    Ted was treated like a FREAK almost from day 1. His family didn't know what to do with him. He wasn't put into accelerated classes. He didn't attend school with other bright people until Harvard where he was treated like a freak because of his young age! Then he was in the study where he experienced 200 hours of abuse over 3 years! Please! This is all ridiculous! Then, is it any wonder Ted developed schizophrenia?!
    Ted could be the poster boy for how a bright person can get off the track if they're not treated correctly. I've noticed bright people, if they aren't in appropriate circumstances, are often either treated like freaks or exploited, neither of which is healthy. I don't feel surprised Ted became a recluse.

    I was just discussing this video with my mum, and she came out with something surprisingly profound. For all his hatred of technology, if Ted had been around in our age of social media and UA-cam, he probably would have been able to influence more minds and get his point across to way more people than he ever could have done with bombs. Which... kind of blew my mind (pun not intended). The very technology he hated could have given him the means to get his point across to thousands of people peacefully. He had such a brilliant mind, I can't help but wonder what he could have achieved if he'd focused his brilliance on bettering humanity instead of... blowing up innocent people.

    • @justinedse8435
      @justinedse8435 9 місяців тому

      He was around during the time of UA-cam and social media but wasn't allowed to use it due to being in jail. He most likely wouldn't have used it because it would mean being complicit in the tech machine. Lemmings on platform. That was everything he despised.
      Maybe bombing the servers that run UA-cam would've been his speed.😅

    You GOTTA SEE the Netflix show about him. “Manhunt: Unabomber” it’s so true to this story and paints a portrait of Ted that (albeit unfortunately) makes who he is and what he does kinda make sense - plz don’t come for me 😭 I just mean makes sense in terms of how his Manifesto portrays his ideologies and how firm he was in his beliefs, almost to a cult-like state, explaining why he felt entitled to do what he did. Insanity. Calamity. Oh, the humanity.

    • @laurelrose7018
      @laurelrose7018 3 роки тому +3

      I thought the same at first. The episode dedicated to Ted and history story was one of the most heartbreaking episodes with a beautifully constructed narrative. And I definitely place major blame on Harvard for the experiments they put him through.
      However, that Netflix miniseries (as well as Bailey's video) really over-sympathize him I think. They completely leave out some of his most evil of thought processes, like the fact that in one of his journals he wrote about how he almost shot a little girl dead but that her mother was too nearby, referring to each of them as "little b**ch" and "big b**ch." And the mother remembers precisely the day that Ted aimed a gun straight at her daughter, so it wasn't just idle journaling.
      That part of his story broke my sympathy for him. Idk there just seems to be a big difference between being evil enough to send bombs places where it might hurt people vs being evil enough to look a toddler straight in the eyes and think of her as a b**ch you should shoot down.
