Clear and concise instructions with no fanfare or theatrics. Well done ma'am.
Thank you so much - I appreciate the kind words :)
This is the BEST Instant Pot instructional video I've seen! I've had to endure some of the worst inst. videos on UA-cam before finally finding yours! Your instructions are very clear and easy to understand. You got straight to the point on each task you were talking about. Thank you very much for teaching me how to use me Instant Pot. I've had it for 11 months now and didn't know all the functions because the instruction manual wasn't nearly as straight forward and concise as yours. YOU"RE THE BEST!
Wow, Darlene - thank you so much for your kind words. It's a pleasure to help. Enjoy your "new" Instant Pot :)
You saved my life because the instruction manual definitely is not this detailed. Excellent video... thank you!!
Great to hear! Always happy to help and feel free to reach out with any questions.
WoW! What a FANTASTIC job you did. This is the type of detailed instructional video every product should come with. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I only watched this vid a third of of the way in and I liked and subscribed. I've watched a half a dozen other vids and this is by far the best. You have a nice voice to listen to and you obviously know IPs and are very informative. Also I know you know Ips because I've had one for over 3 years now. I wore it out. Basic duo model. And I've been pressure cooking for about 30 years. I'm excited to get the newer improved model with the air fryer liid. Maybe now I can retire my cheap air fryer and and rotisserie that live on my deck out back. I like that this unit does not smell up the whole kitchen with smoke as an air fryer etc can do. So nice to have a contained unit. And I can take it rving. As a multicooker.
Wow, thanks so much, and I'm so glad I could help.
Amazingly helpful. Providing clarity and giving thorough info and instructions. Phewee. I was feeling lost, before i found your video. Thanks so much: From Northern England🙂
I'm so glad to help, you're most welcome!
Hi there! This is the BEST beginner guide I have seen so far. Many of these details are overlooked by other presenters and users. Well done!

I'm really glad that you found the video helpful!
@@PainttheKitchenRed me too. Very interesting pot.. LoL 😁
That was an excellent video! You did a great smooth detailed explanation. Do you know the difference between roast and bake? Nobody’s put that on the video yet. I’m assuming there’s not much difference. God bless you, thank you and can’t wait to see more videos
Hi George, thank you for the kind words. Bake and Roast are both presets with different default temperatures and times (that you're able to change). The main difference between the two is that Roast will beep partway through cooking to turn the food. Bake does not do this. Hope that helps.
Thanks for this vid. It help me to balance what i need. Maybe i might this rather than starting with the airfryer😁😁😁😁
Glad it was helpful! The IP air fryer lid is great. The only negative is that the capacity of the basket is less than a larger air fryer.
very helpful ;-) thx
Glad it helped!
Wow, thanks! I've learned so much already and I'm only half way through.
My uncle gave me mine as a hand me down, and while I've used it for over a month it was all trial and error because I never got the booklets that come with it.
I'm glad to hear that!
8:38 thanks, I was trying to get to low saute and was struggling
You're welcome!
Really appreciate your explanation, Miss Nina ! Now I know what to look for before I purchase a pressure cooker, instant pot, or air fryer--instant pot combination? 🤗👍
You're welcome! I would recommend the AF-IP combo. I really love it. Unless you already have an air fryer. Just my two cents :)
@@PainttheKitchenRed
My only kitchen accessories have been 2 slow cookers. 1 small, 1 large. No airfryer or pressure cooker yet. My housekeeper swears by her two separate devices. I was concerned about the combination of both for cleaning purposes and the heavy 22lb weight to move this combo around? Thx !
@@SweetChicagoGator I keep it on the counter and keep the air fryer lid on top of the unit - it just fits. I store the IP lid, which is less cumbersome, in a cabinet. I don't move it around much. Good luck!
you're a genius !
Lol, thank you! Happy to help.
Thank you so much for this video. Can you cook eggs in this unit. And can you show a video on how you did it .
Pamela, you can cook eggs in it: pressure cook for 2 minutes on high pressure and do a 15 minute or full natural release. That's my preferred method. Many people like the 5-5-5 method: pressure cook 5 minutes on high pressure, do a 5 minute natural release, place in an ice bath for 5 minutes. Hope that helps.
Quite literally, this is the missing manual. Thanks much for the video.
Thank you Jim, happy to help!
