- I show you how you can effectively brighten your blonde hair and tone it in one step using the Wella color charm toners. I have been a fan of Wella color charm toners for years, as it was my first uploaded toning video on UA-cam. I love the range of this line as well as the beautiful tones you get from each level as well as the versatility of mixing and matching tones to achieve a perfectly balanced and personalized shade!
Here's a link to the Wella Liquid Toners I used to achieve this transformation:

You're a Godsend! I've been having trouble with toning my bleached hair as long as I can remember. You nailed it! Thank you and God bless!
You always give the best advice and show your actual work and how it looks on you. I did my hair today with three shades of the Color Charm. I needed to leave it on a little longer, but none the less. it gave me a great lift. Understanding how to tone blond hair has been my biggest challenge. I have tried a lot of other toners too. But this toner seems to work the best. I finally got a great hairdresser who works from her home. I am aging and my hair is graying. I am not going to give up on my blond color, but understanding how to get the beige or brass out of it, will help me look more appropriate and put together for my age. Thanks for all the great information you have given over these years. You have no idea how much it helps.
Sylvia, the color your hair is now is the most BEAUTIFUL I have seen it, in all the years I have been following you. I love it!
You are definitely influencing people with your mix of toners! I used your video to do my hair in 2014 and I met my husband that year. He loves to remind me how much he loved that hairstyle. 💜
Awe how sweet 🥰
When I was in cosmetology school I mistakenly died my hair in red, met my husband that year. He reminds me too of that color. Have been married for 20 years, so I would add strawberry blonde low lights when going to a salon 🥰
I know you're known for your blonding videos, but you should do a tutorial on getting your curls/waves to look like this. It's so pretty.
Totally agree!
I will add it at to the list of new videos!
Yes please!!!!
Yes!! I’ve been trying so hard to get my hair styled like that, but it’s a struggle
Please include the layering techniques you use too! I have similar hair and struggle with how to ask my stylist to layer it
Gorgeous Silvia 😍😍😍 My last visit I went for a pink toner just for fun and a change. I used my pink shampoo to keep it fresh for a couple of weeks. The last time I washed it I used my cleansing shampoo and deep conditioner, it's come out the most gorgeous iridescent pearl shade. I love having fun with toners, especially someone who is a level 3-4 naturally, really enjoying being a blonde. I've got a great hairdresser who never takes offence if I send him one of your videos for tips and I can tell him to do what he wants! Great when you have that kind of trust xxx
Another video that has saved my hair, I really needed you today to be comfortable retoning my hair and it turned out beautifully✨💯 I can’t thank you enough for your easy step by step tutorials and amazing explanations!!
YOUR HAIR IS ALWAYS HAIR GOALS!! literally can rock any colour 💖
Thank you so much! Love your results and for explaining the process so easily. Your hair looks gorgeous! 👍🥰👏🏼
I was literally just thinking of how I need to tone my hair up and you read my mind! Love ya girl
It's amazing seeing this video after watching your first T18 and T11 mixture toning video. I remember watching it when I was first learning how to bleach and tone my own hair. I've successfully gone from level 4 brown to platinum and silver thanks to you! I personally want to say thank you for your videos and I hope you, Adam and baby are doing well! ❤️
Aw this comment makes me so happy. This is still my number 1 message that I get when I meet one of you in person!
@@Ellebangs can you point me to that original video with the T18 and T11? I can't find it.
What a lovely shade/ tone . I will try this combination for winter holidays. ❤️ You look as beautiful as when I watched your first toning videos.
I just did this exact formula yesterday in my dark brown base hair with lots of highlights that were showing two inch roots and just faded brassy yellow my hair just looked dull. I used 10 vol thinking I wanted to deposit more than lift. Well it was excellent. I felt like it calmed everything down, made the hair just be a little more uniform and blended. Wow. Thank you so much for $20 bucks it was a success! Question how often it says it’s permanent but I think not with 10 vol developer.
Your result is amazing, beautiful colour.
I tried this method with the t18 and t27 mixture for my balayage and love it!! This was my first time trying to tone my hair at home and it turned out perfectly blended! I don’t think it lightened any pieces, but just took the brassiness out of my blonde pieces. I’ve already gotten so many compliments☺️
Did it have any gold tones in it. I pull a lot of gold/brass no matter how light I go.
