About the first 'failed' ending where you mention the laughing etc, if you fail by burning the wrong one immediately before any notepad changes happen you get a different ending where Rebecca asks whats happening and Raymond looks at her sadly and closes the door. No laughter or weird voice just him knowing whats about to happen.
yeah, seems you're partially possessed in that ending much like raymond, and I guess he decides to cut his losses so that you can't suddenly demon out and kill him
This game is terrifying but I always laugh when Rebecca folds Mr Delver like a used wet wipe and throws him with the force, it's like the scene in Layers of fear with the kid running into the wall and floats backwards in slow mo. I'm not sure if it's ment to be funny but it's a nice laugh after a long spook and terror filled playthrough
The demons endless stream of swear words is also funny. I mean how long have they been alive? You'd think their taunts would be more scathing and eloquent
I think part of the game is definitely tongue-in-cheek. The dev clearly has a lot of love for Christian "possession" media and all of its tropes, both the good and the corny.
I do believe that the Closure ending is where the story ends as Rebecca finds peace with her past and her father, meaning that the demons have nothing to torment her with and their hold is broken. Meanwhile, the reason why Mr. Delver is still held on by the demons is that he has a great deal of things that haunts him and as why he couldn't find any answers to what could stop it is that he just can't stop it on himself due to the weight that he carries, he can't find closure which would sever the hold. Of course the game doesn't end with the closure ending for the sake of gameplay as the player wouldn't want to redo the whole intro, etc every time they achieve the ending. so the game just carries on, but it's more of a personal interpretation on my part.
I can never state enough how grateful I am for videos like this. I like spooky content but I'm also 1) a huge chicken, and 2) terrible at video games, so I can never play games like this myself. I noped out of Spooky's Jumpscare mansion because I was scared of it after 30 minutes and also so so bad at it.
No shame in chicken mode it's also my lifestyle. I don't watch scary movies or play scary games. I just watch lore or gameplay, so I'm instead cheering other ppl on the journey. Because honestly I'm just not built for it. The spooky stuff sticks in my head too much.
Seriously, I usually watch and listen while doing something else but this one I just had to listen considering every time I looked up, I'd see some terrifying image 😅
I watched Harry play the demo on his other channel and I was so freaked out! It kind of amuses me how convinced I was something bad would happen to me, even tho I was merely watching someone else play a game, in which the only person in "danger" is a fictional character. So many degrees of separation from myself and even reality, and yet I still felt like I was the one being watched 😂
I’ve worked both in a morgue and at a funeral home and I can confirm that nothing like this ever occurred. Edit: We don’t embalm bodies wearing underwear, you’re completely nude, the body is way to fleshy colored to be dead (Caucasian bodies turn white soon after death as your blood settles, we use makeup to help bring back skin color). Most of the bodies I’ve prepared eyes and mouth were open when I started working on them.
Yeah you could probably guess why they aren't nude. UA-camrs playing their game gives huge exposure, basically free advertising. And the discoloration is to probably make it not "too real". Like when people get shot in the head in movies and don't go instantly limp so it doesn't disturbed people. Or I could be completely wrong. Just my assumption
Omg.....why??! You work in an actual funeral home?? Why would you watch this video at all????? Are you planning early retirement? Got a psych PPO plan you wanna use??! Why??!
"Dead body expert" its just a game. Common sense (if you have any) can tell you why they didn't allow the bodies to be nude. As for the skin color stuff & their eyes & mouths being closed, you think that even matters? Pretty sure people would be more concerned about beating the game & making it thru the jumpscares.
I love the subtle creepiness in this game, whereas most modern horror games are filled with jump scares and mostly action+thrill. Mortuary Assistant arrives with different approaches: The unawareness of horror from ghost apparition, the experiment you can try to do things, and varieties of the ghost haunting in the same place. This game is crazy good. Hoping the developer adds another storyline where the protagonist had to do a case in an unorthodox way.
Rebecca's voice actor is the secret MVP of this game. As a first-time (well, second-time) viewer, my only real complaint is that you didn't let Rebecca literally speak for herself more often. Especially during the Closure ending, her performance genuinely moved me to tears. Great video though, especially for people who are too squeamish to uncover this all for themselves.
