Here it is, folks! One of the greatest muscle cars ever built, the 2018 Shelby GT350R. Ever since driving the standard GT350 a few years ago, I've always wondered how much of a difference the R would make in regards to the overall driving experience. Ford went a long way in making the R one of the most hardcore track cars to come from the USA. Under the hood is a 520HP, 5.2L V8 with a 8,200 RPM redline and a 6-speed manual transmission. Just that sentence alone hits all the right marks in my book for an unforgettable drive. Enjoy!

Lots of fun shooting this one!! Look out for the HPA Golf R, Celica GT4, and a 1ZZ-Swapped Toyota MR-S coming very soon. - Marcus
Marcus what about reviewing a Camaro ZL1 1LE, the 350R is a direct competitor, except for the horsepower.
High Hopes that’s the biggest downfall of the new GT500...it not coming with a manual option. If it does come in manual in the future, it will be a great car. What makes the GT350 more rare though is its manual transmission and flat plane crank. GT500 doesn’t use the flat plane crank.
I guarantee the GT500 will be more of a straight line car. 2 different cars, built for different purposes.
2019 Gt350R: I'm the last of the greatest mustangs.
2020 Gt500: *hold my supercharger*
Boo 2020 gt500
@REAPER FAN and an DCT, not manual like it should be
@REAPER FAN still 760hp is REALLY good, and you can get the supercharged Hennessy version of the gt350r with 850hp, so both big power and manual!
GT500 is looking like a heavy pig rn at 4,225 (leaked) lbs!
I don't care gt350r anyday 😎
I couldn’t afford a GT350 but coming from an import guy, the s550 made me fell in love with and that’s why I got one. 2019 Mustang GT
Really great bang for the buck but a totally different car.
12:45 "Perfectly naturally aspirated..."
Me: "...as all things should be."
UnorthodoxMasterOfGames that’s what I’m sayin. People be sleeping on NA cars
until you hit puberty and then youll man up to the gt500 that is better in every way
Adam Kalman nobody said anything about the gt350 being better lol
Bmicu 123 There’s just something so pure about linear power in a N/A car. Especially in the cars that have a very touchy throttle and rev-happy engine that just wants you to keep feeding in the gas, more and more, all the way to redline!
Adam Kalman Amen brother! What year GT500 have you driven? I think the 2013-14 GT500 is my favorite; I hope I get the chance to drive one one day
You guys dont get enough recognition for these reviews. Awesome video
My favorite American car! Coming from a JDM guy.
My father has an 18' track pack GT350 with the resonators removed and god that thing is fun.
Track pack no longer exist after 2016. They all come with the track pack as standard.
yes it is great, but it is not the last great Mustang Ford will build, certainly not.
it appears that a BOSS 429 is upon us and rumors are that a new N/A 5.8 Mach 1 is also in the pipeline.
But maybe the last with manual and quite likely the last with a real handbrake which in itself was a reason for me the get one.....;-)
Yea both those will have slush boxes exclusively, no thanks I’ll take this
@@radoncguy Idk about that, with the new gt500 and this, is seems like Ford is going the Porche 911 route. By that, I mean they may be doing versions of the Mustang that are more focused on out right lap times and ultimate performance (Basically their gt3 rs) as well as mustangs that focus more on the driving experience (911 r). More variants of the Mustang that successfully differentiate themselves from one another, I say heck yeah boyo.
The answer to the porche?? You mean the Camaro ZL1 LE that beat the porche at nerburgring?
Not trying to be a douche. I do like the new mustangs
@@Rossco139 he never said "the answer to porshe" he said they are going down the same route as porshe making multiple trims for multiple reasons
Everyone says they American cars can't handle. For those people check lap time of viper ACR with manual trans in nurburgring
Everyone? Don't use absolutes.
Yea the VIPER ACR was America's answer to the Porsche gt3 Rs
I love American cars more than anyone but the viper is a terrible example, it had huge potential and they made a super low effort try and didn’t even get a sub 7 second time, old viper, C6 ZR1 or ZL1 1LE are all way more impressive than the ACR
@@1240Dax your comment would be funny if it wasn't ignorant. The ACR is a great example and a bad ass car! That thing is legendary! Also the Ring attempt was grassroots, done be privately by fans, not Dodge. There were numerous things that went wrong during the attempt. Do a little research. At one point they were on track, no pun intended, for a sub 7 min lap time but the timer got caught under the driver's foot... a couple laps later after not changing tires they crashed. The 7:01 time was a warm up lap. Lol. But it must be said that the Ring favors higher hp cars. The ACR will really shine on smaller, tighter, more technical tracks... ya know, the kind with lots of turns? Exactly what the OP was talking about.
