Bagley will forever be my favorite artist for venom and carnage. Really liked the Agent Venom run.
Your point about 90s art is perfectly told. Every page felt like a challenge to execute the most creative and dynamic art. Today, it's pretty lazy, that's the truth. It's simply about getting the story out (which can be fine) but the art is secondary and flat af which is lame. It takes away the hype and immersion. In the 90s even if some issue aren't good, they art can carry you till the writing catches up. Comics are a visual medium.
Very good😊
I absolutely agree the Spider-Man Vs Venom Omni is a must have. Great stories and the artwork is incredible
I absolutely loved what Donny cates did for the venom mythos. Best venom story arc ever imo And Ryan Stegmans art fit so perfectly.
I’ve never really thought about getting these or looked into them. But my god when you cracked that first one it instantly teleported me back to playing Maximum Carnage as a kid. Could hear the theme song in my head too haha.
Yes!
Spider-Man vs. Venom is also my favorite Omnibus of all time!
🙌
@@GemMintCollectibles So much 90's nostalgia. Mark Bagley is is perfect drawing Spider-Man and Venom. And the Maximum Carnage story line was like Avengers Endgame for me as a kid 🤣
We need more of these every omnibus videos. They're awesome!
flash deservers his own set of omnis. not familiar with the agent ANTI-venom part but that would be great to include too
That Venom by Donny Cates had such a huge impact on my life. Love that run so much. Genius idea for a video bro. 🤘🏾🔥
New Venom trailer? What?
(pause--5 minutes later): Ooh, _I want to go to there,_ lol.
Might be controversial, but I really liked the first one. Didn't care for Let There be Carnage, though.
I always liked Venom as a "Spider-Man bad guy," but never really thought of him outside of that or the team-up in Maximum Carnage until the Donny Cates Venom stuff. Absolutely wonderful.
Got all three of the omnis with Cates' stuff in them (Absolute Carnage was my first omni pickup) and that made me want to get his older stuff too. Hope volumes 2 and 3 get reprints sometime.
14:31 Also looking forward to that Michelinie/Larsen reprint with this as the DM cover.
18:40 Man, just seeing this style of art makes me wish I had those cool hardcover books for The Maxx.
Venommm❤
I agree 90s art
There definitely should be Flash Thompson/ Agent Venom Omnibus'. Right now you can only collect that run through Marvel Epic Collection Agent Venom and The Savage Six. And I don't think that even covers the entire run, only the first 35 issues or so out of the 42 issues. Plus Flash then goes on to join the Thunderbolts as Agent Venom afterwards I believe. So Marvel could at the very least make a 3rd Flash Thompson Agent Venom Marvel epic collection that covers the remaining issues in that initial run and his run in thunderbolts and whatever else he is apart at that time. I have the 2 MEC TPBs and this run is fantastic. I just wish there was more collected like I said before.
I've enjoyed the Venom films, they are entertaining, so I'll give the new movie a shot. I only have Spider-man vs Venom and Venom by Donny Cates. I would totally buy an Agent Venom Omnibus!
We really need the ASM Event Venom Inc. in a Hardcover Collected Edition format! You'd like it, Gem, if you like the Cates & Stegman run. Venom Inc: Omega was Ryan Stegman's final full issue before the Cates' Venom run began 3 months later.
It really puzzled me why Marvel didn't ever release an Oversized Hardcover for it. The rest of the 2014 & 2015 series received OHCs. The 2014 series has 2 OHC Volumes collects all 18 issues and the 1.1-1.5 Learning To Crawl. Picking up 8 months after Secret Wars, the 2015 series was collected in ASM: Worldwide Volumes 1-3 for issues 1-28 & the Clone Conspiracy ASM Event OHC with tie-ins. Slott's run ran through issue 801. The Red Goblin OHC collects 794-801. We never got a Hardcover for issues 29-32 and Legacy 789-793. The Venom Inc Event took place in issues 792-793. I have a Custom OHC collecting all of the missing issues, along with Venom Inc Alpha, Omega, & Venom 159-160.
Stegman's art in the Venom Inc: Omega finale was incredible. I own 1 Page, and it's honestly one of my favorite Published Pages in my collection. Paired with the right Inker, his art is amazing (Ryan has stated that he doesn't like Inking himself - he said that JP Mayer Inks him the way he would Ink himself IF he had patience). His work on the Venom Inc. Event was basically a giant preview of everything to come in the Cates' Venom series! It's definitely a recommended read.
