The hardest thing to believe in this game is not the demons, the metaphysical, or the weird storybook. It's actually the fact that Luca received a serial killer's camera as a birthday gift... Wtf.
Seriously, can anyone explain that part of the story? It seems totally nonsensical to me, so either I’m missing something or the writers of the story didn’t put much thought into it.
I think there’s a sort of fan theory that the camera belonged to his Grandfather (the guy in the photo) beforehand so it ended up back in the family? Again, doesn’t really make much sense.. It says at some point that her stuff was auctioned off so maybe it was purchased for him without knowing the context?
It’s actually explained in the game. The Madison’s possessions were being given to auction many years after the murders and Luca’s parents brought it without knowing it was from a serial killer.
Considering Madison's camera was a prized possession of Luca's grandfather, I'm surprised there was no evidence of Madison tormenting him. Instead we get a second demon, why? Did I miss some interaction between Blue Knees, his story and Madison? They don't seem to come into conflict nor support each other. I'm sure there's a reason and I'm just dumb, but that's the main thing that confuses me. Lol
There's no clear connection established beyond coincidence--it's the story's big weakness for me. Maybe Albert secretly sought to use Madison's ritual to contact his wife; that's the only way I can think the two are connected in a more cohesive way.
Antagonist variety. I said in another reply to a comment that I watched some let’s plays and players seemed to be getting a bit tired of Madison, so Hans and Blue Knees were introduced to keep the player engaged. Then they tried to shoehorn Blue Knees into the plot. People are coming up with theories that Madison wanted to use Blue Knees’ body in the exchange ritual, and that Albert summoned Madison through the locket. But I don’t think that’s the case at all.
I would say there were 2 main and 1 mini plot lines. Madison and luca, blue knees, and the nazi in the church.Don’t know how they’re connected, maybe they’re not but I enjoyed them all, got conjuring vibes from Madison, Insidious vibes from Blue knees and the nazi was just quick jumpscare fun.
in the ritual book one of the pages indicated 2 bodies, a guest and a host, I couldn't piece together where the two bodies comes in if in the end luca dies, I'd think the host would be madison, guest - blue knees? or it's left open ended for future dlc/expansions 🧐can't wait to see how it unfolds
Pop a gravol. Chomatic abrasion, head bob, motion blur, depth of field are all culprits of creating motion sickness. I get it. Playing observer right now and its a terrible game for it.
I appreciate you call it "Story Explained" instead of "Ending Explained". Some of these channels summarizing stories need to know what they're advertising. Great job on always providing fantastic SE content!
I think that madison was bought to the house via the silver locket. Many methologies suggest that supernatural beings such as vampires and demons need an invitation to enter houses, the silver locket could be such an invitation. I think this idea is supported as it links to how blue knees was invited when the family bought its book home. The need for ashes was already fulfilled as the urn of luca's grandma was present in the ritual (the thing you replace the camera with).
oh so you are saying the ritual did work but he contacted the wrong person damn thats why he hid the locket under security bc he knew he messed up and didnt want that anyone makes the same mistake
The best way to scare a human is to leave things unexplained and disconnected. Our minds being to fill in what is missing. It keeps us thinking about the story long after its finished, trying to find answers that aren't there. Like all of us coming here.
I feel like the end is just the body exchange ritual. Same thing happened to Madison. In the end Luca wakes after hanged himself, which might be the demon possessing him the same way he did to Madison. Madison looks disfigurated same as Luca throughout the game when Luca starts claiming his body is numb and burning
Well, I disagree. In this game, it works for me, because the demon is messing with Luca's mind. In some other games it's annoying, that first you're not even sure, what character you play and after the ending nothing really ends up. Then I'm just disappointed by the bad story telling.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from horror games it’s this; never go through the randomly appearing red door. Especially not one in the basement! This is the kind of game where it seems like there’s an interesting story there, and I want to know more but for some reason I just can’t get through watching a let’s play of it. An explained video is the ideal solution and if it’s Lore and Order l I know it’s going to be good!
The game has an interesting plot and lore. However there's a clear disconnect between Madison and Blue Knees. It's like the devs just couldn't decide what story to tell. This family just by luck got two different demons, from two different cursed objects. What are the odds?
i came here to ask this question.. i've been trying to understand the relevance of BK as it relates to the overarching story.... not even sure where grandma fits in tbh. im confused lol
Madison and Blue knees are the same entity, thought this was obvious. Blue Knees originally possessed Madison to carry out the seven rituals, and since he wanted to have a human body, Luca ended up being that. It is weird that Madison and BK seem to appear as two different entities which I agree doesn't make sense, but from what I can see, BK possessed Madison, then went into Luca's body. Maybe Madison and BK appearing as two different things is just a way for the player to understand the lore better?
