so true. recently my mom threatened to kick me out for being unproductive (im turning 18 in 5 days and suffer from ocd, depression, and epilepsy). i also recently lost the guy i loved for 5 years. she told me it's not that hard to be productive, when it really is. i can hardly get out of bed, and when she gave me an ultimatum of "do things or leave," i told her i'd rather die. her response was "oh so you've been scared of death your whole life but now you wanna die?" in an angry tone. thanks, mom

@@misspillow3honestly, try the little things that make you feel productive first, ones that push you towards a certain goal you may have (I.e. simple things like improving a certain aspect in drawing skills, or making a farm in Minecraft lol), and set up a timer to do the goal at least 30 mins a day or even more if you feel like it. the more you do this, the more you get used to it and you might feel like you can turn the 'simple' things to become a bit more complex like going out for a walk, studying, etc.
apologies for the unsolicited advice but its what I did to get used to the feeling of being 'productive' (it was so hard back in the day for me to even try walking outside), and it might work for you-the problem is just being consistent with it and having a goal in the first place lol.
the way your mom went about forcing you to be productive just won't work especially if she says it like that. don't try to be productive for your mom, try to be productive for your own sake ! GL!!

'When you watch UA-cam videos, your body isn't relaxing!* If you have ever watched a movie or show and felt tense about what is about to happen next, scared, frighten or excited or felt curios, or had a conclusion as to the plot, or it's particular twist, then you know your brain is immersed in what you are watching. Consuming stories and media doesn't allow your mind to rest. The default node network activates in a highly habituated tasks, for example driving, taking a walk, etc. For some people it happens during cleaning, or cooking. The point is that you are running on autopilot. For some of you, cleaning may still require a cognitive load that is yet still inefficient. If you must think a lot, to clean up or to cook, than that again isn't relaxing. But if you have a task you occasionally go cross-eyed on, and then find yourself still having completed it, that is your task where the default node network is active. That is when you brain works on solutions without trying.

And those who need us most can't really help us much. We have to recognize this and seek the help we need without shame. Cause there's always someone bigger better more wise than you. Those people actually find joy to bestow success to us as well. But you best appreciate it. And the cycle will continue. We gotta connect to our elders and our leaders in respect that they help us. We help those under us. So if your lacking. Maybe you gotta just humble yourself a bit more and go ask some help from the big dogs around you. I learned how to do this. And I've started hanging around dudes who run businesses. Helping them with grunt work. But they bless the heck outta me. And I won't ever let them down. Cause people like us know the pain of being let down so many times and gaining nothing. We know how to be a worthy vessel to appreciate a fellow mans fruits. So maybe think about that. Your also in need. Who should you be asking for help? You'll be rejected in that venture but you'll also meet someone who was waiting for you all along kinda like a ninja finding his master and than you inherit the role in our community.

This is very very true. I spend 1-3 months a year doing nothing at home. Actually when you factor in unproductive work tasks, I have spent half of my life doing nothing. I am pretty far ahead in my career. Should make mid six figures in my early 30's (around 200/hr. I make over 50/hr right now). Never worked 80 hour weeks. Never worked 2 jobs. I personally think hustle culture makes people stupid.Hustle culture promotes directly competing with a thousand other people. Its impossible. When you tackle the problem from the angle of being lazy, you can identify tons of ways to not have to directly compete with others for resources. This comes at a huge advantage. Mainly, you have enough extra energy to capitalize on random opportunities thrown your way.

Maybe think about something, but without too much pressure - remember that it's a time for you, not a time to create a perfect plan, solve some complex problem etc. I doubt if this exact state actually occurs if you just scroll through instagram reels or do something like this. Maybe partially but it's not that beneficial. Nowadays we are too addicted to constant brain stimulation and we don't give our brain enough time to do it's job in the background - subconsciously. Remeber, I'm not a neurobiologist and I might be just repeating some bullshit I heard from someone who was just repeating some bullshit lmao However, it sounds logically to me.

Its about the balance. Don't push yourself too hard, but definitely don't be unproductive. With this mentality, you getting nowhere. If I spend a weekend in bed, I feel like an outcast when I step outside on Monday. Just be realistic idk

Don't know what you're talking about. Gone from full time to a whopping 2 days a week. It's terrible, spending all day relaxing, rediscovering those things I couldn't enjoy the past decade, toking up whenever I want...horrible. Haven't felt this good since my 20s. Absolutely horrible.

Though you make an excellent point in this video some of the words used in the title are slightly misleading. Being unproductive is stagnating. Doing nothing isn’t being “unproductive”, it’s just you switching your brain to a balanced mode in order to achieve what some call “the flow”. If we want to be truly productive we have to understand how to best switch off the stress reactions in our brain so it actually can help us produce the good results that we are obviously after. Just my two cents.

I've been thinking a lot about making videos blending 3D animation and commentary type videos for a while now, this is a huge inspiration for me.
