Thanks for the shoutout! 😂 I agree with you on the King Ranch… nevermore… I also think OF got the message too. A couple of months after hand delivered that one, they began to sit on the shelf and the price dropped drastically and it still sat on the shelf.
Great video! These are fun to watch! Also, would it be correct to assume that the bottle on the fridge is a Barrell Cask Finish Series Amburana? I hear that one is pretty good…. The price just keeps me away. Again, great video! 🥃

I agree with buying KC12 year again as I did that myself. My never more that is on this list too is total wine store picks. $20 to $30 more vs regular offering and they seem to want a flavor profile that is so very off from the regular offerings of a distillery. I have a 1792 Full Proof TW pick and it’s borderline a drain pour.
Hey Dean! The Knob Creek 12 is one of the best values in bourbon! And you're right, there seems to be something off about Total Wine picks where it seems inconsistent most of the time.

I agree with your evaluations here. I got a bottle of Rare Character for Father's Day and I'm really impressed. And Smoke Wagon UCUF is an understated but fantastic blend of the coupe of bottles that I've had. Have you heard of Dark Arts? Not seen in the wild but I hear great things about them.

Good video. I'm sipping on the JD Bonded Rye watching this. I wasn't a fan of it first but it's opened up and real tasty now. I think I prefer it over the barrel proof rye, which is wild.

Great reviews. Pretty much agree with your assessments across the board. One exception: probably heresy but I've done multiple blinds including the KC12 and that bottle keeps coming out near the bottom. Seems a decent pour over a little ice, but maybe it's not designed for a neat blind. Maybe I have a slightly funky bottle.
Sometimes there are bottles that don't do great in blinds but is just a delicious pour everytime you have it? For me, that was Maker's Mark BEP. Did a review and I killed it. Blinds, never did well. But when I just sit down and have a pour without my "review "hat on? Absolutely enjoyed it. Maybe the KC12 is that kind of whiskey for you 😆.

Agree with the Jack BIB rye amazing cheaper pour! I got a nulu toasted rye pick (115.2) it’s out of this world good with nulu I’d stick to the toasteds
Interesting information regarding the nulu toasted. After being burned by the other bottles, I have not looked too much until them lately but will try to find a pour of the toasted Nulu's with your recommendation 👍.

Love this series David. Just finished my KC 12 and will definitely buy again, maybe not right away. Regarding the Smoke Wagon, had the small batch and then got the Uncut for a good price at Costco but found I liked the SB better. So, I can save some $ next time. Thanks for the great content, cheers!
Hey Keith! Smoke wagon small batch is a good one as well and it's proof down just slightly to 100 so it beings out even more sweetness and smoothness 😋. It's a great choice and saving money is always nice 😆

Same here, one of a few I always keep stocked with a backup. I have the KC 18yr as well.. It's fantastic but for me I just can't justify the 3x price point over the 12yr

Found this one interesting. I have not tried a majority of these bottles. I do agree with the Knob Creek 12, it’s one of my favorites. I am interested in the Little Book vol. 8 for this year. I have heard some good things but doubt I’ll find it.

Agree with most of your analysis. I am a big Barrell fan. I really liked the New Year 2024 and found another. I am fortunate that the County controlled stores near me put Barrell on sale for half price last December. I bought several. Barrell bourbons are a deal for half price.

I'm with you on the Nulu's. I always past them up at Total Wine when they're $80+. My local Grocery Outlet had the Bourbon, Rye and Double Oak for $40 each. To be honest, $40 is that fair price for me. I go back forth with finished whiskeys if they justify the price. I guess that is the reason why we hunt.
Great on the Barrell NYE, I guess the only time to really pick it up is at Costco in December. One of these years I'll buy it just for my New Year opening bottle =)
Nulu's at $40 is absolutely worth the price so that was a great buy! Barrell New Year's is a good pour and something you should get "one-time" to celebrate the new years for sure 😆. I did my "one-time" so I'll move on to the next Barrell bottle.

Nice bottles! Knob Creek 12 yr is a keep on buying! Little Book Chapter 7 is awesome and I have a back up! Little Book Chapter 8 I just picked up a bottle Friday and it’s really nice with a high rye spice!

I had a pour of #8 Friday night and a little pour just a few minutes ago. It’s very heavy Rye flavor and a lot of Rye spice so far, maybe it will calm down in a few weeks! So far I’ve had #5, #7, and #8 I think 5 is pretty decent, 7 is so awesome I found a backup and 8 is really nice so far. I’m going to send you an email soon and we can discuss what pours you might want to try that I have. Cheers
Just went through my first Barrell bottle (Vantage) and I think it’s a must have on my shelf at all times, it’s just too tasty.
I agree that Barrell Vantage is a great one and a bottle I probably will buy more once I finish mine (tune in to the next one to find out 🤣).