@@iluvcakes19 Can you read? I never claimed Dodge themselves did it, i was fully aware that it was a grassroots attempt judging from the fact i said low effort, it just is a waste of a great car, several things going wrong don't exactly scream great attempt to me, the car is amazing, the attempt however was not, that's why i mentioned a couple cars that had way better laps.
I own a Lizard Green 2016 GT350 and ive loved absolutely every second of it. Car definitely needs to be on the track to truly enjoy it. Its raw, its violent, its unrefined and its got soooo much SOUL and CHARACTER!!!
This is def the best all around American muscle car made to date!! Looks so damn good in white too!👌🏽
Engine had problems.
OspreyBravo18 Maybe the early ones...
Couldn't agree more lol
Not a muscle car.
I have one and I feel so lucky every time I drive it. I wouldn’t change anything about this car. Absolutely perfect mustang.
"That's a bold statement Cotton. Lets see if that pays off for 'em."
I can tell you with out a doubt You can NOT drive this car and NOT have a smile on your face ! Just simply rowing through the gears and listing to the mechanical music flowing out the tail pipes ! YES !...
This is my favorite mustang to date!! I really hope to be able to get one on my channel one day to drive.....I'm so jealous right now

"The Shelby GT350R Is The Last Great Mustang Ford Will Ever Build". NOT TRUE! Rumor has it they will bring back the King Cobra with even more decals and fake hood scoops than the original.
Hahahaaha
6:06 As someone in canada, I felt that quote personally
Stunning scenes, beautiful area, comments right on point with a personal note, pure and genuine enthusiasm, extremely professionally packaged - iconic video for an iconic car. The most iconic car of the decade at least to me. You created a true master piece, best spoken-on Shelby video on UA-cam.
The engine is what makes this car special, it sounds like nothing else
Production quality is through the roof
That sound is amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Totally agree with your theory....a great car and a beautiful country.
4:02 A carbon copy of my GT350 under the hood. Blue filter, hood struts, FP oil separators.
Love it.
There is only so much you can say about this kind of experience. There will never be another car like this again
Unfortunately the dealer price gouging turned me off.
Gotta buy slightly used to get a good deal
I got a brand new 2019 GT350R for 4k under sticker.
Great video, I have a gt350R leadfoot grey and love it. Never seen another one in leadfoot in my area, only one other R thats black.
Watched this video after watching a 2023 Mach 1 video and the Shelby GT350 is just so much more special of a car. Sounds amazing!
Loving the production on this one! Keep up the great work!
I love the fact that this car has only gained popularity since it came out. Everybody who drives it falls in love.
I have a 2019 GT350. I think it is the best car you can buy for under 70k! Sounds and drives great!
At times does anyone else hear a tone similar to the old 2 stroke screamn' Detroit Diesels?....damn that sound is awesome.
Absolutely gorgeous car, great production Marcus!
Your video is very well done, much better than mine! I could not help but notice that the chassis number of your car, JR343, is only one number after mine. My chassis number is JR342, delivered to a Northern Ohio dealership June 18, 2018. I purchased it June 28 and had it delivered to my driveway on the back of a flatbed truck, same day, and I backed it into my garage with 10.2 miles. Mine is white with blue stripes and has an identical option list. Today my car has 748.5 miles - not yet broken in, still driving it gently. I was invited by Ford Performance to drive this car in Atlanta, in July 2016. It is the most capable, most track focused car I have ever driven. I published two UA-cam videos when my car was new, but I do not have the equipment to video while driving. Good job of highlighting this car's capabilities in your presentation.
What if Ford resurrects the Boss 429 like they did with the Boss 302 in 2012 & 2013?🧐
Would be an absolute torque monster with 429 ci. (7Litres) with modern technology

Sick opening!
Then came the 2020 gt500. Good try, but far from the last great mustang. Ford is killing it. The s550 had me in awe...and it keeps getting better
Auto only tho
Yea I hate this bait clicking bullshit bitch like have you not seen the 2020 gt500
Until the GT500 proves it is a very good track car, the GT350 reigns.
Ty Mccoy, yeah your right. Never saw any videos. Your a clown....go away. You spend your life acting tough through UA-cam comments.....pathetic.
Freedom Rider I can agree with that, but I’ll put money down that it’s an awesome track day car. I’ve watched videos of ford performance engineers explaining the new aerodynamics of the car, and they’ve definitely done their research.