Thanks for an excellent tutorial. I don’t know if you have tried turning the multifunctional rack over but if not, it acts as a very firm stand possibly for any air frying. Was this intentional.
You have to fiddle a bit to get the rack into its inverted position
Thank You
Great tip! Yes, I do use it upside down for pressure cooking too. If it wasn't intentional, it's a happy accident :) Thank you for your comment!
Hi thanks for this great video.
I'd like to ask you how to clean up the lid for airfryer? Is it difficult to clean ?
Sorry for the delayed response! I just wipe it down with a wet cloth (on the surfaces) when it's cool. Not hard to clean, but I haven't yet had too much mess or splatter.
@@PainttheKitchenRed Thanks 👍 I've bought it and it's really easy to clean and it doesn't make such a big mess.
Thank you so much for explaining I’ve never owned one of these gadgets I actually had thrown out that little plastic condensation thingy that goes on the side, I had to go dig it out the trash bin outside 😅 thank god I watched this video also I couldn’t close the lid ahahaha 😅
Thank you
You are so welcome! Hope you enjoy using your new Instant Pot. Feel free to reach out at any time.
works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
Yes it does!
Thank you some much! You answered all my newbie questions! I tried the Airfryer lid yesterday, but.. I didn't get the "connection" sound as with the pressure/slow cooker lid. Instead all lights blinked and the display said "C9". With my hands/arms I put pressure on the lid and the worked (still no "connection" sound though) till I released the pressure... C9 and all lights blinking...Do I do something wrong or might there be an technical issue...? You've experienced this?
Glad you liked the video. I'm so sorry for the delayed reply (the holidays!) Did you figure out your problem? I would say you need to push down on the lid to get that connection. Also make sure there's no debris where the connector pins are located. If nothing works, you should return it and get a replacement.
very well explained . . . agree with jcm . . . no fanfare is a plus . . . think I will be less intimidated by my daughter's new toy 🤣
Thank you so much, hope you enjoy using the duo crisp!
Hi I just wanted to know if what button you should press for making yogurt and cooking rice and also what does Sauté and Sous Vide mean
Hi Jasmen, Saute is what you use to fry or cook ingredients as you would on the stovetop. Sous vide is a way to cook foods (meats, in particular) at a low temperature for long periods of time (see my video here: ua-cam.com/video/LDnGmuJgSh4/v-deo.html). The Duo Crisp doesn't have a Yogurt function but you can use the Sous Vide button to mimic the Yogurt button. You would set the temperature to 110 degrees and the time to 9 hours. Make sure you use ultra-pasteurized milk if you don't want to boil the milk. If you use regular pasteurized milk, boil it first in Saute mode or on the stove and then let the temperature of the milk go down to 110 degrees, add the starter, and set the temperature as mentioned above. For cooking rice, you would use the Pressure Cook button (see my video here: ua-cam.com/video/DiH7DR9FI4w/v-deo.html). Hope that helps.
Hi again
.Binnie H here again. I am thinking
Of making potatoe soup and since I had gotten the burn notice on my Goulash >>should I do anything special in making potatoe soup.. Hate to get a burn notice again. I have potatoes I need to cook up. You have been so kind in helping me with my burn notice problem. So I wanted to start out right with this soup correctly. First time making it. I do know to put milk with thickener in after it has cook and put on saute to thicken it and then turn it off. It will thicken. I hope that is right?? Thank you again and I never give up. Have a nice day.
Bonnie H in Michigan. 🙂👍
Hi Bonnie, yes sounds like you've got the right idea!
This video was great but I'm new to this and didn't catch if the one you are using is 6qt or 8qt
Reynna, it's an 8 quart.
what is the difference from bake and roast? and how would the cooking time be compared to the regular oven? and what lid do you use for bake, roast? mine did not come with manual or instructions and when I asked they said I have to go online but that is not convenient for me as I have no internet and no printer. it would be handy to have on hand especially for cooking times. very frustrating when I have no idea how long to cook things like chicken or overcook beef/fish.
Air Fry, Bake and Roast are pretty much just different presets for time and temperature but functionally the same. e.g. Bake is preset to 30 minutes at 365 degrees, but you can change it to be whatever you want. Hope that answers your question.
Hello please share how to make Yogurt or which function to use in a duo crisp? Earlier version of Instant pots have a function called 'yogurt and it's easy to make that way.