My theory is the demon isn't Hale or even Blue Knees. It's just a nameless/faceless evil spirit. The demon possesses Blue Knees (likely through a cursed object). Blue Knees resists doing the ritual but leaves behind a cursed thing which goes on to curse person after person until Hale. Hale acquires a cursed object and becomes possessed. She is weak and attempts the ritual on the demon's behalf. She only gets halfway through before dying. She leaves behind a couple of cursed objects. During the Hale Estate Sale, Elizabeth buys cursed book for Johnny and cursed camera for Albert. For some reason the cursed camera curses Elizabeth instead of Albert. Johnny is haunted but resists the ritual. Elizabeth resists the ritual and dies. Cursed camera is gifted to Luca as an heirloom. Luca becomes cursed. Luca is weak and does the ritual. Demon takes over Luca's body. The gasp where Luca comes back to "life" is the demon taking its first breath in the mortal plane. Fun fact: The woman and her Nazi husband were Madison's parents. They were likely cursed by the demon. She was only 7 when her mom killed her dad, and doesn't remember his face. She only remembers him as the "gas chamber man mommy stabbed", which is why he manifests with a gas mask and knife in his neck.
Nancy and Nazi cannot be Madison's parents because she killed mother and father. father can't be dead already. I like the rest of it though. I agree that Madison was also just some possessed human. it's like the priest said, demons aren't alive.
Idk about that fun fact. In the elevator scene the narrator said that she killed her parents and they both had the name hale while Hans and his wife didn't. Also Hans died due to his wife.
The thing that made me confused is how Blue Knees is introduced to this game. We know that Madison has a connection to Luca because he has her camera which I'm assuming the camera is a conduit to use Luca to "finish the job" which she wasn't able to complete the sacrifice so she used Luca to essentially do her dirty work to transfer her soul and possess him and be immortal. and maybe Blue Knees might be a Demon of some sort because Luca's grandfather even admitted that Blue Knees was real. And he regrets not believing his wife then. Madison might be sacrificing her victims for her witchcraft and supposedly conjured up 'Blue Knees' the demon while she went of a killing rampage to take down her victims and the book was just used as an innocent children's book to make it seem like some paranormal witchcraft shit lol Madison wasn't able to finish her sacrifice because the officer shot her. And that's where Luca comes in to the picture? Because he was in possession of her item which made him repeat what she started and end the sacrificial body transfer so she could continue more killings for Blue Knees the Demon? Was wondering what ever happened to his father though? Had hoped the story could have shared more on what happened to his fate. Overall I thought it was a brilliant game. The visuals and sound effects were top notch! Scared the bejesus out of me for sure!
Yeah I think that Blue Knees was in there for variety. Same as Hans Goring. In some let’s plays I did notice that up until the cathedral, people were getting a bit bored of Madison. So introducing Hans and Blue Knees kept players engaged.
I agree with this. Maybe Blue Knees haunted Madison first which in term made her find victims for Blue Knees so Madison didn’t actually kill her victims
I really thought there should be alternative endings in a game like this. But I guess the devs had to make sure the story is linear up to this point in preparation for next installments. Hope more of Blue Knees can be deciphered in the next one.
Technically 3 antagonists, if you count Hans? And they all kind of had the same scare mechanics, glitching in and out of view, which effective but admittedly there are other ways to be scary. The disconnected stories and characters was kind of the one thing that bothered me about the game. I wish they had picked one antagonist to persist the player within the house (Blue Knees stole the show based off all the thumbnails tbh). But I was thinking and hear me out: what if there was a kind of connection between the three? Hans committed a man-made evil, no paranormal intervention needed. Madison was motivated by witchcraft, for whatever purpose, and that essentially turned her into a serial killer, therefore a supernatural man-made evil if you will. But then there's Blue Knees, a purely paranormal phenomenon. He isn't connected to someone living or dead, like Madison, Luca, or anyone, and unlike Madison he's not possessing anyone (maybe the book tho). It seems he only shows up if a person is unfortunate to read his story through. I've no idea if this theme was anyone's intention on the development team, but that's the only kind of thread I can discern between the three important events where something tries to un-alive you. Regardless, fantastic game and I hope they make more like it.
I think it's only 1 antagonist - the demon. And I think that demon posessed madison and isn't actually her. It just passed onto you through the camera which she had close to her while dying. The demon might have died with her if it didn't latch itself onto the camera. Hans doesn't appear until somebody tells you a story about him with a vague explanation from which you could imagine what he might look like. Same with blue knees - it doesn't appear until you read a book about it which describes its appearance, even though you find multiple clues about it's existance before that. So I believe the demon just takes forms of beings from your imagination just to mindfuck you.