The opening feels like a Need for Speed game.
One of the best sounding, most beautiful car ever made in car history in my opinion ❤️
I will be buying this car. Before the 350, i was totally against ever owning a mystang. Gt500's are cool. But still a mustang and not that different. (In my opinion). But this, this engine and sound totally changed my mind. This is thr best sounding american v8. AND I LOVE CORVETTS!!!!!!!!
Billy Highfill vettes sound better IMO. Also look more foreign
You literally didn’t even answer your own question in the video of the reason why you think this is the last car like this Ford will ever make 😂. Dude you’ve done this same thing so many times in your vids. Stay on point.
lel
He pretty much covered it. The engine, the proper manual trans, great handling and the lack of selling out to power (aka GT500 crowd).
This car sounds amazing
You know, I've been in one and i have to say that Carol shelby would be proud
The wheels and the rear wing are worth 30 grand alone?! God damn lol.
thats another mustang right there lol
$26k
Best Ford vehicle to ever built yet, imo
The 2016 Gt350 a true American sports did an excellent job show casing what Ford can do but the all new Gt500 took it up a notch!
Nice front plate mount. I have a Jag F-type R and sound in terms of decibels is comparable. The GT350r is sweet.
So cutting out the resonators on a GT350 makes the sound the same as a GT350r? Well, that would be done the day I had one.
You wore out that bridge!
I have a 2020 GT350R in shadow black on order. Can’t wait!
The stang gt handles as good as an m3 for at least a decade now. Who thinks they cant handle these days?
I loved the video but its funny: My GT350 has 526hp (apparently the car in the video has “520hp”) and mine revs to 8,250rpm (his car only revs to “8,200”). Heheheh.
My dream car... ford really sets the bar in American sports car
woa I know that road, did not expect this to be filmed on the Island. Awesome video!
That’s My dream car.
That and a g Wagon for the family
Im so lost... i have an rs but damn this car has been on my mind for a while
Same, although the RS is gone now, and somethings on it’s way from Michigan 😉
i own a 2018 gt 350 R best car i have had
Revolution Martial Arts and Fitness congratulations man... i am thinking of getting a 2019 just bc the 2020s are hideous lol

Long live the 6M Manual (don’t @ me about auto being quicker)
The 2 Best “Well balanced all around HIGH performance American Coupes” you can by today are the 16-19 Shelby GT350 & the 16-19 ZL1/ZL1 1LE.. they do everything well, and swing way above there weight on Track/Course with cars costing more than double there MSRP’s
T U I completely agree
Max Rain 👊
Just want to say, that because of this video, I settled for the R. Thanks!
Glad to hear it! Still one of the greatest American cars I've driven.
The ZL1 1LE though...?
Its better than a ZL1 on the track
Imma say it now, I will work my ass of to own this car in the future💪🏿
willie bennett get that shit my man, be about it
That there is my dream car... Carted to the track behind a Power Wagon
As the Medical officer Rachel once said; “This fool is terribly misinformed” because they DID make the 3rd and possibly last generation of the true GT500. Not a Ford/Mustang guy but I gotta say from a styling and sound stand point… Ford really knocked it out of the park with both the GT350/GT350R and the GT500
I took my tuned up gt350 on that road last summer and looking forward to doing again
I’d still choose this over a gt500 if they were the same price
Great video. ...But don't expect this to be the last great Mustang.
That redline.
Thanks for explaining to the people who don’t know that this mustang was the last best mustang.
The mustang is my favorite car.
By my profile pic you might be able to tell that I love mustang’s.
Forrest. Why is it the last best??? What somehow makes it the best?
Last great mustang ever built? Guess everyone just forgets the mustang gt. GT= Grand Touring/ GTR= Grand Touring Racer...............As long as the GT stays we will always be built Ford tough lol.
Yep
@Duncan D'Amico plausible l but considering their were specifics listed that pertained to the perceived "greatness" of the gt350 I would call this a grey area but I digress. 🤷♂️
This is filmed on the roads I commute on !!, I just got a 15 GT and fucking love it !
Had a '17 GT350 non-R. Had a tune and ran E85 with LTH. That thing screamed until the motor went pop. Ford replaced the long block then I traded it in.
why would you run a NA motor on E85? Serious question i'm not trying to be a dick

Don't ever cross the yellow line around a corner. You'll have more fun and be a lot safer for everyone else if you keep it in the lines, especially when pushing the limits. Don't be dumb. You're setting an example here.