@s a hi..Did you already have blond or bleached hair? Otherwise it has to be lightened . Maybe try 30 Volume .I want to blond my brown Hair without using powder bleach gradually so I think using 30 Volume with ash blond colors every. 2 months will start gently lifting..20 volume just deposits color for Me..Be careful on your hair plz..Is she just using a toner or regular Wella hair color? I'm not a hair stylist like her but yah her hair really got blond. She doesn't have red tones at all so maybe for her it really blonds up easy than for Us
I want to try this ! Cause I do t want to pay $$ to redo it at the salon 🙁
Same I tried it my hair im already a blonde well blond balayage a level 7/8 more on the 8 side and it did absolutely nothing for me beside make my hair feel more dry and brittle 😢
Just beautiful on you!! Thank you, i will try these Colorcharm toners!
I’m learning how to keep up with my hair thank you your the best 🙌🏼🌺
I always use color charm products , they are consistently good. Thanks for the lesson !!
You always do a great job, explaining all of the necessary steps and details 👏
This is exactly the look I want. I’m going to try this!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for making your videos informative and enjoyable to watch because 90% of tutorials just don’t cut it for people doing at home hair and you upload a good amount of new videos even though this one is a year ago every time I do my hair I like to refresh my brain and get new ideas and it’s the same videos every single time 😅 so thank you again love your channel ❤
And yes I’m up at 1 am about to do my hair while my kids are sleeping 😂❤ so thank you again
I always come back to wella permanent toner!
I venture out, even trying shades eq, and I always like my results with these better
my hair just came out awesome. Thanks!!!!!!!
I have to thank you for the perfect timing of your video on this subject. I touched up my highlight/roots yesterday but did not have time to tone (which was going to be a first for me as a DIY). I had the T27 toner and was still a little foggy as to the details of what toner does. You came in right on time to teach me what i needed to know before doing this. I truly appreciate your guidance and eloquent explanations. You are a valuable contributor to your profession.
Thanks Love!
Hey Serena, just a question. I'm looking to touch up my roots/highlights like you did. Did you bleach your roots first, then tone the roots first and then rest of your highlighted hair? I have some regrowth I need to lighten first but I'm not sure when I put toner in, do I put it on roots first, let it sit for a few minutes then tone the rest of my hair. Any advice is appreciated x
Same here?😅
@@Ellebangs Hi Sylvia. Was your hair damp or dry when you applied this?
@@RegisteredNurseL.A.her hair was dry.
This is one of your most beautiful hair colors and looks ever.!.I'm going to Sally's to get these products and pray it turns out like You 🙏..
Thank you sooooo much! I literally just went to Sally’s and got this! Can’t wait to try!
Been watching (blonde) and using this method since 2018!
Love this cut!!! Great job!!
Your hair is off the charts beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing!
It looks so beautiful!! 😮
Thank you for making this so clear.
I have mixed Toners and even used Two Different shades on Bleached Hair like a baby lights process. I have also added a Toner ( Clairol CREME Toner ) to Miss Clairol Creme Formula to cool - down or Modify the Tint. I have also created a Color Gloss with Tint and Conditioner Mixed.
This was great! I'm a natural blonde and looking for something to brighten my hair up without using bleach. I found your high lift video the other day but still debating how I want to proceed. It's been so long since I've colored or bleached my hair and I don't want to be all over platinum like I once was. Also, having gone to cosmetology school almost 15yrs ago and stopped working in the field 10yrs ago, I've lost some of the knowledge. If you have any videos that I can watch, I'd love the recommendation! thank you for sharing!
I have been watching your videos for a while now and decided to leave a positive comment that will hopefully inspire others to try this at home. Because it works!
For reference, I’m a natural brunette with long voluminous hair. I had the balayage done a few years back and paid $350 to get my hair so damaged I had to do a long Bob.
Because of covid, not being able to go back to the salon, I found myself experimenting at home. First mistake I made, I tried henna. I KNOW!!! Trying to go down the healthy route, BUT, I’m past my 30’s with grays on my sideburns and dark tones just makes me look older. SO, I decided to gradually get rid of the henna by getting regular trims, doing clarifying shampoos and color correcting at the salon to get the green/blue tones off. As you all know, these color correction sessions can get very pricey.