It's rare for short indie horror games have a good voice acting or voice acting at all. The voice acting in this game did a lot for the story which is where I think the game shines
My take is that Mr. Delver was dating/married to Valerie in the 70's and he's been keeping her alive since then to find a way to save her/himself. Maria was someone he tried to maybe date and then left for her own good. There's a lot of evidence pointing to 1970 and Vallerie as she's in all of the major hallucinations that aren't related to Rebecca's traumatic past. There's the basement hatch one where you discover the code 197044 to the keysafe, before the hallucination ends you see a hallucination of Mr. Delver drinking from the wrist of a blonde, thin woman. This hallucination also starts with a big stone hand "bleeding". Or there's another one of Vallerie hanging by a leg and bleeding from her wrist into a bucket with " _ _ _ _ 44" carved into the rock wall. This combined with the "1970" on the polaroid that Vallerie points in the bathroom to also gives the code. I feel like finding her in the basement was so anticlimactic after all of those hallucinations and the "the house of death blabla the number shall be 6" (so far 5 assistants have died by posession under Mr. Delver) that there has to be more to it. Great video though! Such a shame the state of youtube these days :/
I'm not sure if you found out the real answer, and I know it's sort of a necro-post... But I wanted to clear up, Valerie or "Vallery" is not someone Mr. Delver was dating. She's a previous employee that got possessed. Evidently, she was the protagonist of like the absolute first demo.
Still trying to figure out how did Mr Delver travel the world despite being 'chosen'. Did he wake up in his bed at night to be taunted by demons or was it only inside that morgue? If the latter why not simply burn the place down? Questions, questions.
My thought (entirely unproved) was that he was in danger around any bodies, including those buried. Since you can't dodge the dead anywhere there is civilization, working at the morgue gives him a degree of control and a known factor.
maybe burning it wouldn't solve the problem, the demons would still be there, they'd just follow raymond since they're 'bound' to him. so he can travel to other places, he just can't run forever
This game is truly terrifying on its own. The hopelessness aspect of it is especially apparent to the second protagonist and us the audience seeing through her eyes.
The biggest gripe I have with this game is how f*cking stupid all the demons are, especially the one possessing Valary. Like it couldn't keep up a human act for 5 seconds and get out of the coffin?
She reminded me a lot of evil dead the og, so seeing her flip like that was solid. Like the demon was very impatient with Rebecca and having it lash out like that made sense also it could probably see she's possessed so
I'm wondering, if Raimond recorded this cassette saying "I'm a danger to anyone I may encounter and if I disappear it's not me anymore", and in his journal he states that he won't get any more assistants, does that mean that he's hiding the fact that he's already been 100% possessed, and now he's trying only to get another "souls" to be possessed with him, instead of trying to free everyone? To lure them into the mortuary?
The best part about this being reuploaded is that the new intro protects me from the INSTANT jumpscare that used to be at the start. Now clicking to rewatch this video is less scary.
Oh, UA-cam...thanks for playing and discussing these games. I can watch horror, but I cannot play or engage in it. i need an extra layer of separation, or else i am just paralyzed with fear. I like to enjoy the thrills, scares, lore, and stories through people like you. So thanks for putting in so much work to allow cowards like me to enjoy games like this!
It's because if WE'RE playing a horror game, WE'RE the ones in the horror setting, and WE'RE the protagonist of said horror game getting mentally fucked, and not some other character in a movie. Role-playing is amazing, but role-playing horror just makes everything not fun for me, like movies do. That's why Resident Evil 7 was impossible for me, on top of role-playing the MC, it's also in 1st person! Which is, quite possibly, the worst thing that could happen to scaredy cats like us 😅!
I can only watch peope play horror. Dead Space for instance. I've tried to play it time and time again. It was my dad's favourite game and at the age of 66 he still plays it. I just watch behind a pillow. The way the necropmorphs move towards you is just unsettling. I've also watched my boyfriend play PT and Outlast 2. I could never.
Thank you for making these videos, I've just been listening to them while playing games or working and you've done a great job at portraying the story in a way that I can imagine the whole thing
I said this before on the previous video and i Will Say It again: in my opinion this game didn't told us Reymond story 100% and left some dark spots on purpose
The dev has apparently said that he wants to make additional content for the game, including more possible bodies and additional in-game lore. I'm thinking Raymond Delver will be a focus, since Rebecca's story is more-or-less complete.
@@Cool_Calm_Cam i Hope so. This man still has some dark spots: how did he survive if those things started happening long before he started the mortuary? Who Is Maria? Is She linked to Valerie?
i've noticed a lot of people think the dark figure on the first night is the demon and not mr. delver, (i thought so too at first till i watched someone else play) so i'm really glad you pointed it out!
