- GT & The J-Town Press visited the Thomas County Government Center in Thomasville Georgia. Where we met some really nice and polite public officials. However, we met some that were not so nice and not professional.
The Probate Judge flipped her lid because GT and J-Town was documenting the public areas of the lobby. This judge also initially refused to accept an open records request and then accepted it after asking again. However, the response email did not provide the record that was asked for.

In Georgia, probate judges only have to be attorneys in counties with populations of 90,000 or more. Superior court judges and state court judges have to be attorneys, regardless of the county’s population.
I called, the recp. started out OK but became rude quickly.

I think the gov't hiring process must include actually going out and look for the dumbest people possible to work in these offices.

Those old public servants have become sloppy while working so they get angry when called on it. They believe anything they don’t like is illegal.
Catching the expired elevator certification was pure gold. How many public servants rode that elevator without even bothering to inspect it? Fire extinguishers are my pet peeve, I find their inspections expired EVERYWHERE.
The real pro move is to then ask to inspect the winch room. If they allow you up there... All bets are off.

This demands a call flood to this clueless judge. She has no law degree and no clue.
Somebody designs these spaces. If whoever contracts for construction of public offices doesn't specify that security be built into the design then that is on them. It seems that the design of these spaces aren't based even a little on security for private info or often anything else. Banks and many other private businesses often spend money and time on design of spaces with security in mind. Many of these government offices seem not to do that. The worst ones are where computer screens are visible but it's mind boggling to me that it doesn't make sense to someone that if they work on sensitive paperwork in clear view of the public, including people who the paperwork doesn't pertain to that that is an issue. I think it's perfectly justifiable to spend taxpayer money on secure design rather than plush expensive looking offices.
Few were smart about it. Built a one way mirror so only they can see out but the customers can't see in.