Now that I only have 2-3 inches left of the henna (green/blue tones) left at the ends, I headed to a Sally store and bought “Quick Blue bleach by L’Oréal with 30 developer and did a few strands of baby lights, keeping a slide in between and weaving the second slide I bleached, not touching the roots at all, a couple in the back for when I pick up the hair, a few at the crown on both sides for parting in the middle, and a few up front diagonally for framing the face. I left it for about 30 minutes to get a light honey color. Washed the hair and blow dried the roots. I followed up with AGEbeautiful 7A with 20 developer for a root touch up, waited about 30 minutes and added Wella’s T18 mixed with the T27 and 20 developer to the entire hair and waited about 20 minutes then washed and did a deep conditioning treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results! The colors blended beautifully, no brassiness on the root or mid shaft sections, and small amount of very pale bluish on the ends from the old henna. I let it air dry about 50% (to minimize damage) then gently blow dried and cut about an inch off.
I only spent $37 of product and still have bleach, toner and developer left!!!
Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, very educational and helpful!
Great thorough explanation. Thanks for this wonderful video. Greetings to your beautiful family❤️
Thanks so much for this. My hair looks so good!
Gorgeous as always👌🏻
Your talent is unreal and you are so gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I love it! I wish I could show you my results; but I’m obsessed! It’s gorgeous!
Do you have it in your current profile pic ?
I do love your tutorials. Would be nice to hear some advice on brown hair, not just for blondes.
I learned this technique years ago and still due it till this day!!! Thank you so much , you saved my hair
Is it long lasting ? Or temporary?
@@passadonuta toner is always temporary
I wish I had found your channel sooner😩 my hair has been through hell and back trying to achieve these results..I have since gone back to my brunette roots..
I’m doing this before the holidays to refresh my blonde pieces from balayage. Thank you so much! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
So beautiful!!
Best video of all!!!!! Thank you doll!
Thank you so much you helped a lot! I could not figure out what to do until I seen your video
yaaayyy i missed those types of videos!! love them!
Thanks ! We love your videos !
This method gave me the blonde I’ve always wanted. I’ve been successful with coloring and highlighting my curly hair at home, but it’s ALWAYS more golden/yellow than I want. I am finally a sandy blonde without being too ashy. I will use this toner combo forever, thank you so much for this tutorial!! ❤
Unfortunately it was short lived and the toner lasted only about a week. And seemed to really, really dry out my hair. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be using it again :(
@@KendraKat82that’s strange . Did you wash with shampoo & conditioner for color treated hair ?
@@passadonut yes I only use color safe natural products
@@KendraKat82toner never lasts very long unfortunately. Try only washing your hair once or twice a week, and use purple shampoo to keep the hair from repigmenting itself with the gold.
@@ALT-vz3jn I have a question 🙋♀️ Should I apply toner on wet or dry hair?
I LOOOOOOVE these type of videos!!!! And I don't even dye my hair!!!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you, thank you for making videos like these!!! 👏🏼😎
Just what I need today!
This is the most informative video I’ve found! Thank you for being so thorough when you are explaining details.
This is totally a sign i need to do my hair😊
Hahaha same here
This is the only tutorial I have tried that has actually worked for my hair. The color is beautiful. I had freshly bleached hair from root to tip. I have been trying DIY hair since the the pandemic started and have never been happy with the results until today. Thank you!!!
Hi Joe, did you Bleach your hair before the Tonner? Thanks
@@patriciamartorell1106you didn’t read his comment obviously…. Reread
T18 T27 wella charm toner your using is a credit to you for fab hair 💕
You’re so cute!!💕 And you gave me the guts to give it a go trying to DIY my hair that I’ve been getting highlighted for 25 years.
I started strand testing with Redken Flash Lift, their 30 vl and shades EQ, but IDK why I just couldn’t get enough lift with those products at home when I know salons had used the same bleach on my hair. I returned everything in defeat but a few months later I decided to try Schwarzkopf lightener with their 30 vl at home on some strands. Total game changer for me!! Just tested out baby lights in my bangs with it and it blended perfectly in with my half-assed salon highlights from a month ago. I’m gradually easing into this and doing so much research because I’m not 100% comfortable with it yet. I underwent some trauma in my youth testing out box dyes and finding hairdressers who may not have been licensed.😂😩 Never had any fallout, but definitely damage and things not aesthetically pleasing.
