For me JDSBBP and the rye version are some of the best and most consistent products on my shelf. Even though they are single barrels and their proof vary, they are so consistent which really speaks to JD’s expertise. They are better than many bourbons I have that cost two to three times as much. I do like ECBP but they vary so much you could think they were different brands entirely.
I'll be able to kinda do a version of this. I picked up an ECSBBP Private Barrel store pick 2 days ago $79. I have a friend bringing up a Total Wine curbside from Dallas; it has a JDSBBP in it. Thanks for another fun and informative video 🥃❤️🥃
7:14 I frequently get pineapple from barley whisky, especially Laphroaig 10, which is very fruity underneath the peat, especially pineapple. I've never gotten pineapple from anything where the primary grain wasn't barley. 11:19 Josh is doing Parliament/Funkadelic. 🙂
Erin, I am 100% here for your evolving relationship with whisky. You are, to my eyes, getting more exacting and less fuzzy about what you do and don’t prefer Ina glass.
A good excuse to pull out my bottle of A122…it’s been a minute. Josh…love the Worcestershire nosing note…that is super-useful. Erin…always there for The Cranberries. David S.
It's interesting. In NY where I am at, both are available for the 70 mark. I have a bottle of the C923 which is fantastic. But after that bottle hit Minnick's top 100, it jumped to over 200 in places or simply disappeared.
So hard to beat JD SiBBP at $60ish, and you can find it almost anywhere. I typically get chocolate chip banana bread on the nose, and most of the same on the palate though with far less chocolate.
JD BP is good for the price & what it is, a low age whiskey that is very sweet forward, rounded & no oak/wood (likely due to the low age). I think the process used to make JD, passing it through 10ft of burnt maple chips, is very similar to double oaked KY whiskey. Both those methods give the whiskey an extra chance to pick up the wood sugars, but not enough time to get the deep oak flavors out of the wood, as you typically taste in 8+yr KY bourbon.
My last bottle of JDBP was disappointing. I've had numerous prior bottles, that were excellent. It was very dry, astringent, and lacked any sweetness. 😢 👎
Haha. Probably so! I just have never been thrilled with them, especially for the price!!! Let’s take a $90 shot 3x a year and hope you get a decent one. You aren’t the first channel that ECBP didn’t blind well recently. I’m just saying I don’t know why it gets the hype (C923 excluded). Compare that with your #1 choice. It is consistently great. Are there some that are better, sure. But it isn’t a gamble on quality. My 2 cents. Great show guys!
That's more than fair. ECBP is typically a bit nutty and that's simply not for some people. For us, it's iffy and has to be implemented in just the right way to be great. Most ECBPs to us are decently good, more so me than Erin, and a few batches here and there are downright great. We hear you on a $90 gamble though, especially if the profile doesn't jive with your palate.

I love that JD BP. Luckily my local stores always have cases of it on the shelf. ECBP is impossible to find around me.
Erin: Can we get ice cream?
Also Erin: This is too sweet!
🤷🏻♂️🤣
😂 😂 definitely going to call her out on this!
JD SBBP was the first high proofer I really liked and it remains one of my favorites. I’m glad they’re always available in my area.
Guys, it's hard to beat JD SBBP ! It's a great whiskey
The classic battle. The answer is "Yes"... Good point about pricing because in a lot of places those are equally priced.
Love both these bottles. Great match up! Cheers for another great video 🍻

I love seeing a reviewer say too sweet. I know I can go buy it and be very happy.
Great stuff guys cant wait to experience nashville middle of next week

ECBPs continue to be my jam but I’ve had some JD BP single barrels that rival some of the best ECBP batches.
JDSBBP is easily my favorite on the shelf BP bourbon. Stupid good

Love this. Both great. But JD SBBP just continues to deliver and hold up with the best of them!

Never had Elijah Craig but the Jack Daniels barrel proof is delicious.. Great on hot chocolate also haha

Erin has me cracking up singing😂😂
Both great bottles!
I'm with Erin on the root beer thing . In fact, I can't think of a soda that is sweeter tasting than root beer
Good stuff
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
They're about the same price in my market
Root beer sweet > co-cola sweet
Fun one!
Spicy water. Yeah. That’s some classic internet right there.
JDSBBP FTW!
If you drink enough scotch Erin, pineapple is a note you will come across from time to time.
My last bottle of JDBP was disappointing. I've had numerous prior bottles, that were excellent. It was very dry, astringent, and lacked any sweetness. 😢 👎
Always a bummer when you’re on the short end of single barrel roulette.
Can I get a witness?!? 😂
make my funk the P-Funk or the malted barley funk
Looks like Josh has a bit more in glasses compared to Erin's.
Erin prefers to drink less so I pour her less from the sample jars.
Erin, next time sing Zombie to stretch your vocal chords 😂
🎶 🎵 gotta let it linger 🎶 ;)
So, let’s keep how awesome JDBP is so not doesn’t become allocated, lol 😂
Rick Grimes drinks bourbon!
Stagg and msrp chime in
ECBP still sucks. Not surprised. Continues to prove my point that if that juice was in a different bottle… no one would buy it.
That’s a wild statement!

2 of my favorites!!! Like that I can get JD at any time.
Holy Ghost? Are you "religious"? Dont answer. Ive stopped watching
Not very religious, but I am a man of faith.
We need a shirt that says I Quote "Mind juice in your brain" Quotes by Erin LOL
RIP Dolores.🫂