@@lolschrauber that's not a bad idea. I mean let's think about it for a sec. What kind of demon has the name Blue Knees?! And what kind of ridiculous backstory is that for a hell spawn? As far as origin stories go, it's kind of pathetic. This would also fit with the classic idea that a demon's weakness lies within its name. So maybe Blue Knees was just a pseudonym? A facade. Whether or not Blue Knees was the same antagonist as Madison is debatable. After all, didn't the book come into Johnny's hands while she was still alive? Still, she could have been possessed by Hans.
The fact the main antagonist's name is "Madison" is actually hilarious when you know the historical context of that name. Obviously, it is a last name, notably of President James Madison. But the name being used as a first name was unheard of until the 1984 movie "Splash" debuted, wherein a mermaid chooses her name by seeing the sign for Madison Avenue in NYC. It was this movie that began the popularization of the name "Madison" as a first name for girls. So either this game's titular "Madison" had parents well ahead of their time, OR, she saw Splash, became a huge fan, and started calling herself Madison to be more like the pretty blonde mermaid. It was the latter, in my head canon. Evil to the core, but still a huge mermaid fan.
Fun fact the physical copies of Madison when they first came out came with a bonus comic feature of Blue Knees. It's eerie and kinda sad to read but does creep you out enough to become curious
I've been waiting for you to cover MADiSON since I watched a let's play on it the day it came out, so glad this episode of lore and order dropped today!
i commen you for playing all kinds of horror games bro. since i dont have the guts or heart to play them i watch your videos regularly keep up the good work man. YOU RE AWESOME
Another great video as always! If you take recommendations, I cannot recommend the series “The Room” enough. They’re puzzle games with a dark atmosphere and lore to explore. Thought it’d be perfect for you
They're all super fun games, but pretty thin on lore I feel, like a few notes on each game and not much environmental storytelling. Would love to be proven wrong and seen someone squeeze a big story out of them!
i have the feeling that the “Blue Knees” demon was actually the original demon that possessed Madison…therefore it wasn’t an accident that Luca’s grandmother to receive the book and for Luca to receive the camera…i have the feeling that the original victim should have been Luca’s father but probably because his grandmother is sort of a clairvoyant, so is his father, they immediately saw what Blue Knees really was…the book is intended (no matter how creepy) to be a children’s book meant to lower the defenses or reservations of a child however, Luca’s father may have been either protected by the grandmother (resulting in her losing her eyes)…Luca’s father was saved but unfortunately, the demons came back to haunt them because of the camera (or maybe due to Grandpa’s spells to speak to the dead)…I’m it was all planned by the demon and he was able to successfully complete the ritual through Luca…
Love this game, literally gave me anxiety and i was on edge the whole time. Lots of subtle scares and sounds and things that happen all throughout to keep you constantly wondering what’s next. They did a great job with it.
This is the short version of what I originally had lol. Seeing as this game is influenced by religion. I think whatever possessed Madison is directly related to “Blue Knees”, and ultimately all started at the St. Jupiter's Cathedral. 13 people had died while the church was being constructed. Which in biblical terms. The number 13 is the sign of a devil and evil. Seeing as the church could be looked at as a beacon of evil? I’d say that it’s possible demons had latched on to certain people/things associated with the church’s community. I believe that “Blue Knees” was a demon attached to the book. That had started to possess Elizabeth in order to start its body exchange ritual. By stealing her ring as a sentimental offering. After she passed.. Albert tried reaching out to her in the afterlife which may have reawaken the demon. Which is why the book kept returning. Assuming he owned the camera originally. He also got rid of that based off what he saw in the photos, or the lack there of. If he gave it to the priest? The priest could have given it to Madison. Which then possessed her to carry on with the ritual. May be important to know, but Madison was 43 when this went down. 4+3=7. 7 bodies to sacrifice. Anyways. The camera sat for 30 years until someone new acquired it. Which may have been the priest… Luca received it as a “gift” for his 16th birthday. 1+6=7. Again 7 bodies to sacrifice. Throughout the tapes the priest is incredibly knowledgeable about this particular thing and urges one to “obey” the demons demands. Which will only encourage the possession to take place. As Luca does this? He recovers the rest of what the ritual needs so that the demon can finally take control of a human vessel. I think it’s possible that demons had possessed the priests of the church in order to bring hell on earth. I mean they held Madison’s wake at their church like she was a big influence there. Honestly though.. Who the hell knows. For all we know Elizabeth may have been related to Madison. Maybe we’ll know more with the DLC.