As someone who likes to know the story and some lore before playing a game, good job. I've started actively looking for some of the games you've covered because of you. Thank you for the recommendations.
Going to rewatch this because it's that good of a video. The story is balanced; simple yet complex with the amount of background(or potential thereof)to each character, which leaves plenty of space for other installations. I can see an origins game featuring Mr. Delver, where we would travel back to when he had yet to develope his methods of banishing the demons. Discovering the methods used in Rebecca's time, and the struggle to do so would make for a great game.
Thank you for this!! I watched I dont know how many playthroughs and I was still confused as of the storyline. Also, I totally agree. The Mimic is the WORST of the spirits. After a while you become acostumed to the jumpscares, but I would never get accustomed to the Mimic ones.
Thanks for these. I think horror games have amazing lore but I can't finish one without getting a heart attack XD I think you're becoming one of my favorites in the *insert game/franchise here* lore UA-camrs

Hope everything has been going well since then (and hope the youtube system hasn't been too unfavorable since too).
Of course I'm re-watching. As soon as you gave the update about it being age restricted, I knew I was gonna re-watch as soon as it came up agian. Love your videos.
Thank you for doing this video!! I can’t play the game because of my epilepsy, but I’ve been very curious about the game! I’m glad to get the full story 💜
You're one of the content creators I just put on. Like, I pay attention the first time... Then I just keep your voice around. You get watch time, I don't feel as alone. Everybody gets something.
Thanks for the Re Up Man apparently there is a bit of trouble with UA-cam and The Mortuary assistant, Coryxkenshin and other youtubers got their video age restricted or had their video deemed not eligible for ads. Still love the awesome content and i can't wait to see the next one.
I love this game! I've completed all the achievements so outside of the random startle it's not really scary to me anymore - which is expected of course, but I think there's so much potential to keep adding things to make it creepy. I hope the developer continues to update.
Normally don't watch the whole video again when it's a re-upload, but here I will make an exception. It's a great video and the age restriction was BS.
I find the mimic kind of cute. He just looks like a little guy to me. But then again I have a crush on Pinhead, so I'm probably not the best one to ask about these sorts of things
@@gabrielneves6602he thinks it’s an indie dev thing to make only one spot have a bad history when every single place on the planet has one location that has an incredibly fucked up history
idk why i assumed that raymond fell in love with one of the women, then she died and he tried resurrecting her but ended up calling out a demon instead as his origin story.
A friend of mine played and streamed it on discord. Eventually we got into the habit of just randomly saying "Rebecca" in that weird upbeat voice. We have never seen him so genuinely pissed at anyone xD The combination of our persistence and the game just doing the same "Rebecca" every now and then broke him for a while
What a great video! I watched a friend play through the first part if this game and just couldn’t get into it. I don’t know if I’m desensitized or what, but I just didn’t find it scary and thought the gameplay was boring. But the way you explained the story sent chills down my spine! 😨
When that guy showed up on the bricked in hallway ~ 10:10 he was so gruesome I literally had to look away else he’ll be showing up in my dreams tonight💀
Seems to me the missing piece Mr.Delver is looking for is closure, seeing as the only ending where you never become possessed or see the mortuary again is the one where Rebecca finds closure.
Wow the imagery in this game is so creepy! I watch a lot of horror stuff and this one got to me. Very impressive, and excellent video. Love your stuff!
Freaking bummer. Loved initial video. Some of us don’t have a means to play these games so it’s really awesome to experience them through UA-camrs like this!
What's crazy is they age restricted after Cory called out youtube for only striking him and other people of color. They took away the restriction on his video then they turned around restricted everyone after that. A few people have talked about this issue with youtube playing favorites or even being racist. Jacksepticeye, Markipliar (Doesn't talk about it but he posted a video called Try not to get age restricted challenge to prove the others points.), Corxkenshin, Ludwig and a few more. Sorry you had to repost man
Honestly, as someone who's dealt with mental health problems and addiction, I think it's ridiculous that UA-cam flagged you for talking about a story with an unfortunately grounded backstory. People should be allowed to talk about these darker subjects in videos, fictional or otherwise, because it brings awareness to the very really subject matter involved. Anyway, great video. Recovery is possible. Positive vibes. Yada yada.
Rewatching this for the second or third time since you had to re-upload it! Your videos are always ridiculously interesting so I’ve enjoyed it every time!
Well then, the sequel might be called The Rookie whereby a young cop gets assigned to investigate the curious case of missing mortuary assistants in the local county.
