    Outstanding video and the best overview with examples that I've seen. Had I not already been sitting here awaiting my Amazon delivery of this unit today, you would have convinced me to order it. My mouth is watering and I'm thinking about all the possible ingredients in my house right now! You more than earned my subscription and I look forward to your cookbook.

    I bought this air fryer Sept 2023 and started using it right away, with trepidation at first, having never owned one before ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB . But I started trying the different settings and yes, I burned a few things at first until I got the hang of it, and have loved using it ever since I got it. For a single person, cooking smaller-scale meals is great while avoiding heating up a whole oven. The only downside to this air fryer is that the buttons are finicky since they're touch-based and the sensors are weird. I'd buy this thing again if I needed to, but at this point (if I don't jinx myself) I won't have to for a while to come.

    OMG young man! I’m so glad I found your video. I’m a 73 yr old grandmother and just bought my first Instant Pot which just happens to be the Duo Crisp + Air Fryer. Your video is soooooo informative and answered so many questions I had. Additionally it took the little bit of fear I had away. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My 6 yr old granddaughter loves Mac and cheese so I can’t wait to try your recipe with the crunchy topping, to surprise her.

    Yogurt can be made on sous vide function. Set time and temp. Just made 1/2 gallon two days ago. 1/2 gallon milk warmed to 115°. Add Yogurt starter packet. Stir. Set to 105-112° for 8 hours. Cool for two hours. Fridge for 6 hours. Separate into containers. I add fruit, granola etc when I eat it but premix fruit for my kids and put into reuseable squeeze pouches for their convenience to grab some in the early morning.

    To those asking about the Mealthy lid (I still have no idea how to pronounce that name. Is it supposed to be a combination of "meal" and "healthy?" Does that mean I pronounce it meal-thee? mel-thee?). Anyway, months ago I asked for one to review and they said they didn't have anymore to send bloggers (okay...). While I was prepared to do an honest and fair review, I really had no need for it anyway, because I had a strong gut feeling Instant Pot would release their version. Now that Instant Pot has one, there is no way I'd consider a rather unknown brand - especially since The Duo Crisp's is top-notch, durably built, detachable and plugs directly into the device itself with no permanent lid attached to the device or a long chord to have to plug into the wall next to the pressure cooker itself. I also wouldn't be surprised if Instant Brands releases an air crisping lid superior to Mealthy's to place on existing Instant Pots. For me, it comes down to trust, and Instant Brands has it.

      The Mealthy uses a halogen bulb for heat. I think I'd rather have a heating coil like the IP has.

    Great video and review (very detailed)...Thank you, Jeff! I bought the Ninja Foodi about a year or so ago....I don't regret it, but I do not like the air crisp lid that can't be removed....I knew something would come along that would remedy that...However, I do love the Foodi non-stick liner....it is amazing... I originally started with the Instant Pot 6qt about 3 or so years ago and still use it a lot....I also like the Foodi and use it for recipes that need to be crisped or browned...without having to take it out of the pot....I like this new IP, but I can't justify buying it now, since I have the Foodi...Thanks again for the video and your channel..

    Great video, but just giving you a tip about your dog Don't lift dogs by the front legs or armpits like a baby because this can cause strain on their ligaments ,and spine, which can result in torn ligaments and even sprained shoulders or elbows. Your dog's front and hind legs are not intended as suspension devices, if You didn’t know you should always put your hands underneath your dog when you pick it up

    Thank you for demonstrating this! This is my first instant pot and when I saw the air frying addition, it only made sense to get this model for space saving. The instructions that came with it are pretty vague- probably assuming people have already had an instant pot before. I was wondering if I needed to put liquid in under the frying rack or not- so thanks for showing how to air fry! I’ve made a couple of things pressure cooking and wondered what the “L” meant at the end.
    Very nice demonstration and I’ll definitely try the Mac & cheese you just demonstrated!

    Quick tip for people missing the yogurt button on this...you can use the dehydrate button for fermenting to achieve the same results and use the saute button to get to the right temp to "boil" the milk. Take the liner out to cool in ice bath before mixing in the starter, then dehydrate will be used as the "fermenting" time. I am just not sure how long you can set the dehydrating time...so you may have to set it twice if needing an 18-24 hour incubation

    Was I ever so glad to see this most outstanding, positive, and inspiring video!! I'm a Vietnam Combat Veteran (flew B-52 D over Vietnam) with severe PTSD with related Depression/Anxiety issues. As a result of these things, I have lost everything; my family and my children. All I can do now is to try to survive. I bought my Instant Pot Duo-Air Crisp a couple of months ago. So far, I had only used it for its pressure cooking function, the simplest and easiest. This video showed me now how to "fill in the blanks" which I had been wondering about and wishing for. Now, if I can't do anything else good for myself, I will be able to feed myself to my heart's contentment!! What a blessing! Thank you so much Jeffrey, you have no idea what a difference you have made in my life. Thank you!

    Instant Pot also came out with just a straight fryer as well. I saw it for $119 at Wal-Mart. However, love the idea of having it be able to do both. Best of both worlds. Getting the air fryer capability beats out the bells and whistles of the Evo. If you want to add the air fryer capability, for just $46 extra, you get two appliances in one with an 8 quart capacity. Seems like a no brainer if you're in the market. I still have the yogurt function on my 6 qt.