Oh, I had missed some stuff and your video helped me clarify some lose ends. Nice. While listening I came up with a theory that might explain some things. See, it doesn't make sense that Madison could have had anything to do with Blue Knees, or Luca's house, because of the time gaps, right? BUT... Luca travels between three different times using the camera. So... maybe the story isn't in linear time. Maybe Madison could do the same thing. Maybe she targeted Luca because she knew, through her travel or visions, that he was susceptible. That the house was already contaminated with a demonic entity. Maybe she even created Blue Knees (tulpa style) to make sure fear and evil took root in the house. Maybe Nancy offed Hans in that house too (idk, seems weird that Hans is in a whole segment of the game if he's not connected beyond his wife confessing in the church), and the place has been polluted by violence and horrors for a long time. So Madison knew that Luca, being sensitive to spirits like his grandma and dad, would grow up in that nasty house influenced by its evil. And made sure somehow that he received her camera. She just had to wait. She had the perfect victim in the perfect environment. Madison practiced witchcraft. Witches can be very resourceful. I know it's not a perfect theory but works for me.
So Luca's grandfather was like, "well, I just lost everything after I bought this camera, better gift it to my loving grandson. Happy birthday, Luca!!"
You forgot about Luca's grandmother being possesed by Blue knees beforehand, hence why Blue knees was there the demon alredy had connection to his family his grandmother wasn't cured. As for Hans actively trying to kill Luca is just rather that Hans was an German working in gas chamber hence the demon or Madison uses him to make Luca complete the ritual faster.
Just about to watch it but I already know it's going to be a great video! Just like all of the others, thank you for making these videos as they make my days better Harry
The Blue Knees thing really feels like a complete waste of time. Like they had two different, unrelated ideas, and decided to crowbar one into a game about the other since the original Madison game was going to be just a tad too short.
I've come to believe that you need more subscribers cause this is perfect! Also, it confused me on why they had to add Hans. I understand that they had to have Antagonist Variety but Hans doesn't seem to have any relation to Madison, Blue Knees, and etc. At first I believed that Hans' wife was related to Madison or something but idek anymore. I am not sure if it's random or I am missing something.
Blue Knees was a demon who lived in that house from “a long long time ago.” He lost his eyes and they were very precious to him. He wanted to transmute to a body so he could see again, so he possessed the witch Madison in order to start the ritual. She was killed by a cop after 4 victims. As a witch, Madison’s ghost was then able to possess Luca through the conduit camera she used as she was dismembering her victims. This was so she could finish the ritual for Blue Knees to transmute to a human body. A huge theme, was everyone was in pursuit of something precious they lost. Blue Knees lost his eyes, Elizabeth her jewelry, Johnny his now dead wife who he tried to contact, Luca his sanity.
MADiSON is my all time favorite horror game me and my dad stayed up till 4 am beating Madison and to me and my dad if you ever play the blue knees son* or the theme in the trailer we will 100% automatically know where it is from and we might even start singing along lol
I don’t think the the “I” in MADiSON is meant to shorten to MAD SON. Seems more likely that the 7 letters in the name are capitalized except for 1 meaning the need for 1 final sacrifice. Who knows tho
I always find it weird that you have to warn about spoilers in a video named "story explained"... Are there really dumb enough ppl to whine about you spoiled the game by "making them watch" video explaining thw game? Like... wtf?!? Why do we protect ppl like this?!!
@@GamingHarryYT I trust you i do, just cannot get my head around it... "future"... Anyway thx for the vid, another horror game i did not have to suffer thru to know the story :-) - in RL there's almost nothing i get scared out of, but playing horror game transforms me into whiny & scared little chickens*** :-) ... I get so immersed into the char it's too hard for me :-) (movies do nothing to me). So thx for the story i wouldn't know othervise :-) edit: also thx ♥️ 👍
5 years in the making, sure, but I was really disappointed with the story because there was really no twist or atleast I found it predictable - the last min of the us waking up was okay but it didn’t excite me. Great run down on the lore as always!
How clever from developers add very house common noises randomly during the gameplay. It makes you think if the sound comes from the game or from your own house/room
The game basically is about telling a story instead of resolving a mystery. I hope they make the sequel of Luca's dads as the playable characters and being hunted by madison as he try to put an end to this. The last photo taken is surely madison, the burnt hint is a red flag
Another fantastic story explained!! Would have loved to have seen your gameplay of this! It looks really cool though! Anything that is a nod to Silent Hill is a winner in my book :)
And the concept about the burned photo could just be that the photos of those possessed comes out burnt. Because it was the only account when Luca’s photo was taken. And it could suggest that he was completely possessed by the time. This game can be interpreted and understood in so many different levels. It is a phenomenal work of art to say the least.