While the 2017 Venom series hasn't been the most lauded series, it is still important to the Venom mythos and how Eddie Brock got the symbiote back from Lee Price. You'd think that the Marvel Editorial staff would want to release a Hardcover Collected Edition to coincide with Price coming back. We both know HCs sell better than Trades... The main series is only 22 issues. Eddie got the symbiote back in issue 6.
I definitely agree with you that we need an Omnibus for the Agent Venom Rick Remender & Cullen Bunn run. I am currently reading it in the Complete Collection Trades. I gotta say - it is really good! It's a different dynamic for Venom. Issues 6-9 take place during Spider-Island. I switched over to that OHC to get the full story. You should do a run through of Agent Venom! I'd love to hear what you think of it.
I wonder what Marvel is planning to do with the Venom Modern Era Epic Collection Trade Paperbacks. Marvel Fandom has the 2 Agent Venom ones that have released as the 4th and 5th. Number 6, collecting 37-42 and the 13 Space Knight issues, releases in August. Fandom has a 7th one listed, though, with no details.
They've solicited the 18 issue Daniel Way 2003 Venom series as Volume 1. I'm interested to see how it goes and what is included with the rest.
First video of yours I've watched in months
Haven’t read much Venom, think the only run I’ve read is the one where Flash Thompson was Venom, that’s what was out back when I was reading Marvel.
Great timing, I just finally dipped into the wallet for Volume 3!
I hope we see Venom in the mcu.
I don't have Venom omnibus 3 .. and it's to expensive to get right now.. The only one I'm missing..🤬
I'm currently reading "agent" venom by remender and then bunn digitally and it's so good. Such an odd oknibus not to exist.
I f I not mistaken Venom will also be getting his solo game.
I am gonna get the first Omnibus shown. I am not a huge comic collector I have maybe 1 floor to ceiling shelf about 2/3 full, Berserk, Akira, Fables, Preacher, Junji Ito, Some Marvel and DC (Brian Azzarello Joker, Old Man Logan) etc. But I had a couple of the Venom vs Juggernaut comics as a kid so for the nostalgia purposes ill get it.
Great taste
Anyone know if they’re reprinting come 2 & 3?
Are Venomnibus vol 2 & 3 still in print?
👍
I have the rick remender epic collection
Do you think its a good time to sell The Amazing Spider-Man #316? I got tons of those books.
I do actually. With the new venom movie people will have more interest in the character than before or after.
The Venom movies are terrible. Better to just stick with the omnis. It's a travesty we haven't had an agent venom omnibus but we have squirrel girl.
Hopefully in the future we get a Donny cates venom movie. Donny cates venom is by far the best solo venom comic run ever made.
I want to get D. kate venom run
90s marvel art is so peak because image they had to compete with the image.
Hell yeah. Love Venom
Dude, they did reprint Spider-Man vs Venom in 2022. Same story, sold out quick. There needs to be a 3rd.
I also don't think King in Black is a venom omnibus, however, I get the connection. I can't believe silver surfer black didn't make it in the King in Black omnibus seeing as how it's the surfboard that turns into that badass sword at the end.
Where is your absolute carnage omnibus?
Up there with the other carnage Omni
Hoooly shit I just subbed and the first video I watched you were shaved hahaha you should go back bro the short hair suited you
I genuinely don't understand why so many people love the Donny Cates run so much.
It started awesome indeed, but then he went way too far and too cosmic for a character that used to be so street level.
Carnage stuff also goes too far imo.
And all the new designs are edgy teens dreams. All the horns, giant axes and whatnot. It's too stupid for me.
Same in regards to the Venom 3 trailer. It doesn't look the least bit interesting to me. It seems to me they're putting more energy into the comical and silly sides of the Eddie and Venom dynamic. Not feeling it as of right now.
WhatNot has probably the worse/ most try hard comics out 🤣NinjaFunk??? bad Music?!…..AstroBots was maybe the only good one to come out of it but man….WN should stick to its auctions 🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol well WN doesn’t actually create the book, they just distribute. Our long time sponsor ThatSpiderManBooth created the comic. Ninja Funk is their brand.
You know what I mean 🤣🤣🤣
Still love your vids brotha