For the most part I agree, but I think this doesn't appear to be a blind corner, and has visibility for a few more. Still not a good habit to form, but it's not as bad when you have clear visibility.
Erik Grimsmo get out! Now, just leave. No one wants your health and safety

6 SPEED MANUAL FOREVER !!!
love the high rev engine
No it’s not. Ford has too much history in their Shelby lineup for them to not make more cars like the GT350R. No need to click bait your title. Ford has already found out and proven that their Shelby buyers want manuals.
Jace MK7 facts, the new gt500 will clearly prove that
It might not be the last great car they build, but I'd bet it will be the greatest. As the GT500 proves, most future cars will sacrifice their soul for more speed...usually straight line speed, and speed that can be attained by a shit driver. I do think the GT350/R will be the best Mustang ever.
Dolby109 nobody has even driven it yet and I’m sure they will eventually make a manual gt500
Joao Salvattore if the GT500 gets a manual soon, it will be great. Until then, it’s just another automatic fast car that anyone’s dead Grandma could drive fast lol
Dolby109 true. I bet Ford will continue to improve the GT350. They already have started to for the 2019 models. Eventually make it a 600hp n/a track monster, improving upon their already great magnaride suspension, and chassis improvements, etc...there are a lot of things they could do to improve it. As long as they keep it manual and n/a, it will continue to be special and great.
Hi I'm from the future I found sum called the 2020 gt500 Ford still makes damn great mustangs
What a beautiful beast
This is the best car I've ever owned and I've had quit a few.
There’s gonna be more manual super snakes fords been around the block
Talks about cornering capabilities... Proceeds to cut all the corners on public roads..
To Mustang- do you even corner properly
Mustang- yes
Awesome video in filming matters; great video concerning the car itself; best GT350R video with words for me because of the distinguished emotional enthusiasm in the whole setting. The vibes came right through over the ocean to flatplane continent. I really like the ZL1's torque and value for the price - but oh man, this rev-machine with its natural sound just always bites like a vampire.
The Shelby GT500 has joined the chat.
What about the latest GT500R? Does it have manual or not?
JJBLadybug27 automatic only. No manual option.
I'm like 2 years out from searching for my next expensive car. I'll be very sad if I can't get one of these or there's not something similar on the market
Keep them coming!
I wouldn’t treat a GT350R like that. I’d baby that car. I doubt Ford will ever make them like this again
Yes and to use the crazy cliche', this is a driver's car! To the enth degree; and they are seldom made anywhere, but either bespoke cars of certain very expensive European models. Great review!!
4:36 THE HAIR ON YOUR SKIN IS ACTUALLY STANDING!! LOL
TALK ABOUT GOOSEBUMPS!!! WHO WOULDN'T WHILE DRIVING THIS THING OF BEAUTY?!?!?!!!!!
Thank you for showing us
Just purchased a lightly used '17 - agree this is the greatest Mustang ever mass produced for track duty (owned a '12 Boss 302 prior). The way things are going, I don't think we'll see another Ford with this level of NA engine/transmission/suspension combination, along with all the other performance modifications from the factory - it almost ceases to be a Mustang. This car could be a future collectable...Excellent video, killer footage and narration!
Ugh, I don't even need the R, I'd be ok with the regular GT350, but I can't afford it! Just bought a 2019 GT and while it puts a giant grin on my face all the time, the GT350 is my dream Mustang!
No you didn't.
That sound
Video has aged extremely well as its still the last great mustang ford has made to date.
I wanted to be proven wrong. Haven't been yet
Awesome video for an awesome car!
This car sounds closer to an Ecoboost with a performance exhaust than a normal Mustang GT. Which is fine since don't like how the modern GTs sound anyway.
What are you smoking?
@@carlosdeleon9593 Matt Farah from The Smoking tyre says the same thing ( in his Cobb tuned mustang video), so do plenty other actual car guys who have heard them. Its due to the GT350s flat plane crank, which basically results in a firing order on the two banks of the V8 to sound like 2 inline fours running together.
nboy7 Right, but it doesn’t really sound like your standard flatplane v8, like a Ferrari, which has a more smooth sound. The GT350 crackles, pops, roars and has some rasp to it due to the uneven headers and a UDUD flatplane crank instead of the Ferrari UDDU crank.
@@carlosdeleon9593 Thats why i say it sounds like a tuned ecoboost rather than a Ferrari cause they crack and pop and have quite a similar sound. Go listen to MAPs ecoboost and see how similar they sound minus the turbo sounds obviously.