I love the blue knees story and the story telling with the books ! But i don't find the game really scary, the design of blue knees in the book is better that the "real" one (in my opinion) !
6:30 Fun fact: there's a statue of the virgin Mary that is said to cry tears of blood when something bad is about to happen. Idk if it's a coincidence or not, just a fact this part reminded me of
Did the parents think giving their son the camera of a SERIAL KILLER was a good birthday present!? Why couldn't they have bought a new one!? Luca didn't deserve this
The Maxwell family came into possession of the book (and probably the camera as well) from a "garage sale" (Elizabeth's diary). In the newspaper scraps (wall next to Ritual Room) it mentions the Hale family having an "estate sale". I'm assuming someone bought the camera in the estate sale, and later sold it in a garage sale. Elizabeth would've had no idea they previously belonged to a serial killer.
nothing related but u have a very nice voice ☺just finished the game and i was a bit confused how both demons connect to each other. Also u said that madison used the camera to possess Luca but thats not true bc he gets it after he has killed his sister and his mother right the game starts with his dad yelling at him bc he killed his family and saying the priest was right and then he finds the camera in his grandpas house. i think when the grandpa tried to contact his wife he ended up bringing madison spirit back that then possessed Luca? obviously theres some type of connection between his grandpa and madison.. And then theres the second demon, blue knees which went for the grandma and Luca's dad after they bought the book home. So gets a bit confusing why Luca ended up having both demons after him at the same time but anyways i loved it gotta be one of my fav games of the year and i hope they come with a second game! very nicely made game
With Madison’s skull included, 7 mutilations had already been completed. 4 victims of Madison, 2 of Luca and Madison herself. Also there are 2 of emotionally attacked things; Madison’s camera and Granny’s ring. I’m not sure if there could be alternate endings if they are switched. And also there is one more such thing in the game; that is, Grandpa’s clocks. He was very much attached with them.
The more I think about it, the more the disconnect between Madison, Blue Knees, and Hans is, and quite frankly, it bothers me. So here's a theory. Madison was also possessed. I could be wrong but I think the whole idea of the ritual was as an exorcism. If the idea was to "swap bodies", maybe the idea was to trap the demon? This would at least give plausible cause to put Hans in here, though it's still a stretch. As for Blue Knees, it's hard to say. Honestly it seemed like the game had been building up to him, and that was the basis for this theory originally (Madison was a previous victim, which doesn't make much sense now). At the very least, it seems as though the influence of Blue Knees was still very real, if kept locked away. The book was obviously his conduit as Luca doesn't encounter him until after he finds it. There is something important to note though. The combination to the ashes could not be discovered without confronting Blue Knees. So my theory is this. Between the book in the ritual, Luca was possessed by 2 demons. One of whome (Blue Knees) was still in possession of Elizabeth's body (ashes). So the only way to get those ashes would be to exorcise them and banish the demon back to hell. As for the ending, one idea is that Luca, perhaps emboldened by his fight against Blue Knees, understands how he can stop Madison from achieving her goal. By using the body of a possessed individual (Luca himself) he found a loophole in the ritual. Madison would be transferred from her skull to Luca, who in that instance, would be dying. This trapping her. One other interesting element here is the camera itself. There is no real basis for this, but hear me out. Cameras are supposed to capture souls right? But IIRC, the priest said demons are in no way living entities. Perhaps this could be interpreted as demons being tainted anti-souls. It might explain why demons like Madison can't be caught on camera, but instead burn the picture. But what if you were to take that demon, put it in a living body that's between life and death, then take the picture? One idea is that Madison was trapped in that last picture, which then burnt. Basically destroying any vessel she would have. In doing so, perhaps Luca was able to outplay his demon. As for whether or not he survives, your guess is as good as mine. One last note here. The cathedral. While there is no hard evidence, it's possible this place was a junction point for all 3 demons through this story. Even the dates seem to match. 51, the death of hans. 87, the death of Madison, 2022, the death of Luca(?). Elizabeth may have also had a sermon there as well. This may have also been where the priest was working. If following my logic, what if the cathedral was (in a twist) ground zero for demonic possession? Madison was a part of that community right? Maybe Hans latched onto her? Regardless of any and all of this, I'm tired and it's 12:30 AM and I should probably sleep.
