GT visited the Columbus Georgia Health Department & tried to visit the DFCS office. Reserve Deputy threatened to arrest me if I didn't leave. It appears if the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office doesn't like the way you look they will threaten arrest and trespass you.

I think that you need to be more forceful in making these idiots say " yes I will arrest you if you don't leave" Not just "you will be arrested" because that doesn't implicate that particular officer. It just means that a officer would/could make that arrest..

Seriously, are you people insane? He was illegally recording inside the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family & Children's Services. Where low-income people go to obtain medical care, social services, apply for and recertify under social safety net programs, and to try to keep themselves, their children, and their families healthy, safe and secure. People are being seen to discuss some of the most private issues they'll ever discuss in their lives. Many are ashamed just to go there and to be seen in the first place, their dignity is being stripped from them.
While in the meantime, an extremely disturbed person is in there knocking over people like a middle linebacker and video recording and audio recording everywhere like a maniac.
Never mind this individual's egregious violations of both express department policy and Georgia law, you don't recognize the abject destruction of our most basic moral and ethical codes and values? Not every veteran shares the same "truth." I've heard some veterans say they couldn't be happier and others not so much. Granted the system does need updated and improved but you're being intellectually dishonest with yourself when you cast such a huge blanket on the issue.

I work for dph in Columbus GA and the sheriffs that patrol the office treat me like a criminal even with my name badge on. They are always on a weird power trip. It makes it very awkward to work tbh.

This man, if you can call him that, came into WIC where mothers and children are present and breastfeed opening in the lobby and was recording. This has nothing to do w/Veterans. He can't get WIC. When you come harrassing people for a video, what do you think you will get? You recorded moms and their children. The clients stated several times that they were uncomfortable. That is the first priority.
It’s up to the individual to create his/her own privacy in a public space. Perhaps the department should create a private space for clients and nursing mothers where photography would not be legal or permitted.

The clients are just like a hospital, they are covered by HEPA and they have the right to privacy. By the way, he was filming people in the hall and coming in the door. He could stay outside and film if he blacked out the people going in and out and in waiting rooms. The police were not rude and did have the right to arrest him. Oh by the way there is a sign that tells the clients they will be filmed. Also, he should not put the camera in just anyone's face he has no idea what medical reason he could start chest pain or anxiety reaction. He needs to study up on the law. He is truly lucky he wasn't handcuffed and arrested!

Someone tell me WHY a person needs to film in these businesses? Skip the argument of if it's legal or not, but WHY? People are so caught up in the argument of legality that they overlook the reasonableness of why. Even IF something is legal, if that action causes 99% of the surrounding people discomfort, then why is the other 1% so goddamm important? So tell me, since WHEN do we need to watch the employees at the post office (is there a conspiracy with giving out too many stamps)? At a private business? At a medical facility? When these frauditors make a comparison to their recording versus security cameras in the building, and they act like there is no difference... let me tell you the difference, the security footage doesn't get uploaded for the world to see and no one is making 5 figures for that video... plus a frauditor can (and does) manipulate the video that often tells a different story... so yeah, NOT THE SAME.

Looks to me they way they have created those window settings that anyone that comes up there has not privacy from the person sitting next to them - I am talking about the clients. Any client can hear and see another client. No privacy in public, right?

It means that those people in the medical profession that have been HIPAA trained have an obligation to protect and prevent the patient's records from being exposed to public.
This example may help. A doctor or nurse, or medical assistant brings a patient's medical records outside the building and drops them on the sidewalk. Dozens of people walk by, pick them up, read them, drop them, take them, photograph them. Who committed the crime? The medical personnel for compromising the records. By purpose or accident, they compromised those records. None of that public committed a crime. None of those people were responsible to "not look, not pickup, not throw back down". However, if they use or publish the personal information of anyone, not just from those patient records, - that's when they get in trouble.