Kc9 is also a wonderful bottle as I do go to it when I want that intense flavor and proof 😆. Too bad early times is hard to find here in California 🥲.

I agree, chapter 6 was just a bad bottle. But they sure did make it up with the chapter 7 and apparently chapter 8 is better 😆.

Great list and I agree with all of your assessments. Nulu overpriced for what you get. I really like the Barrell New Year 2024, but agree there are so many other options. I just cracked open the Barrell batch 036…very good initial pour. I have a Rare Character Single Barrel Bourbon that is fantastic. Smoke Wagon Uncut and Unfiltered…would rebuy it, but no other Smoke Wagon. Little Book 7 was awesome and I hear 8 is supposed to be the best one. 🥃

Nice video and great review! Knob Creek 12 is definitely a buy again for me, I also like Russel’s Reserve Single Barrel and so it’s in the list for me. Two bottles that I loved but will pass on: Old Forster 1924, I loved this bottle but I’ll pass just because of the price point. I also loved John J Bowman Single Barrel, but it does not offer a unique experience for me, it is pretty much aligned with Buffalo Trace profile, so I rather explore new stuff for the money, or get me a EHT single barrel instead (I know JJB SB is a VA one, but the distillery owned by, and uses Buffalo Trace’s high rye mash bill). I’m with you on the finished bottles. Thanks again!
I love the russell's reserve single barrel as well and agree with you on the Old Forester 1924 as I have one but won't buy another one at these prices.

Not a finish guy on most I certainly will not buy anything with Ambrauna or any of the super sweet finishes. Now I do enjoy the Bardstown rye finished in cherry wood staves and the port finishing on some other bottles. But Rum is way out for me also. And some of these other bottles are just too pricey for my wallet. As far as KC I prefer the single barrel honestly. But still good list. Enjoy!!

I also do like my knob creek single barrel but there are times I do want to proof down slightly and just enjoy a pour that is sweet, oaky, and delicious and KC12 hits the spot 😋.

Great video. My NEVERMORE would be Starlight Cigar Blend finished in Amburana, Booker's (too high to end up with a bad bottle), Baker's 13 (Baker's 7 is better). BUY MORE would be Russell's Reserve Private Selections, Crittenden's Cut Above Double Oaked, & Barrell Bourbon Batch 35 and up.🥃
Great list! Surprised at the baker's 13 vs 7. I have been saving my baker's 13 for a review video (that never got made 🤣). Maybe it's time to open it up and try it for myself 😆. I agree in the Starlight Cigar Blend, not for me as well.

I’ve never grabbed any of the Nulu bottles because of the high price as well, but then Grabbed Little Book Ch7 a few weeks ago, but had to pay $200 for it 😬

Totally agree with the Austin sentiment and your take on Magnus. At 60 or 70 it would def be a must buy and back up. I haven't backed mine up because by me it's $100+. The Murray Hill is $20 more. As good as these bottles are I gotta pass on them for now. Cheers

Hmmm... I'll need to get a pour of it somehow. I do like rum finished whiskeys so it seems it'll be something I like but nulu has burned me too many times before 😆. But I'll certainly consider it when I see it 👍.

showing bottles of Smoke Wagon from 3 years ago is a poor representation and Smoke Wagon has gone to crap for over 2 years now just like Joseph Magnus has. It's not the same any more and both are just living off their past. A lot of people know this now and have moved on. It's what i call Belle Meade syndrome. it was good and then turns to meh after they have fan boys hooked. FACTS !!!
You're right in that both were different in the past and maybe even better but they are still worth buying. I do have more recent batches of both bottles that are open and still enjoy them. It's unfortunate we can't go back in time (for a lot of things 🤣) to get the older batches so let's enjoy the ones we can get 👍.

@@WhiskeyBank I am not a lawyer and I cant remember the video I was watching that mentioned the subject but essentially you have to have a liquor license otherwise you have to allow everyone (who's over 21) access to enter the giveaway... Your patreon is essentially paid access to get into the giveaway... every state is completely different, Id check with someone more knowledgeable on the subject!

$40 for 1920?! I'd buy a case. Smoke Wagon UCUF is $79 here, never tried it. Have you seen that Smoke Wagon is adding the 'Desert Colt' it's the cask strength version of 'The Younger' for $39.99. It's on sipwhiskey right now with 10% off sitewide for Father's Day weekend, thinking about getting it.