could the blue knees demon and his book be a reference to the people killed in gas chambers. they described him being trapped and unable to play with the other kids, he loses his eyes e.c.t. Maybe that's how Hans is connected too as he was responsible. It doesn't rly make sense but somehow??? idk
Well I think that Blue Knees was the OG demon who initially possessed Madison, to kill 7 people and complete the ritual to get control of her body. Some logical arguments 1) Why would Madison herself want to possess someone else's body while she was still alive and had her own life to achieve whatever goals or finish whatever unfinfished matters she wanted to. 2) Due to the ritual partially completed by Madison, blue knees was kinda attached to Madison's soul and had to wait till her camera, gets an owner, which is Luca in this case. Basically, Blue Knees wanted to possess Madison's body, but as he could only kill 4 people while possessing her, he waited untill Luca gets the camera and would make use of Madison's soul to haunt Luca and make him complete the rest of the ritual by killing the remaining three people which are his mom, sister and lastly his dad who was later replaced by Luca. 3) As for why Blue Knees did not possess the grandma, I guess he did not wanted to take the risk again. He would have had to possess her and again kill 7 people, performing the ritual all over again, and there was a high chance of the grandma getting caught just like Madison. So he waited, while remaining attached to the camera along with Madison's soul to finally use the new owner to complete the leftover ritual which Madison wasn't able to complete. 4) There are two conduits here that allows blue knees to interact with the world of living, the book and the camera. The story book was not associated with Madison's ritual, so possessing the grandma would have caused blue knees to completely perform the ritual newly from the start. Then comes the next conduit, the camera, it was already associated with Madison's ritual, her soul was bound to it and therefore, made it possible for the ritual to be continued through the camera. Completing an incomplete ritual was a much favourable choice for blue knees, which avoided restarting the ritual from scratch, and also the host from being caught as a result of suspicion. Plus, 1987 was relatively modern era, so forensic and investigation techniques were developed enough to find that the grandma was the killer even before 7 sacrifices were made, given that Blue Knees possessed the grandma and restarted the ritual from scratch. 5) As for why the grandpa was not possessed, here is a possible explanation, He lost his wife due to the ongoing hauntings Blue knees was doing to her, because why not. It is clearly mentioned in the game that these entities feed off of humans and entertain themselves with our fear so it was just natural to it. There was no merit in possessing the grandpa through the camera as the grandpa was now aware of the demon's existence. Plus only John and himself were left which would only make up for 2 scarifices considering the grandpa killed himself after sacrificing his son in case he got possessed. Again, blue knees could not risk killing anyone from outside and get his host caught. So he waited till the family expanded, and chose Luca, because why not? Teens and youngsters are more susceptible to fear and trauma compared to mature adults. Luca was the perfect chess piece. I believe Chanel was too young and would have passed out from the trauma instead of solving the riddles and completing the puzzles in that house. As the only person who knew about its existence, the grandpa, had passed away and John not taking the letter left by his father seriously, made things even easier for blue knees. There was no chance of anyone getting suspicious (like who with a rational and logical mind even consider supernatural stuff to be the cause of something in the first place untill they witness it themselves first hand) so that they call any exorcist or an expert making Luca the best host and also providing the perfect timing to make use of him. Well, that is what I think. One hell of a crafty demon I must say! What we can learn from this is that always plan your actions. Take your time like Blue knees planning things and you will be successful. Just, dont go using this lesson for accomplishing bad things, i would not suggest that :).
The impression I'm given is that Luca hanged himself so that, while the ritual would be completed and allow Madison full possession of his body, she would immediately die upon doing so since he was still being hanged.
1. Madison corrupted by demon/satan, perform ritual for him to enter real world 2. Madison failed and was in half way, dead and soul trapped in camera, possess anyone who use it 3. Luca's father bought the camera as a gift to Luca, Luca got possessed and killed mom/sis. 4. Father locked Luca, Madison continue manipulating Luca to complete her unfinished ritual 5. Grandfather was once friend/play with Blue knees when was a kid, grandmother dead might be due to Madison's job, Blue knees story book was just coincidence and became scapegoat for grandmother's tragic 6. Blue knees appearing in later part and main objective is to interrupt Madison's ritual, to protect grandfather from behead 7. The drawing change to son's hanging, which Luca at the end hang himself to protect his father. (Blue knees succeed) 8. At the end last captured photo dropped on floor with blackened, maybe there is part 2 for the story?
@15:40 lmao the spools of the tape cassette in the hand is spinning as the recording plays, despite you know being held in his hand outside of the cassette player. 😂 How the devs missed that is beyond me. They probably originally intended for the cassette player to be a portable hand-held one but decided to do they traditional player route and forgot to remove the spinning animation from the tape.
I think the whole Blue Knees stuff was unneeded since we had Madison, and i had a hard time taking the game seriously when the antagonist was like a monster from a children's campfire story. It's kind of cheesy with his name, song, and fairy tale book. It also made it kind of confusing when they introduced more monsters who you were facing at a given time.