Looking forward to your answer.
Thank you for sharing info on duo crisp.
:)
Hi Payal, sorry for the delay in responding. You can use the Saute function to boil the milk. And use the Sous Vide function to incubate the milk at 110 degrees. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you, ma’am I am really enjoying watching this descriptive video of an air fryer. I haven’t bought one yet and am very keen on buying one soon. My only problem why I am hesitant is because the air fryer lid is not dishwasher safe. 😕 How are we supposed to clean the air fryer lid from inside for deep cleaning? I am not satisfied with just wiping it off, as instructions suggest. One guy was showing on UA-cam how to unscrew all the parts of the kid to clean it. That is not practical at all. Do you have any advice? Thank you.😀
That's a great question. Unfortunately the parts near the heating element can only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Mine hasn't become so dirty that it bothers me and I'm a clean freak :) You're right - opening the screws isn't practical. It's kind of like a toaster which gets dirty around the coils and you can only do so much to clean it.
@@PainttheKitchenRed Thank you so much for writing back, Neena. I am glad to know that your air fryer lid hasn’t got bad yet, bad enough to clean it deeply instead of just wiping it. But eventually it may get dirty enough. Then what are we supposed to do?! I am a huge neat freak person and I wish they had designed the lid differently so it’s easy to pull apart in case we need to clean it inside the heating area of the lid. I think in future they should really do that. Thanks again for replying, I appreciate it.😀
@@PainttheKitchenRed Hi Neena, I did reply back to your reply about cleaning the air fryer lid. But I just thought of this! Do you think I could cover that part where the heating element of the air fryer lid is, with aluminum foil to avoid any splatters that go inside the heating element? That way we can just remove the foil after each use and put a new one each time? Do you know if this would be safe?
Can you make bread in this one since there's no yogurt setting? I heard you can bring it up to warm turn it off and rise the dough, yes?
Yes, you can use the soups vide setting which allows you to customize the temperature :)
I suggest ditching the air fry basket and buying a foldout steamer basket($5) that have been around for decades. it allows for full diameter uses of cooker and also has much more airflow holes for frying or steaming
That's a great suggestion. Thank you for sharing.
Is the air fryer basket not stainless steel? If not, better ditch it!
Can you use the bottom part and the dehydration tray at the same time to cook things?
You can, but they will cook at different rates since the top is much closer to the heating element. Also the dehydration tray is a bit tricky to remove when it's hot (if you wanted to get to the bottom contents). I use bamboo tongs.
Thank u! Just got this one, but it doesn't have instructions for soups. Any advice please:)?
Hi Margaret, your best bet is to follow an Instant Pot recipe. Each type of soup would have a different cooking time. You don't need a Soup button, just use the Pressure Cook button. I hope that helps.
you need directions on how to make soup??? maybe hire a chef instead!!!
Hi, if we need to use 'Normal' pressure mode, how to operate? Thanks
There's either high pressure or low pressure. I would say "normal" pressure is high pressure.
I've been using an air fryer for quite a while, but, I just graduated to the Instant Pot 11 in 1. I can just use the air fryer mode with any air fryer recipes, right?
Hi Bo, yes you can! I would keep an eye on things though. Sometimes if the food is elevated, it can cook a bit faster.
Hi can you make basmati rice in this pot please as it doesn't hve a rice button
Hi Shenaz, you can do basmati rice by following this video for jasmine rice, but use 6 minutes. Basically you will use the pressure cook button instead of rice.