Markiplier managed to get the closure ending without giving the 2 sobriety milestone coins to the alternate version of Rebecca and only giving the cross to her father. What's up with that? Was it because the scares were randomized and the devs wanted the player to have the option either way?
Even this scared me a but, really want to play the game myself but I know I can’t cuz it scares me too much. I’m sticking to watching others play it instead 😭💀

"To prevent Mr. Delver from being folded like a secret note in class..."
I SPAT
David's reaction to witnessing the dead body move was so realistic it was funny
I like the concept of the lesser spirits, unique entities that work differently but have the same goal of serving their higher power.
the mimic is one of the best i ever seen, the way he shows up it's always so bizarre and it freaks me out so much
Going to rewatch this because it's that good of a video.
The story is balanced; simple yet complex with the amount of background(or potential thereof)to each character, which leaves plenty of space for other installations.
I can see an origins game featuring Mr. Delver, where we would travel back to when he had yet to develope his methods of banishing the demons. Discovering the methods used in Rebecca's time, and the struggle to do so would make for a great game.
hands down, one of the best videos you've put together, YT have issues and need to get a grip.
Thank you for this!! I watched I dont know how many playthroughs and I was still confused as of the storyline. Also, I totally agree. The Mimic is the WORST of the spirits. After a while you become acostumed to the jumpscares, but I would never get accustomed to the Mimic ones.
Found your channel with this vid. Working my way through them all. So great!
I love the slight sarcasm in the beginning when you explained the re-upload 🤣
Thanks for these. I think horror games have amazing lore but I can't finish one without getting a heart attack XD I think you're becoming one of my favorites in the *insert game/franchise here* lore UA-camrs
literally same, my heartbeat gets so fast. i get scared even in games that aren’t horror games idk why 😭🤣 i have to remind myself it’s not real and if I die I can just restart lmao i’m such a little girl about video games sumtimes
I saw at the start that this video got flagged and you giving thanks to everyone who is watching this reupload.
Personally, I had watched your Resident Evil videos and loved each one. Not only did I subscribe, but now I get to enjoy all the other videos you've done, including watching these for the first time. Hope everything has been going well since then (and hope the youtube system hasn't been too unfavorable since too).
I’ll of course rewatch! Thank you for continuing to upload!
Of course I'm re-watching. As soon as you gave the update about it being age restricted, I knew I was gonna re-watch as soon as it came up agian. Love your videos.
You talking about Raymond getting folded up like a secret note in class always throws me off😭
I think the haunts are randomized, because I got both the mental hospital and the apartment events on my first shift.
Thank you for doing this video!! I can’t play the game because of my epilepsy, but I’ve been very curious about the game! I’m glad to get the full story 💜
Re-watched it, keep it up brother, love your work. A fellow horror gamer
You're one of the content creators I just put on. Like, I pay attention the first time... Then I just keep your voice around. You get watch time, I don't feel as alone. Everybody gets something.
felt
I have a couple creators I do this with, Harry's voice and even tone make for easy listening and I figure he gets a lot of additional views
Rewatching this incredible video since youtube can't seem to get it together. Glad to see it's back up!
The demonology breakdown is pretty cool but creepy
Love that you had to re upload this and still got almost 1 mil in views
I find the mimic kind of cute. He just looks like a little guy to me. But then again I have a crush on Pinhead, so I'm probably not the best one to ask about these sorts of things
sorry for what happened with the last upload... love this video! Thank you very much for putting in all this work
Ah yes, grandma doesn't want her working at THAT mortuary. She's heard things about THAT mortuary.
Only in an indie game.
I don't get what u saying my friend? Can u explain?
@@gabrielneves6602he thinks it’s an indie dev thing to make only one spot have a bad history when every single place on the planet has one location that has an incredibly fucked up history
I kid you not, only an hour ago I was just thinking to myself “I should rewatch this video”.
I’ll rewatch it for you you deserve credit for how much thought you put into these explained videos
idk why i assumed that raymond fell in love with one of the women, then she died and he tried resurrecting her but ended up calling out a demon instead as his origin story.
I honestly fall asleep to your videos, on a continuous loop so much so the moment UA-cam stops playing a video I wake up to restart
A friend of mine played and streamed it on discord. Eventually we got into the habit of just randomly saying "Rebecca" in that weird upbeat voice. We have never seen him so genuinely pissed at anyone xD The combination of our persistence and the game just doing the same "Rebecca" every now and then broke him for a while
Have to rewatch because this such a good game and you explain the story in a way anyone can understand even if they don't know much about the game.
