wanted to say: there were a LOT of wartime atrocities committed by American soldiers during the Vietnam war. I personally believe the statement about the two Vietnamese victims; not only were atrocities like this ignored, sometimes they were actively encouraged by fellow soldiers. I feel so sorry for these women.

My great uncle who was a veteran from the Vietnam war used to boast about the hand trophy he has in his basement.
He showed it to my cousins and I who were mostly 9-12 years old, and I have never felt that sick to my stomach. Seeing that mutilated hand was like a cold slap to the face, realizing that actual people could THAT to other people and even be proud of it.
If this guy can get married 4 times... There is hope for everyone

My dad was one of the investigators who had to interview Shawcross before his trial. My dad was 6’2” and a military veteran, but when he came home after interviewing him, he ran into our bathroom and vomited several times. This was also the first time I ever saw my dad cry. He would only ever say that he had met the devil.

Fun fact… my dad was the cop on transport during his trial here in Rochester where I grew up…. and actually if you watch the documentary on Arthur Shawcross, you'll see my dad walking him in-and-out of court.
I remember my dad talking about how creepy this guy was and what made it worse is that if you didn't know that he had done anything you would think he was just a normal old man...and then as soon as he starts talking you know something's off.
Growing up in the area, everybody knows about him, But once you know about him nobody really talks about it

Dude I watched a whole interview to this guy. The way he told the interviewer what he did... Not even flinching. Completely devoid of any emotion. The only muscle he moved on his face was this strange twitch of his eyes. It was genuinely terrifying
Right?! I just watched it about a week ago (Netflix) and it blew my mind! And the fact he has a relationship with his adult daughter and she visits him in prison with her children....🤦♀️
You know that interview was actually more of a relief to me than a horror. You can see that he is really and truly insane, it is almost like it is just not that complicated. He is nuts. He is barely human. I guess I find people with remorse for their crimes more creepy because they do know and understand the evil of their actions.

Agreed 100%. It’s why she’s pretty much the only true crime podcaster/UA-camr I can watch. Even watching the crime tv shows like criminal minds I’m usually playing a game or doing a puzzle or something whiles watching just to ease some of the darkness.

Usually it is difficult to get criminal records sealed. You generally need to show you have made changes outside of prison over many years or have committed the crime as a juvenile.

I am from Watertown Ny, and he is still talked about to this day, and is kind of a scary bed time story that is told. My grandfather actually knew him and said he was a creep and that everyone tried to stay away from him.
I literally went to school with some family members of some of Shawcross's victims. In forensics classes, teachers had to make sure there weren't any before talking about him in class. I also had a friend whose mom dated him.

People like this need to be studied so that it can be prevented. Knowing the signs is the key to keeping innocent children and adults safe. This guy had some serious issues and someone like this cannot be in society.
This was literally in my backyard, I live right across the street from the river in Rochester, NY near Turning Point park where they found some of the victims. If you hike deep into the woods there is a SUPER CREEPY memorial statue to the victims with all these stone women's faces. It's hard to find but I have stumbled across it a couple times over the years. My friend's dad was one of the detectives responsible for catching him!

It does seem like they get protected by the law anyway, but the sealed records that was a whole new "to serve and protect."

@@ashm6739 or we could just… stop charging people for basic rights like medical care? also the medical care in prisons is super awful. most prisoners don’t receive the medical treatment they need. there’s a lot the US needs fix

Hi Bailey, I wish you would look into the case of Harley Dilly, young boy from Ohio. He was a young boy who's body was found dead in a fireplace. Many people blame the parents, but it was ultimately called an accidental death, very interesting story. Please make a video about his case. Most people don't think that it was an accident.
Geez! I did a very limited read and how does a 14 yr old boy accidentally wond up in a chimney? I mean I have a son.amd boys can be wild and there might be. 0.001% chance this 14 yr old might have decided to play and got trapped but...seems pretty..suspish to me!

@@shanna3148 Not ALL vets come out with physiological disorders. Honestly most come out perfectly fine. But SOME come out with loads of problems and its sad. Vets definitely deserve more rights to paid therapy and other treatments.