Hi, I recently switched to duo crisp from duo60. I noticed it doesn’t have the yogurt setting anymore. I used that to boil milk and make paneer earlier. I was wondering if there’s a way to boil milk automatically like in the yogurt setting as before without having to watch over the milk. Thanks
Thanks for your question. There is no equivalent one-button setting. However, you could experiment with the custom temperature in the sous vide setting. Bottom line, the milk needs to come to the temperature of 160 to 180 degrees. I know that's not the answer you were looking for :)
@@PainttheKitchenRed no problem. Thank you for your quick response.😊
Thank u so much…still I’ve 1question hope u reply ….I’ve one xtra pot in the box…one is steel pot..2 nd is air fryer basket nd the 3rd one is same bt little bit smaller like steel pot bt it’s material is like air fry basket…so I want to know can I use it without steel pot or put it inside the steel pot…l could not get the ans from anyone pls reply…thanks
Hi Tilak, I've never heard of this accessory being shipped with the Duo Crisp model. From what you're describing, it appears to be a ceramic inner pot for the 3 quart Instant Pots. Is this what it looks like: www.instanthome.com/product/instant-pot/accessories/3-quart-ceramic-non-stick-inner-pot-2 ? If so, you will need to use the steel pot and you can use the smaller pot for "pot in pot" pressure cooking. See my video on how to make rice for an idea of how to use it: ua-cam.com/video/DiH7DR9FI4w/v-deo.html
@@PainttheKitchenRed thanks..I’ll watch that video of yours
@@PainttheKitchenRed I’ve seen that product video..yes it is the same pot I got bt with 6qt instant pot…I watch the other video pot in pot…thanks a lot
Hi! I’m in Canada and never got the cooking time tablet, where can I get a copy?
I bet you could get them to send it to you if you contact them. I do have a blog post with cooking times for many different foods: www.paintthekitchenred.com/instant-pot-cooking-times-a-complete-guide/
How high is the temperature in the pressure cooking function low/high?
You can do high or low pressure. I use high 99% of the time.
I just got mine and I don't have the thing that goes on the bottom of the air fry basket. Is that something that I need to purchase separately?
Jennifer - no, the base for the air fryer basket is included. If you're sure that it's not already attached to the basket, you probably need to contact the company and see if they'll send you a replacement.
Hi, Is that air fryer basket made of Teflon??
The air fryer basket for the Instant Pot Pro and Duo Crisp models is nonstick, yes.
I got a duo pot with out a user manual could you send me a Manual or some recipes
Hi I recently got the instant pot and I noticed that I’m missing the air fryer base and rake are those two things necessary to use or am I ok without it
Sorry for the delay in replying, Dulce. You should contact the Instant Pot company or amazon if that's where you got the Instant Pot from. They should give you a replacement. Although you can use a steam rack to place food on, the basket is really handy for fries and roasting veggies.
there are two versions of the duo crisp. the one WITH OUT the sous vide button does NOT come with the rack trivet. i suspect you tossed the base by accident.
it was stupid of instapot to make to version w same name and cosmetics but only $10 diff in price. confusiong
I recently purchased a Duo crisp air fryer and today for the first time I peeled two potatoes, cut them for fries, oiled them slightly, salt and pepper and put them in the bottom of the basket. About 30 minutes later checking every 5 minutes the fries were still white about 125 deg internal temp. I finally took them out and put them in my Cuzinart air fryer and 7 minutes later I had golden brown fries. What did I do wrong or is this unit faulty?
Maybe they were too far from the heating element and maybe also stacked too deep? It seems awfully long for them to be uncooked. Do a test with a slice of bread. It should begin to brown fairly quickly.
@@PainttheKitchenRed Thank you.
did you first soak potatoes to wsh off the starch?? did you over fill basket? and as mentioned, you should have them closer to the element
Thank you for your clear video - much appreciated! I have a question about that silver flat insert (with no handles and no sides!) for the air fryer. It supposedly fits into a ridge in the taller air fryer insert. I have not yet found a way to remove it without #1: having the food all slip off into the larger insert, and #2: burning my fingers by holding the insert large holes in the centre. Who designed this? It's virtually impossible to use as it's designed to be used. So I've purchased (for $30!) a larger stainless insert (made by Instant Pot) that fits inside the air fryer insert. IT HAS A HANDLE TO LIFT IT OUT OF THE IP. IT ALSO HAS SIDES ON IT, SO THE FOOD DOESN'T SLIP OFF WHEN IT'S MOVED!!! I just don't understand what they were thinking when they made the flat insert! I mean, really! Anyone else frustrated by the poor design, or am I missing something?
Hi Ann-Marie, thank you for your comment and for sharing your solution. I agree, it is not the best design! I have found that using a pair of bamboo tongs allows me to lift the metal piece out.
Im doing the water test, is it normal for the steam to keep coming out for more than 5mins??? Im going on bout 8mins now....?😬
Hope it turned out okay. The more water you put in, the longer it takes to come to pressure.
Do you use water with all the top ones?
I'm not sure I understand your question, but the air fryer lid does not need water.
