He was too old and with same too ego problems behid project like shatner, he made this for own ambition to be kirk. But lucky it end with success. Pity that still it has behind problems with his ego and paramount ego.

I was that kid, the one who knew half the dialogue from the Original Series off by heart. Stumbled onto an episode of ST: Continues on UA-cam and devoured it, even though I had kinda drifted away from Star Trek in my 20's - it was like my Sunday mornings in front of the TV had come back again. Somehow they really captured the spirit and feel of the show, and that scene with Kirk in the Motion Picture uniform standing on the wrecked bridge of the Enterprise brought a lump to my throat. To see those sets would be something...

Paramount and their stupid "Guidelines" (which everyone seems to ignore now really) pretty much ended Continues. But, at least they got to end the series and make it make a bit of sense. That said the intro to this video got my hopes up.

I was so ready to see a couple of stories after the new uniforms came in, but just before Enterprise was refit! The stories between the end of the 5 yr mission, and the motion picture! Spock leaving, and what that was like, etc... If only fans could find our own Kelvin timeline in the red tape of fan films! I want more "Continues!!"
Vic even had Shatner's body posture down. The celebrity appearances were great. Star Trek Continues was the completion of the 5 year mission (yest I watched TAS too).
I’m a lifelong Trek fan (saw my first episodes at age 4). I’m pretty sure I had never seen this series (STC) till just now. Inspired by this post, I went to watch the first episode. Hot DAMN that was good! Getting the original Apollo actor to reprise his role was genius. And you are so right that Vic embodied Shatner’s TOS Kirk in every inflection and mannerism. I LOLed at the shirtless scene. Classic! 😂 The actress playing Uhura has a lovely singing voice, worthy of Nichelle’s memory. And I nearly did a spit take hearing Chris Doohan’s first lines. When his name came up on screen, of course, I knew why he sounded *exactly* like James Doohan! 😂 I can see why he’s made something of a career for himself playing Scotty in various media and incarnations. What a pleasure. I look forward to enjoying the other ten episodes. Thank you (and others here) for inspiring me to go look at this fan+ series that I’d never given a chance. Long live and prosper!

I used to live right next to Kingsland in St. Mary's. Had Star Trek Continues been in production while I was there, I would have been outside the sets every day begging to be made part of it.
Star Trek Continues was fantastic and I've watched it several times since discovering it years ago, to me it truly feels like the latter part of the 5 year mission and the fact y'all got people like John da Lancie to take part and got Michael Forest back as Apollo was amazing. Also I commend whoever wrote the line explaining away the middle initial R on Kirk's tombstone from Where No Man Has Gone Before, so simplistic and yet completely believable. I wish I could make the trip to Georgia to see the sets, I saw the Star Trek Set Tour in upstate New York but I feel this would be the true pilgrimage.

It’s well known that CBS/Paramount came out with the notorious fan film guidelines because the fans were producing better content than they were. It was really nothing more than jealousy on their part. STC is certainly one, if not the best, example of this. For me, I think that STC was the best fan film series produced. Vic Mignona was a major reason why. Unlike other actors that tried to act like Kirk, Vic Mignona WAS Kirk. And the supporting cast was fine, too-no clunkers in the bunch!!! The only way that we’ll ever get Star Trek fan films of this length and caliber again would be if CBS/Paramount would remove their restrictions. But I have more faith for a snowball in Hell than I do for them to do the right thing!!!
VIC get another show off the ground. New ADVENTURES. with THE REFIT enterprise. Do shorts with new enterprise. Just build part of the new Bridge CGI in the rest. Do a multiverse version and have Kirk not die on a fire escape. Time travel before he fights Malcolm McDowell. Also use the current bridge and do the Capt. Pike early Missions. Gets some 50s style Funiture and use the current sets. with the modifications of the early enterprise. So many options to keep the directing we need of these types of things.

The guidelines were so strict that they would prevent long-form productions like Star Trek Continues, which meant Vic could only legally finish the last episodes he had filmed, but no more. CBS threatened all fans so badly that almost all of them gave up.
@@wayned6242 When I went to Neutral Zone, Vic took us on tour, and he told us that a 'certain' similar studio (a museum now) drew the attention of CBS / Paramount, by launching this huge crowdfunding project which raised millions. Yea, that wasn't subtle for sure. That's when CBS tightened it's noose around the necks of other fan film operations.
A great set design job, just with respect for the characters being half of it, will be better than anything done in Star Trek since ST Enterprise. I'm counting down the minutes to see this work.
While projects like these are impressive and I applaud the effort, I don’t get why they tend to limit themselves to the exact set design details that original productions were limited to way back in the stone age of sci-fi TV. Don’t hear me so go kelvin on it, absolutely not! But add some depth and texture and build in more function where it enhances the story. The dream for starship design would not have been plain flat gray walls like TOS was limited to by budget and TV quality of the day. So imagine what detail would have been there and what they had to pair down from because of the limits they had and put that detail back. Heck, probably lots of concept art to draw from. Enterprise did this pretty well actually. A more industrial and rugged design is probably closer to what we’ll eventually make, but regardless of the overall aesthetic, the key to visually make these projects interesting to me would be to just add a degree or two of detail to any flat gray surface.

Can someone on Earth--PLEASE EXPLAIN to me how Paramount can't produce Star Trek as faithful as these fan-produced gems???? I don't understand the lack of vision and backward thinking of this corporation. I'd grab The Neutral Zone guys, Axanar Group and other well-produced and dedicated fan/producers, give them a good budget and an order to continue producing Trek the way it should be!

After pushing Agenda Trek for almost a decade, Paramount would rather go broke and be absorbed by Warner Bros than give Vic the budget to produce more classic Trek episodes, which people would actually watch. Hollywood deserves its fate.

Feeding a pet even involves politics. What Star Trek became in the last 7 or 8 years is single-minded propaganda...presenting only one "correct" side to every issue. That's why almost nobody watches the new stuff. You can walk into Target and still buy a Shatner figure or a (real) 1701 right now. Not so much the paltry handful of Discovery merch. "Those" fans are the ones they know still care about real Star Trek. That's why the classic merch is the only stuff that sells.

Yes, it was truly some of the Best After Trek. Paramount should have backed it and Axinar as side Trek projects.

Can someone on Earth--PLEASE EXPLAIN to me how Paramount can't produce Star Trek as faithful as these fan-produced gems???? I don't understand the lack of vision and backward thinking of this corporation. I'd grab The Neutral Zone guys, Axanar Group and other well-produced and dedicated fan/producers, give them a good budget and an order to continue producing Trek the way it should be!
What a missed opportunity star trek🎉 continues was. Killed of deliberately because it was too faithful to the legacy and no means or money was lacking to accomplish that evil. We were deprived of something with great potential to make people happy.

Star Trek Continues was so brilliant, so well crafted, so true to the spirit of Star Trek that Paramount had to kill it. A greta loss and a horrible disgrace.
After pushing Agenda Trek for almost a decade, Paramount would rather go broke and be absorbed by Warner Bros than give Vic the budget to produce more classic Trek episodes, which people would actually watch. Hollywood deserves its fate.

Star Trek was always political, everything down to a friendship between two people involves politics. Feeding a pet even involves politics.
What Star Trek became in the last 7 or 8 years is single-minded propaganda...presenting only one "correct" side to every issue.
That's why almost nobody watches the new stuff. You can walk into Target and still buy a Shatner figure or a (real) 1701 right now. Not so much the paltry handful of Discovery merch.
"Those" fans are the ones they know still care about real Star Trek. That's why the classic merch is the only stuff that sells.
