Thanks your video helped me. My machine is a GSXR1000K2 with 20000 miles on the clock, it symptoms were spluttering/sudden power loss at high speed throttle roll on. I thought the original plastic tea bag filter was done however I put it in the dishwasher and it cleaned out all the orange crud and finished up looking almost as new. But I replaced it a genuine part. I recently bought an additional used fuel pump assembly which I will service and hopefully use as a quick change backup in the future. I managed to remove and replace without removing the fuel tank. I struggled with the secondary black sealed housing/filter/syphon?! which was very difficult to clean but I managed to persevere and it finally flowed clean and so I refitted it without any problems, started first time. This item also contained a lot of the rust particles guzzled up from the very bottom of the tank. I treated the rust with loktite rust remover, let dry, then refilled with petrol and now my bike runs flawlessly. Thank you👍
This is the exact issue I’m having with my k11 gsxr 600. On full throttle by bike sputters violently. At a complete stop my bike stalls out. Starts back up but at a stop it stalls again. Is this fuel pump issue?
love this video. I have a lot of people asking me to help them &/or do the work for them. don't know why, Lol i taught myself by watching video like this and reading. Lol. Thanks bro
Since two days I have on my GSXR 750 k3 above 9000 rpm no Power. Feels horrible! Seen your video and I am highly motivated now to do a pump and filter cleaning. Thank you!
Happens the same on my k6 600! And used to happen on my other k7 600 back in the day! Arround 12.000 it just loses power and its unestable! Did cleaning the filter work for you?
@@suzukipower9330 having the same issue with my k7 750. Been scratching my head for months. No power after 11k revs. Did change the fuel filter tried injector cleaner. Bike is not restricted. Did you ever solve the issue? Checked forums no luck on my side.😢
It's 230am since your wondering what time of day and I'm drunk AF an my bike is completely apart. Awesome video helped me lots. I used evapo rust and vinigar BTW the combo worked great
So i got all my gas out of my tank right. But I can still hear a fluid and some debrees in that fluid sloshing around. I think its in between the lairs on the tank. Is it gas or condensation? I see a tube inside that looks like it goes to the ouaide of the tank with no cap could rain water have gotten inside the lairs via that metal tube?
Its not firing on the two outer cylinders. My tank is rusted to shit inside. I think the injectors are like totally clogged idk yet haven't got them out yet.
I got the same problem … rusty tank ! Now after GSXR 600 sitting it won’t start.. I changed the fuel pump cleaned fuel filter.. cleaned inside tank with some citrus cleaner I seen on video back in like 2018.. But rust is back.. bike only rode a few times a year, so I’m trying your method..20 - 10 mm bolts..vinegar.. then 2 stroke oil at the end .. I just hope the fuel injectors are not clogged .. bike was running a few months ago… but sit outside under a cover..So now it’s pull the tank and try this..Thanks for the good ideas on the video..
Whew…? It took me ALL day .. to take everything apart an clean the tank… 4 YEARS worth of rust built up! An getting the fuel filter tea bag out of the pump was a hour long challenge.. but after I had it cleaned an put back together.. got the heartbreaking sound of still not wanting to start… an was brand new battery .. but after all day of trying .. needed a little boost an I went got some fresh 89 octane gas an I tried again… an then heard a sound of life… prime the pump a few times then she fired up!!! And was running stronger than ever!!! Thanks for the video.. I actually was starting to think ( how am i going to get this bike to the repair shop ) thinking it wouldn’t ever run again… I believe I need a new set up tires … maybe four years if setting left flat spots .. but tires have tiny dry rot cracks .. so that’s a good excuse to buy a new set..
Used cleaning vinegar, and screws. Kept the vinegar in for two days and used a turkey baster to grab the rest of the fuel. How did you collect the little rust debris left over? I don't want to risk running extra debris through the fuel lines since the bike has been sitting. Thanks for the video, so helpful
I used a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol taped to a stick and it grabbed a bit more rust . I the end I decided to take the tank and get it lined just to be safe
So i used white vinegar 2 days then cleaned it out with pressure water and soap till clear then used baking soda then washed that out with pressure water then let it dry with air/heat . Whats next ? An i use wd40 to coat it then pressure wash it till its all cean and gone ?
That black plastic canister thing that the pump pushes gas through is the actual filter which builds up a ton of crap inside. Trying to clean it out is a real trick, lol
@@GilbertGardens I cleaned mine yesterday. Zx12r was running horrible with a load on it, but just fine in neutral. Good fuel pressure, but very low flow. Took the pump out, took that plastic piece and shook it real good, what poured out of one if the ports in it looked like straight rust water, mud, horrible... I made a really strong solution of Iron Out and used a hand pump to push it through the filter. Once I was happy there wasn't any air in the filter I let it soak for about 30 minutes in the solution... then blew it out with compressed air till it was nearly dry. Put it all back together, tested flow and got almost 4oz of fuel instead of the 1.5 I was getting before, right on spec... it completely fixed my bike. She tryna pick the front tire up going into 3rd now. It made so much difference having that filter unclogged and proper flow restored. Remember, even if you have good fuel pressure, that don't mean it also has good flow/output. Always check both.
In a different video a guy said if vinegar doesn't do it that citric acid is an option. I'll have to Google it. I'm doing this to mine in the next few days. Hopefully I can, I'm not really a mechanic, lol
From what I’ve read, there is a high pressure fuel filter and a low pressure fuel filter. Does anyone know where the one he did not touch is at??? Really need help
i did clean my gsxr 2004 fuel pump but the black filter did all the damage and you cannot clean it properly cause its sealed so i bypass it with external filter now runs so gooood !!!

Yes like you mentioned this is the serviceable filter the actual filter is stupid expensive cheaper to find a used assembly online. It cleaned up nicely.
I have the sock pre filter ordered, im wondering if i could submerge the plastic body in my ultrasonic cleaning machine & clean it out that way? As you said its $260-$275 for the “fuel filter”
@@tysoncott7402 im not too sure... I mean if you could run cleaning solution backwards out the pump you might get some of the debris out that way.. let me know if it works for you.

The hose that runs on the right side of the bike down near the oil tank and exhaust where does that go from the fuel tank
there should be a little breather nipple on the bottom of the tank that hose attaches to and runs down the bike. keep it away from hot stuff.
