Thank you so much! I'm in cosmetology school right now and I'm not out on the floor yet. We just got done with color, and I told my instructor that I did not feel 100% comfortable with color yet. She told me that that is normal and I will learn more on the floor! I'm trying to have faith in what she is saying, but it's hard. I just came across your videos today and I've already showed my classmates!! You make everything make so much more sense! My instructor is 23 years old and just received her license a couple years ago, so its hard because she don't have that much experience. It has been my dream to be a cosmetologist so I'm not ever giving up and I'm obsessed with learning! I am in recovery, I have 4 years sober, and I feel like I've wasted so much time, and I'm playing catch up. Your videos have done so much for me!

She is right. I will be honest; I spent most of my hours in school rolling perms. I have only had ONE paying customer ask for a perm in my 13 years of being a hairdresser. It felt like a big waste of time to focus on something I would never use but was a necessary evil. Most of my learning came from experience, making mistakes in the salon, and asking questions to those who were way ahead of me. Give yourself grace; you are right where you need to be. Congrats on the four years! & thank you for sharing with your class! On my site (brittneealexushair.com), there are printable guides, and on my main channel, you'll find hair tutorials that are older ( I am doing my best to clean them up, re-shoot them, and move them to this channel, but it takes a long time) most importantly, HAVE FUN in school!!!

BUT WHAT ABOUT IF YOU NEED TO DO A SLIGHT COLOR CORRECTION FIRST BEFORE THE HIGH/LOW LIGHTS? DOES THE TONER DO THAT IN THE END? IN OTHER WORDS, NO NEED FOR A COLOR CORRECT TO SOMEWHAT EVEN OUT THE BASE COLOR? NOTHING TOO DRASTIC TO FIX JUST TO EVEN OUT. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@@brittneealexushairI have mistakenly asked the ladies at 2 different Sally beauty’s to help me get the yellow/orange out of my hair as it ALL turned that color after they advised me to use T14/T19 with 20 developer because it lifted me light brown hair too now I have god awful yellow & orange all over😢
I’m a cake decorator for fun & work in the medical field- by far a hair color specialist lol. I just wanted to get the yellow/orange out of my cap highlights.
      My questions:
      1. can I do a root smudge (to get my light brown back AND this process you show in the video to get these awful colors fixed?
2: do I base my level off of my natural or the mess of yellow orange?
I watched several of your other videos on color theory, smudge etc. I’m learning so much! Thank you ☺️

Usually I use the T14 or T18 but it’s still yellow/orange and I have like 3 different colors going on and it looks so bad! Now it’s a cool white, no weird line between my roots and previous color! I just tried toning my hair and was surprised at how well it came out. My hair is highlighted professionally to a level 10 (along with a good amount of gray) and I just reached the point that I can't justify the amount of money that I've been spending over the years. I used T14 with 10 volume developer. I was suggested to leave the toner in between 20-40 minutes (and I split the difference at 30 minutes) and I'm thrilled with the result. I'm back to being a nice ashy blonde and lost none of the dark dimensions. It's definitely something that I'm now comfortable doing now that I've actually taken the plunge.

Hey, when you tone your hair with a permanent color and 10vol. Your roots can shift to a warm color because 10vol lifts the hair. What i like doing is using something like a 5vol mixing the color and leaving it 5-10 minutes before applying it. I do this so it doesn’t lift up the roots.

I am so glad I found your channel you explain everything well in the video for people who don’t go to cosmetology school, I also really enjoy the recaps at the end and the nostalgia 90s posters and toys 😂

Is there a way to lower your developer? I've ran out of 20vol but have 30 & 40 vol left was hoping I could use them up rather than throwing them out. So glad your doing hair videos again, at home hair bleacher here 😊

Thank you for this video, I've spent so much time searching for information. I've tried to find a box which says Toner and I haven't found any in stores. Only finding permanent colors. This is such helpful information that I can actually pick a Permanent color! and make it a toner myself.