There's something wrong with a game if you need to watch a "Story explained"/lore video to understand what happened. I still have zero clue regarding: 1)Why Luca was possessed. 2)Why Madison is possessing Luca. 3)Why Madison needed to complete the ritual/reason for her serial killings. It doesn't make sense in my head that Blue Knees was behind Madison's madness. 4)Hans Göring in general. 5)Luca's grandma's sickness. I thought she was haunted by Madison, but I guess it makes sense that it's Blue Knees. Except her pupils "disappeared", her eyes weren't forcefully removed which is what I understood Blue Knees' motive to be - to steal eyes. I think the story could've been more haunting if the motivation behind it all had been humanity being evil, but obviously that removes the jumpscares from the game entirely. Lean into the MAD SON part of the title.
Still have so many questions. Where did blue knees come from. What's the connection to the 1951 setting at the church? Just played the game in VR, was considering a second playthru to sort out the plot. still a good video tho, thank you.
@@lysfranc8782 Correct!
Nope. The most unbelievable thing is that he never runs out of film.
That Blue Knees song always gives me chills and reminds me of the first time I ever heard Tiny Tim's Tiptoe Through the Tulips.
it was definitely inspired by that. it sounds way too similar
I just found the whole Blue Knees thing funny, including the song. It was just so silly.
So I'm not the only who thought about the Blue Knees song sounding like a Tiny Tim song.
Ye every time I hear it I start singing tiptoe
omg i thought the same thing when i first heard this song
The story isn't over. Studio said they're not finished. A dlc or another installment will probably be out down the road.
in the ritual book one of the pages indicated 2 bodies, a guest and a host, I couldn't piece together where the two bodies comes in if in the end luca dies, I'd think the host would be madison, guest - blue knees? or it's left open ended for future dlc/expansions 🧐can't wait to see how it unfolds
Devs clearly influenced by Visage, the house itself even has a similar layout and the puzzles are so alike. Awesome game (both of them)
Try Fobia St Difna Hotel, another very great game recently released that is well worth a play
I thought this was Visage when I first saw it lol 😆
But story is better than visage
Specially Lucia part was flop of visage
I prefer this game over visage
Interesting game but I think I couldn't ve physically able to play it. The amount of screenshake makes me really nauseated
I believe there was a setting to adjust that?
Just curious for movies that are very cinematic does this happen too or is it because the video game is more surreal and you’re actually playing it?
Pop a gravol. Chomatic abrasion, head bob, motion blur, depth of field are all culprits of creating motion sickness. I get it. Playing observer right now and its a terrible game for it.
Can turn off the head bobbing, and swaying. Also you can reduce the shaking camera as well.
Yea that’s why buddy
I love the 6:03 when the player enters the room, the statues' faces are crying blood and then it disappears when the player comes closer
That's called a bug, bro
@@latinojackson9694 I think it was an intentional jumpscare thing to make you think "did I really just see that?"
OH MY Madison being invited by the locket is such a good theory
@@DarkwaveMistress yea I think the locket is very important because if it isn't it is quiet a random plot point tgta dosent lead to anything
What is that? Walter White's pantheon of gods?
oh so you are saying the ritual did work but he contacted the wrong person damn thats why he hid the locket under security bc he knew he messed up and didnt want that anyone makes the same mistake
@@Elias-qj7dq yup!
I agree dude, the only reason I came here. FR
I heard about this game for the first time here on this video, for what I understood Blue Knees could've been the demon that was tormenting Madison.
I think it was Luca’s grandfather the one that designed the plan and it is not Madison the demon who appears at the end, it’s her grandmother.
i came here to ask this question.. i've been trying to understand the relevance of BK as it relates to the overarching story.... not even sure where grandma fits in tbh. im confused lol
also in the beginning Luca is running and hiding from his dad...was it ever revealed if that is actually his dad or not?
She only remembers him as the "gas chamber man mommy stabbed", which is why he manifests with a gas mask and knife in his neck.
this explanation makes the most sense imo!!! thank you
Nancy and Nazi cannot be Madison's parents because she killed mother and father. father can't be dead already.
@@culturedman892They were nazis pursued for war crimes. They had to change their names. Just like in "Apt Pupil".
7 yo madison got adopted
from what the developers said, the game has one more alternative ending that the players have not discovered. Maybe it will explain more
That’s not true
FINALLY SOMEONE THAT EXPLAINS THE PLOTS NOT RETALE THE PLOT
They should straight up make a movie outta this game.
So I believe the demon just takes forms of beings from your imagination just to mindfuck you.
lolschrauber that’s another good theory.