Choose a speed above the word Normal, that's a good speed for 'you.' I do this VERY often with cooking channels, especially when I'm trying to get a recipe that doesn't have a link to a printed one! See if you can find it. I also use it when I want to save time, so I speed it up using the speeds below the word 'Normal.' You'll LOVE it! : )

    Outside of the removable lid, I don’t see a major advantage of this over the Foodi. And the fact that you have to dedicate counter space to that black circular protector so you don’t burn your countertop, to me, gives the better design award to the Foodi since it’s lid can’t be removed, won’t ever burn your countertop, yet is easily out of the way to use the pressure cook lid.

    • @ernestinegill2339

      For me removable lid is a game changer. When the lid is up it wouldn’t fit underneath my cabinets and I don’t have an island in my kitchen. I liked the Foodie but it just wouldn’t work in my kitchen. The duo crisp is perfect for me:)

      I too have the Deluxe Ninja Foodi and have seen comments both ways regarding the air fry / crimping top that is attached. To me its not an issue as no matter which lid I'm using, the device itself is pulled out from under the upper cupboards. (Made that mistake o ly once send was lucky the steam didn't do damage to the wood. I also appreciate how easy it is to lift the crisping lid to check or adjust my food as needed.

    Love your presentations, even though I'm Nijna Foodi Fan. You've answered most my questions here, and it's also interesting to see one of your 'selling' points about the separate lid for Air Crisping certainly could be looked at differently depending on someone's arm strength or where someone actually uses the device. I've now purchased 3 of your instant pot cookbooks for myself and two friends. So how long before you publish a new one to take advantage of the air crisp lid, for more excellent recipes like the Mac & Cheese you shared? The current recipe book is one of my favorites as you truly explain & have photos of the entire process. Thanks again for all that you Share.

      Really? Did you pay attention to the load of fat, in cheese and added butter in that recipe? It must be about 5000 useless and also unhealthy calories per serving! 😂😅

    You should use the Steam option or the lower pressure cooking option for things like sea foods, Fish, Shrimp, Shellfish and the like. Sea foods tend to be more delicate in texture and doesn't need a lot of temperature, time or pressure to cook it. It's very easy to over cook sea foods and the results of that is not very palatable at all, taste or texture-wise.

      Hi Sandra, I really don't know which one to get between the Duo Evo plus and the Duo crisp.. Since, you have tried both, which one would you recommend me? Is the duo crisp better than the duo evo? Is the dehydrator and air fryer worth it? Thank you very much

    • @sandradavis4359
      @sandradavis4359 4 роки тому +1

      mariapanama2 If you want the air fryer feature, get the Duo Crisp. The Duo Evo Plus has lots of great features, but you only have the pressure cooker features, the pot with the handles, sous vide, yogurt and bake. I wound up not getting the Duo Crisp. I got a 6 quart Viva (similar to a Duo Nova) and got the Air Fryer lid. The basket is not as big as the Duo Crisp, but it has a yogurt button, sous vide button and sterilize button. A great alternative if you want to air fry is to get the Duo Evo Plus and an Instant Vortex air fryer or one of your choice. .Let me know if you have further questions.

      lechatbotte same here. I don’t need another IP (already have 5) and I have no more room to store anything else. I am interested in that Mealthy lid though because my air fryer is on its last legs and it fits my IPs.

    • @bfontana1233
      @bfontana1233 4 роки тому +1

      the only thing about using the Mealthy is that you need to have a separate plug for that, which is no big deal "most times" but can be inconvenient in other times. I like this doesn't need a separate outlet. Also you can achieve the yogurt setting using the "dehydrate" button so that's no big deal not having it on the main console

    • @lizardas
      @lizardas 4 роки тому +4

      @@bfontana1233 When you use the Mealthy Crisp Lid, you don't have the IP plugged in. You only need to plug in the Mealthy.

    Did yours last after 4 uses? My first Duo Crisp stopped recognizing the air fryer lid after 4 uses. My warranty replacement worked twice and now is doing the same thing. It seems very poorly made if I received 2 having the same problem.

    Foodi must have a patent on the hinge. That 7 pound lid looks like a big bloated whale. No thanks. Also the pot is still the old replaced design. The Duo Evo Plus has the new pot and new pressure cook lid. I have one and a Foodi. Best of both worlds.

    Hi Jeffrey, just got our Duo Crisp. We have no clue how to use it! No real instructions with it. I finally found the manual online but it’s still not very complete. Can you please do more videos using it? Especially sous vide. One place I looked said 90 minutes for a roast. Another one said 18 hours!
    Thanks to you I’m very at home with pressure cooking but the other functions are a mystery to me. I have to say that unless I am missing a manual, Instant Pot dropped the ball on instructions with this model.
    Thanks!

    The display is probably simpler due to the air fryer. They'd have to program the more advanced display to work with the air fryer lid. So releasing it like this was probably faster to market.

    This is by and far the BEST video I have seen for this Instant Pot. I was really excited to use it and wanted to jump in and prep chicken breasts, but I have never used any Instant Pot and had a rough time finding just a simple video that could quickly and and efficiently tell me how to get up and running. This is the video I needed. Excuse me while I go re-heat fried chicken :D
