If i'm not mistaken, this figure wasn't based on Riot at all, but rather, this figure was the source for the name. The same thing happened with Phage, except I'm pretty sure the figure that name was pulled from was a figure of a Xenophage, something that was named in the comics. Symbiotes have just the weirdest behind the scenes historys.
