessed that I could be a mom . Now due in February 18 2019! NEVER GIVE UP !!!

      hi, would you mind sharing how long your dr made you wait for the surgery? I was diagnosed with HPV last year and told I have abnormal cells but that they should clear up on their own and to follow up with a obgyn in 6 months to a year, going for an appt soon but I am terrified that I waited too long to follow up.

    • @GinAmber

    • @OceanIvy09
      @OceanIvy09 6 років тому +7

      Not everybody that has hpv needs “the surgery” your doctor would tell you if need a biopsy done. Best practice is to follow up with regular paps.

    • @GinAmber
      @GinAmber 6 років тому +3

      I got pap smear positive for HPV then they took biopsy and it was positive too, then after that like in 3-4 weeks I had the surgery done. After surgery which was 9 years ago I'm fine.

      HPV never goes away..even if u had surgery to take it out.just means that it was forming and u got that part out..it’s Like chicken pox it gets locked back inside and comes out when ur immune system is weak..for guys u can’t test Becuz it’s not 100% accurate..so it is a killer! Be careful if u have it becuz U can spread it..even through kissing!

    I think it happens in a lot of Hispanic households where parents don’t talk about STD’s and sex. They just always say to be careful but they don’t mention the consequences. I learned about everything when I was in high school and took a health class. I was always the one that told my friends that they needed to be tested and I would even get tested myself to make them more comfortable.

    • @Neverseenstars
      @Neverseenstars 6 років тому +8

      Minerva O To be honest,I think its probably a lot of first generation households. Because my parents were born here. My mom always talked to me about sex and Stds since I was quite young. I mean yeah she is old fashioned and she prefers if I wait til marriage but she doesn't want me pregnant or to have to go through the pain of Stds. ( Yeah I'm mexican)

    This video totally made me cry because I was one of the ones that thought it would never happen to me and I was carrying the HPV virus for a very long time because there isn't a whole lot of symptoms and unfortunately I did not know and the HPV virus turn into cervical cancer for me. So yes it's so important to get tested and to just make sure you're okay

    • @purplegum1383

      Melinda Watkins hpv is very common /: i got it last year fortunately it hasn’t turned bad but I have been checking

    • @Pinkybaby81
      @Pinkybaby81 6 років тому +4

      Lightbeing1111 keep up on checking. They told me I had it but most just fight it off and my body probably will just fight it and I'll be fine..that's all I heard "most body's fight it off and it doesn't turn bad" so I thought ok I'll be fine let's not go back..didn't go back I for a couple years and when I did, I had cancer :( I promote getting checks to everyone and anyone who will listen. Prayers to you that everything turns out good for you! It was a hard battle.

    • @purplegum1383
      @purplegum1383 6 років тому

      Melinda Watkins are you okay now ? I checked earlier this year they told me to come back after 3 years

    • @Pinkybaby81
      @Pinkybaby81 6 років тому +6

      Lightbeing1111 I have been in remission for going on 3 years cancer free... But I get my scan in a couple weeks they think it may have resurfaced, I'm staying positive. Anyways just my opinion I'm not a professional but my advice please get checked yearly especially if any signs came up.. or if you have the slightest concerns. I have to see my oncologist every 3-6 months for another 3 years.. then it will go back to yearly unless the cancer is back.

    I was informed by my mom and school-- and my own googling research (LOL) about sex education.
    My very protective Hispanic mom would always scare me and warn me with photos of severe STD symptoms and remind me that if I ever chose to have sex to stay protected or if no protection was present to just abstain. I love this video Dulce! So happy that there are people like you willing to discuss personal experiences to help others in the younger generation! I was dating a police officer and was very careful and didn't know he was cheating on me. Where I live the Planned Parenthood changed the policy at that time that when ur birth control prescription was up in 3 months, u had to go in and get STD testing before a refill. I got the call I got chlamydia. I was devastated and that ultimately how I found out he wasn't being faithful. I learned that even in a good profession, one where they are supposed to protecting people, can do harm to people themselves without realizing the true damaged they cause.

At that age I lost my virginity to my now husband but because I knew he had been sexually active with other girls prior to me, I took it upon my self to have him get checked and I myself got check. Wow you are incredible brave to talk about this on your channel and I applaud you! I too had a similar experience. When I was about 20, I had a abnormal pap. I was told that I had HPV and I was so incredible scared. I had to have a biopsy done, which confirmed that I had pre cancer cells. I was incredibly lucky that it was caught early enough to be treated. I had to have a Leep procedure done to remove part of my cervix. I have continued to get Pap smears every year since then and have not had any other abnormal paps, Thank GOD! I think it is so important to openly discuss these issues so that people become more educated. You have inspired me to not feel ashamed and to tell my story to as many people as I can.

      S Fort I wasnt completly sure but i googled it and it said its curable, all i know is that if you wait too long to get treatment on it, it damages your reproductive system and it usually cant be reversed.