So I just ordered some of the 20 vl and plan to get some toners that work well for me (WELLA ALWAYS HAS and I’m impressed with all the Wella toning videos I’ve watched) then follow your baby lights tutorial with the 30 vl, brighten up my mids & ends freehand with the 20 vl & tone it all. I’ve bought a lot of fancy products to make sure I maintain healthy hair.
As much as I love the convenience of going to the salon, it’s always a hit or miss for me, I walk out unhappy on too many occasions and it really hurts my wallet. Planning to get a full foil maybe twice a year with the hairdresser I felt did the best job and take it from there on my own in between. My boyfriend’s too shaky & nervous and I am not trusting him with the back!😩
So, thank you for all you’ve put into this channel!!💕
I use T10 and I have naturally warm hair. The t27 I use also. I also like t14 better than 18 for cooling down my hair. When necessary.
I use T18 &T14 and I like it
Just bought these 2 toners gonna do this to my hair today..
Clear Glossing !!!
I use the Wella permanent timers to make grey hair look blonde. It works great on my clients who don't come on that often.
Hi! Which toners and what volume developer do you like for gray hair? I’m trying to go blonde to blend my gray when I get new growth in so I’d love to tone the gray to a blonde.
Due to my challenging curly hair, which many hairdressers shy away from, I've often managed it myself and appreciate your videos. However, Wella toners with PPD are harsh and messy. I've transitioned to Ion Bright Whites, which are PPD-free and cream-based. I hope you consider toning with these, though the shades can be hit or miss."
So crazy I was looking for a review on this product and found your video I got the exact two shades of color charm at Sally’s and wanted to encorporate both! This video is perfect 😂
You are my hair goals. 😍
Your videos are so helpful!
Wow this is amazing
WOW whaaaaaat!!!! AMAZING!!!
I love it, thank you so much. I have a question: how often can we do it? Every three months maybe? I’m talking about someone with fragile hair…
I really like you with darker hair. It fits your skin tone nicer.

My fave is 050 & T14 Wella colorcharm
Thank you very much for this video, you are amazing
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing
And looking forward to your new baby video!💝
So my hair issue since going with an ombré affect is that I can not update baby lights & do a root tap in the same day without the root color over toning the fresh baby lights like I never did them.😏
So I guess I’ll have to alternate processes?
Gonna try this on brown hair
Great video, thanks! Your videos have helped me keep my blonde hair beautifully toned over the past 10 years!
Btw, isn’t your baby due any day now?? 🤱🏼
I love your channel ❤
I remember the original video! 😃 tbh the toners dried my hair out back then 🙏🏼 Now I tone with colored shampoos
love love love your videos, I tried this and left it on too long. Any advice? Thanks
Absolutely love the blonde, but I also love your base. What colour would this be in a Wella colour ? I watched your previous video but I think it said a colour I'm not familiar with.
Hey girl thank you for sharing! I remember that 1st video too. What color are you using on your roots?
Happy Holidays!!!
Thank you 🙏
I love your hair color
Love this method! I have grey roots so I’ll just do my base first then this method rather than baby lights. I like more contrast anyway. Thx 🙌🌻
I have grey also.. I put the toner and developer on my roots and blonde hair, and it lifts my roots enough to not see the grey and blends it all in together better between my big colorings I do!
@@thehippie2897 Glad that’s working! I like a level 7 base that looks grown out, like a shadow root I guess. I’m finding now that I have more grey I think I need to add a little 6. Plus I don’t have a chlorine filter on my house so it washes out right quick!
@@kt9495 ah I gotcha.. I have the same problem! I’ve been looking at filters from Amazon that screw onto your shower head to get the chemicals out of mine.. even using purple shampoo doesn’t tone mine very well :/
@@thehippie2897 The blonde struggle is real!
I've watched all your videos on toning hair and it's been very helpful!!
What should you do if you want to remove brass from the secondary darker color that's blended with your roots? Since this toner lifts the hair, is there another toning product that will only remove brass without making it brighter?
Thanks for this, I have been waiting. I have my hair highlighted and the colour is off, will a toner help? Or will the base of my hair always pull through. I think the hairdresser did not lighten my hair to the right shade before depositing the toner? I use purple shampoo, that helps a bit but it is not like I am used to having my hair done.
I loved this video,thank you..