I love this, and I choose to believe the same.
this is amazing lmao. gotta love when storytellers don't do historical research
Fun fact the physical copies of Madison when they first came out came with a bonus comic feature of Blue Knees. It's eerie and kinda sad to read but does creep you out enough to become curious

I remember the blue knees song leaving me so terrified I slept with the lights on for 2 nights
Honestly this makes some sense. Great theory
@@natnat8393 thanks! I know it doesn't explain everything but I do hate lose ends like the Hans storyline lol

Welcome back Harry, we’ve missed you :) by the way, Blue Knees’ song is absolutely horrific
I felt that way too, the blue knees while mentioned before is introduced way too late game, it doesnt really make much sense

Finally just a week ago im looking for the story explains and here you are. Great job as always bro.
Concise and entertaining! Thank you for this well written explanation.
Hey Harry!
You should make a Lore video about "The Beast Inside" that game is probably my favorite indie horror game in the recent years.

I don’t think the the “I” in MADiSON is meant to shorten to MAD SON. Seems more likely that the 7 letters in the name are capitalized except for 1 meaning the need for 1 final sacrifice. Who knows tho

😭 blue knees had me dying of laughter bouncing around like that 💀
Another fantastic story explained!!

That camera has some power to it, every time a photo is snapped, the whole house shakes.

Too spooky for me. I play games like this vicariously through my fav YT'ers.
Great video! I love your quality man.
@@CoryTheSimmons ah, oh I see. That makes more sense then them knowingly buying it. Damn this family had such poor luck
nothing related but u have a very nice voice ☺just finished the game and i was a bit confused how both demons connect to each other.
Glad your feeling better, welcome back :)
Just started playing this game its by far the best thing I played
Stop lying
@@nothingham4742 its ok that someone liked something you don't ill still enjoy this game have a good day
Madison is a copy of some masterpiece horror games released years ago. You should try them.
First game then?
could the blue knees demon and his book be a reference to the people killed in gas chambers. they described him being trapped and unable to play with the other kids, he loses his eyes e.c.t. Maybe that's how Hans is connected too as he was responsible. It doesn't rly make sense but somehow??? idk
At 16:50 you say that he needs to obtain ashes, but he already has the ashes of his grandmother.
This game is freaky for me because my name is Madison and I've had a OC named Luca for years now XD
this game gave me chills
Well I think that Blue Knees was the OG demon who initially possessed Madison, to kill 7 people and complete the ritual to get control of her body.
Some logical arguments
1) Why would Madison herself want to possess someone else's body while she was still alive and had her own life to achieve whatever goals or finish whatever unfinfished matters she wanted to.
5) As for why the grandpa was not possessed, here is a possible explanation,
He lost his wife due to the ongoing hauntings Blue knees was doing to her, because why not.
I love how you did this without spoiling any of the puzzles
They should definitely make a movie on this game!!!!
The impression I'm given is that Luca hanged himself so that, while the ritual would be completed and allow Madison full possession of his body, she would immediately die upon doing so since he was still being hanged.
Was waiting for this one!
A lot of people confused underdeveloped with cryptic far too often when it comes to media such as this....
1. Madison corrupted by demon/satan, perform ritual for him to enter real world
2. Madison failed and was in half way, dead and soul trapped in camera, possess anyone who use it
3. Luca's father bought the camera as a gift to Luca, Luca got possessed and killed mom/sis.
4. Father locked Luca, Madison continue manipulating Luca to complete her unfinished ritual
5. Grandfather was once friend/play with Blue knees when was a kid, grandmother dead might be due to Madison's job, Blue knees story book was just coincidence and became scapegoat for grandmother's tragic
6. Blue knees appearing in later part and main objective is to interrupt Madison's ritual, to protect grandfather from behead
7. The drawing change to son's hanging, which Luca at the end hang himself to protect his father. (Blue knees succeed)
8. At the end last captured photo dropped on floor with blackened, maybe there is part 2 for the story?
Story isn't over. Developers confirmed.
Happy you are back Harry ✌🏼🔥
Good to have you back
The mad son theory might be interesting since one of the achievement is literally called MAD SON
@15:40 lmao the spools of the tape cassette in the hand is spinning as the recording plays, despite you know being held in his hand outside of the cassette player. 😂
How the devs missed that is beyond me.
I still have zero clue regarding:
1)Why Luca was possessed.
There was a girl in high-school people called blue knees.
Why was she called blue knees? 😳👻😅
I remember her
@@Talia.777 bahahaha I'll never tell!
Still have so many questions. Where did blue knees come from. What's the connection to the 1951 setting at the church?
Just played the game in VR, was considering a second playthru to sort out the plot. still a good video tho, thank you.