    I wish I knew how easy it was to get stds and how easy it can be to be safe and practice safe sex. I feel like parents should educate their children or even high schools should offer class. So many people, including myself, are sexually active at a young age and don't know anything at all. I think it's better to be young and safe than young and unaware or unaware at any age. I took a class in college on human sexuality that taught me so much I wish I had known three years prior when I was actually making decisions that I probably shouldn't have. Thank you so much Dulce

    I definitely did NOT have the talk from my Mexican parents lol shoot I didn't even get the period talk. Like damn my mom could've at least given me a warning so I wasn't walking around the mall in my white shorts and red stains appearing all over 😳but that's beside the point. I'm 30 and have always been prone to frequent UTIs after sex. when I started having sex at 17, I would get that intense burning after peeing and when I would tell my mom, she would all of a sudden get mad, not acknowledge the issue and hand me antibiotics from Mexico to take. At the time I was so confused as to why she would get all mad. Like HELLO I'm the one in horrific pain when I'm peeing 😂 She never did tell me what that pain was. I didn't know until I was pregnant with my first and was constantly getting them. It's when I learned I'm one of the unlucky few that gets them no matter how careful or "clean" the hubs and I are. Now that I have 10,8,3 yr olds it makes me nervous to have all "the talks" but I know it's important to not send them out there in the world doing things blindly. They need to know all the risks and to never be afraid to come to us for anything.

    I got extremely lucky on having an amazing mom who is a nurse! When I was 6 years old she sat me down and opened this fat ass book about the reproductive system and as I got older she would show me more fat ass books about sexual health lol I got really lucky, i was always very aware about things like this. I got my period when I was 9 so when I was 10 I got the the vaccine that prevents hpv. Since my mother was like that with me I know I'm going to be like that with my daughter because it's so important for everyone to be more aware about sexual health and the reproductive system. Our bodies really is something that we have to protect

    My mom was the one who told me not to have sex with just anyone. She would always tell me it just takes one time to get pregnant. I was always scared to have sex because I thought I would get pregnant. But thankfully I waited and Ive only been with 1 person, my now husband and Im really happy I didn't give it up so freely. Its been 7 years and thank God no babies yet.

It’s turned into cervical cancer and I found out about the cancer at 13 weeks pregnant. 😩 I had the biopsy but can’t have anymore of my cervix removed because it would terminate the pregnancy. I wish I would have gotten the Gardasil shot when I was younger. I never thought I'd get HPV so I never got the shot. However, HPV can last for 1-2 years in guys/girls, so even if you're with a partner, and you're exclusive, you can still get HPV from him even if you wait a year after dating to start being sexually active with each other. Seriously. That's what happened to me. When a guy gets tested for STDs, they don't check for HPV (it's difficult to test in men). So, even though I thought I was being responsible by waiting 8 months to have sex, making sure we both get tested beforehand...you can still get HPV! So get Gardisil. I have my 6-month follow up pap-smear next month and am hoping I'm now HPV-negative (90% of HPV cases resolve on their own in 2 years), but there's still a chance it could turn into cervical cancer or I may need surgery like Dulce had. It's scary to be worrying about your health.

    • @Besame0
      @Besame0 6 років тому +17

      Gardasil can cost infertility and there's no science approved that it's actually works, it just it might work. Also there is a lot of side effects and even deaths. Please read more about it.

    • @mle011
      @mle011 6 років тому

    • @mle011

      With all due respect, it's scare tactics like this that made my mom not want me to get vaccinated with Gardasil when I was younger. Cervical cancer can also lead to fertility issues and even death, and since Gardasil, cervical cancer rates have significantly decreased. I'll take my medical advice from medical professionals (i.e. my doctor) and not from UA-cam comments.

    • @Besame0
      @Besame0 6 років тому +10

      mle011 haha doctors and farmacy make money from those vaccines 😊 and in my country they only vaccinate girls 10-13 age who are still virgin, because there's no point after that cause this vaccine are not a cure from hpv. It's just a thing which MAYBE prevent hpv. Hovewer it's your life and your choise so be smart 🙄

      It’s called a colposcopy. A Tylenol should help. It depends on the severity of the case when anesthesia is needed.

    • @TubnQT
      @TubnQT 4 роки тому +1

      No, a colposcopy is only a tiny sample to see if you have Carcinoma in Situ I, II, or III. Carcinoma in Situ grade III is non-invasive cancer and requires surgery, either with a scalpel or a laser. Or you could have invasive cancer and need surgery. A colposcopy is just like using a paper hole punch to get a sample while you are awake.

    I love that you made this video! I love your honesty and you are so strong for opening up about this “taboo” topic. Growing up in a Hispanic household my parents, mainly my mom, scared us about sex and would constantly yell at us “you better not get pregnant!” And it made us feel like that was the only thing that can happen from sex. This was instilled in our minds but here was never any conversation about safe sex. And I wish my mom would’ve had a warmer more in depth conversation about it instead of yelling at us and making us feel dirty about it. I am now 30 years old so I’ve learned a lot on my own through mistakes and I really hope young girls who are curios can see this and learn about it the right way. Again, thank you for this.

I work in a hospital, and one of my patients was sleeping around and somehow caught the flesh eating bacteria. He lost half his pelvis/groin, all the flesh needed to be cut out asap to save his life. I had no sexual education at home and very little in school. I grew up feeling ashamed of my sexuality, and once I became sexually active, I contracted HPV. Like you, I had a leep procedure on my cervix. Thankfully it cleared on its own and I've had a clean bill of health ever since, I'm 41 ys/o now. Thanks for sharing so openly and honestly! It helps me having gone through it, and those who need to know before they become sexually active. ❤️