Thank you mate for explaining the story! Looking forward to if you could make an updated version with the new ending.
Doom taught me that a silent man with a gun is all it takes to stop pure evil.
If Doomguy was here this game would have been 10 minutes long
@@martinhristov3670 with 9 minutes grace period. For the demon, that is
The actors really killed it for this game (pun intended)
When this game became more popular, I was searching for your reaction and explanation, thank you.
Funny when the robots are more worried than the people controlling them.
I got to meet the writer and developer of this game at PAX East. Super nice guy! the whole Dread X team is amazing!
I’ve never thought of how much sense it makes for a mortuary to be haunted
It’s crazy how deep into demonology the devs learned for the game I love when games have things they’re based on that are well researched
What a great video! I watched a friend play through the first part if this game and just couldn’t get into it. I don’t know if I’m desensitized or what, but I just didn’t find it scary and thought the gameplay was boring. But the way you explained the story sent chills down my spine! 😨
I'm still a little confused by how Raymond was sacrificing people, but everything else was explained amazingly
He was using them to work the night shift and the demon would end up possessing them instead of him. He’d use them as sacrifices
@@GamingHarryYT ahh I see. Okay! Thank you
@@GamingHarryYT why cant he just... not work the night shifts?
Interesting. CoryxKenshin was just complaining about UA-cam hitting his video when others weren't getting hit. Now UA-cam seems to be hitting everyone
The Mortuary Assistant is in the top 3 scariest games I've ever played. I'd put it right after P.T and Alien Isolation in VR.
When that guy showed up on the bricked in hallway ~ 10:10 he was so gruesome I literally had to look away else he’ll be showing up in my dreams tonight💀
I already rewatched this video multiple times before the reupload, I'm already going to rewatch this.
Seems to me the missing piece Mr.Delver is looking for is closure, seeing as the only ending where you never become possessed or see the mortuary again is the one where Rebecca finds closure.
I’m happy you reuploaded since these videos of you talking help me sleep at night
I normaly don't get scared by horror games if I'm not playing them, but dang, this game is spooky
This game is so simple yet one of the scariest games I’ve seen in awhile. Big shout out to the creators
It is one man project
Wow the imagery in this game is so creepy! I watch a lot of horror stuff and this one got to me. Very impressive, and excellent video. Love your stuff!
I might have missed it, but did you mention that in the demo, you play as Valerie? I thought it was quite neat : D
Love this game!
Sorry you had to repost man
Crazy situation really
UA-cam isn't fair at all and they have shitty communication with the very people who have made the company what it is
@@CosmoQueen2900 Can we start a Change petition to stop the censoring?
So Raymond is partially possessed and need someone to do this process in order to not fully be possessed? That part did confuse me a bit.
Yada yada.
UA-cam is run by fking snowflakes that want to pretend that nothing is wrong.
Real life ain't all sunshine and rainbows
10:05
Turns around and sees the stuff of nightmares, Deadpool
I saw your community post about your trouble with youtube so watching this again. That and I really love how you explain the story.
For you my dude would re-watch a million times.
Rewatching this for the second or third time since you had to re-upload it! Your videos are always ridiculously interesting so I’ve enjoyed it every time!
Thank you for reuploading this. I’m happy to watch it
Well then, the sequel might be called The Rookie whereby a young cop gets assigned to investigate the curious case of missing mortuary assistants in the local county.
Love your narration and editing!
Harry out here doin the lord's work. Thank you, my dude.
This game was very well done. I absolutely enjoyed watching it (I couldn't play it on my own). And your video covers it very well.
Great video! Thank you for all the effort it took to make this! I appreciate the structure of the video and the concise explanation of the story!
There’s actually seven endings in this game but amazing video keep it up
imagine living in a dystopian future where you can't say suicide
Markiplier managed to get the closure ending without giving the 2 sobriety milestone coins to the alternate version of Rebecca and only giving the cross to her father. What's up with that? Was it because the scares were randomized and the devs wanted the player to have the option either way?
It’s because he put it on the dad! You can get the ending by putting the necklace on the dad or by putting the coins in Rebecca’s hands
Should be thanking you for reuploading such a banger. Love ya, Haz
The white demon with the black eyes is the absolute WORST!!! THE WOOOOORST!!!! I have to look away every time it creeps up!!!!!
Even this scared me a but, really want to play the game myself but I know I can’t cuz it scares me too much. I’m sticking to watching others play it instead 😭💀
