Mmmmmm…..I’m sorry but I found the rep for the manufacturer quite evasive. I have the original version of Bredas which I’ll be honest, I’ve always loved - but frankly, I see nothing in the new version to change my personal opinion that my Seabells glass nippers (and the rest of their range are much better value and design). Just my opinion of course because we all know how personal choice on tools can become - especially when usage, hand size and health issues vary for us all - and influence our buying choice accordingly. However, I am equally sure that the battle of the tool brands in the mosaic art community will still produce on-going tribal loyalties - 😝 😜 😂

LOL, I thought he was more articulate and so much better at speaking than me. lol. Fair comments and you are right the battle for tool brands will always be there especially when loyalties are involved. I am just pleased that companies are making hand tools specific for mosaic artists and glass artists rather using tools designed for the tile industry. Appreciate the comment and thanks so much for watching Wendy. :)

Thank you for this review. I used to be a "Breda girl" until I watched your review of the Sea Bell nippers. I love the Sea Bells and they are my "go-to" nippers, but I continue to use my Breda's at times. After your review, I'm thinking I will stay with the Sea Bells. (maybe in the future, if I need to purchase a new pair, I will consider the new Breda's). I find I can control my Sea Bells better in making the curved glass I need for animal fur and bird feathers, etc. Again, thank you for your most honest and helpful review!

Thankyou so much Ellen. I love my SeaBells and they are my go to nipper for glass as well and will continue to be. You are right the type of cuts you make in mosaics is so relevant to the type of tool that you use and of course the ease of being able to do it with that tool. Appreciate your comment and thanks for watching. 😊

Thanks for this Peter. I agree with you about it being a shame that it doesn't go over 5 mm, but it is excellent for thinner glass. I just wanted to add that as I understand it the Breda has been tested for how much it increases your leverage - 5 times I believe - and it is this as well as the light weight which makes it easier to use for those with hand problems. I am not aware of any leverage data for other tools. Marian

Thanks so much Marian. Yes you are right the 5 times the force does make it easier to nip the glass, I am not aware of the leverage on other tools either. I was told how to actually measure that force so I will be looking into that with other tools and see if they have the same multiplication factor, should be interesting. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching. 🙂

G'morning, Peter....I have a pair of the original Breda nippers design and have had a problem maintaining a tight fit on the upper wheel. I need to retighten it every 2-3 nips when working on glass (only using them on glass). While I love using them for all their wonderful attributes, this has made them inefficient and unreliable to use at all. My costly tool is just gathering dust. I don't want to risk stripping the screw but I don't know how to correct this problem. Do you have any suggestions? I'd appreciate anything you can share. Thank you.....Lynda

Hi Lynda. You may be able to use a couple of drops of Loctite to keep the screw from undoing. It comes in different strengths so use the lowest strength one, this is important, so you can undo it again. Generally Loctite is sold at hardware and tools stores, just seek their advice before purchasing. Thanks for watching. :)

@@TreasuryRoad Thanks for your suggestion, Peter. I was thrilled that while trying to again reach the designer of the original Breda nippers, I received a response from Ryan, the new owner of the Breda 2.0 version. He kindly offered to send me a new screw and nut replacement for my older design model that should satisfy my concern. To me, that speaks volumes of Ryan's character as he is correcting a problem that wasn't originally his.

That’s awesome, hopefully that will fix the issue and lm glad Ryan was able to help you. He does seem like a good guy and l never thought about contacting the company to see if they could help. It’s great you have two solutions now, thanks for the update. 😊
