    I'm confused, in your video with the red GT350 you spoke against progressive springs and now you chose to put them on the GT350R...can you explain why you ended up choosing these instead of the BMR Handling Springs, I really appreciate your time and the videos you make...I have learned so much
    Thanks!

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 роки тому +1

      these are not progressive the rear springs are called dual rate big difference than a typical progressive spring. I chose these because our roads have gotten so bad and to improve ride quality and it made a huge improvement. BMR is a great spring if you have nice smooth roads but if you have potholes and speed bumps on highways the are too rough.

    Just curious how come you went with FP instead of BMR? You seemed like a big fan of the BMR springs from your previous GT350 because they’re a true linear spring vs the progressive rear springs that come with the FP set. How do they compare?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 роки тому +3

      the BMR were great on smooth roads but its been 3 years since I had those on my red GT350 and our roads have gotten destroyed since. the FPP rear is a dual rate which may not be considered a true progressive design. the Eibach is a true progressive spring and those bounce like crazy in NY. I love how the car is flatter now, less bounce and more grip with the new springs. with the original R springs and Cup 2 the car would skate and skip over all the bumps and imperfections and at high speeds it was not fun with the back end always losing control. So far I have about 400 miles on the new springs and absolutely love them i see no compromise for my needs.

      @z06.nubdub 2 роки тому +1

      @@autofanaticcars Awesome thanks for the feedback! One thing i'm worried about is having the rear end kick out during spirited drives due to imperfections in the road. Would you say the FPP springs helps keep the car more planted on bumpier roads than the BMR springs?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 роки тому +1

      on the street the sway bars really wont benefit much on the track they could mainly in the rear but the oem bars are good and its best to learn the handling limits with the springs, shocks and alignment and tires versus trying to run with bars beforehand

      After putting these FP springs on and going with R spec wheels with 305/30R19 front and 315/30R19 rear PS4S tires, my heights from bottom of tire to top of wheel well are slightly over 26.5 inches front and right at 27.5 inches rear
      I like my front fitment but if I’m being honest I wish the rear would sit about a 0.5 inch lower. Now that I have less sidewall than the original GT350 MPSS tires, the wheel well gap has increased slightly. I notice that for your 350R the front wheel gap is about the same as mine but your rear gap is a little bit less. I guess my springs just sit every so slightly higher. I dont want to swap my springs to anything lower as my front end is scraping while just driving if I hit a dip in the road. I also barely clear my driveway now. I’ll just have to live with my fitment

  • @williamclark3712

    Hi Phil I just noticed that you went with 305 on the front and 315 on the rear when you switched over to Pilot 4S. Those tires in 4S spec are actually wider than the 305/315 Cup2 that come on the R from the factory. Any reason why you went with wider tire? Going with 295/305 in 4S would have maintained the same tire width as 305/315 in Cup2, or maybe you already knew this?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 роки тому

      I did know the cup2 were a bit smaller for their sizes. too late now but i actually like the new look so its not worth changing them out again. I did not like the 325 out back on the stock wheels thats why I waited for the OEM sizes to be in stock with the car lowered and with more camber it tucks in just right

      the main reason i did the FPP spring kit is because of the dual rate rear springs to help with the bad roads im driving on, Since i had my red GT350 our roads have gotten so bad over the last few years which makes it hard to enjoy any car around here so if you use the BMR springs it becomes very harsh over bad consistent bumps which is our new norm around here but so far choosing the FPP springs was the right decision for now.
