l LOVE this video! Thank you for the content. l've spent the last year venturing into Bourbon and Rye whiskey. Right now, l've got 3 staples: 1) Virgin 101 Bourbon, 2) Benchmark Full Proof & 3) Wild Turkey Rye 101 - each are fantastic neat. l can't find a better-tasting Rye than WT - l do not like Jack's SiB-BP. Virgin is an absolute MONSTER for under $20 - especially as a mixer. Benchmark's lineup is really good other than their base #8. l host a fair few gatherings and dinner parties. So far, l've never had anything but positive feedback about my spirits. Never had a single complaint. Spending more money doesn't mean you're getting a better bourboun.
My man still had his knee sleeves on. Glad I’m not the only one who hits legs at the gym, then goes bourbon hunting. 🤣🤣 I would have gone with quality over quantity. 1-2 bottles for cocktails, 1-2 crushable sippers, and a mid tier bottle for special occasions to start. As their pallet progresses, then they could get into pricier stuff.
I prefer the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad over the 114, even though it costs less. Early Times 100 proof and Coopers' Craft 100 proof are worth trying. For a wheater I go to 51 percent wheat with the 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey, more for summer.
Nicely done. The one thing that jumped out to me was maybe swapping out the Chattanooga for the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select. Probably about the same price and if it’s for a tasting, most are familiar with the Old #7 and may be surprised by the profile they experience. 👍
One place I see from the highway all the time but never stopped at. After going to Union Wine and Bourbon House based on one of your videos, looks like I'll be checking this place out also.
@@johncloud8161 you’re right, just checked OHLQ. Interesting, because just a year ago it was labeled as a “Kentucky Only” bottle and I have only seen it while hunting in KY. I wonder when it changed, thanks for the heads up, John! Cheers
Haven’t had Minor Case before but that price is quite higher than the rittenhouse. Cheer McGolf! I will have to check out Minor Case because I love Limestone distillery!
I will Fight you. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is Not Bourbon. They think they are too good to be called a bourbon. When they start printing it on their Labels as a bourbon instead of being too cool and bragging about being a Tennessee Whiskey. Why do you defend them. Jack Daniel’s doesn’t want to be called a Lowly bourbon 🥃. If someone tells you who they are Believe Them.
What is the one bottle you haven't tried yet?

Good choices! I’m a huge fan of the Old Pepper BiB, better than the decanter.
I haven’t had the BiB yet but I do enjoy the decanter! Going to have to give it a go! Cheers Robert!
Tried most of them, liked many, loved few. Once I tasted my favorite pour, I knew I had to work for the distillery.

The old Forester 100 proof rye 23 bucks at kroger last time at my local store and the Green River is a great choice
That Old Fo 100 Proof Rye is good too! Cheers Kev!

When bourbon hunting, we don’t worry about taxes, so you did pretty good.
Then I will call it a win! Haha cheers, Mauricio!
Been in there, first time in 83, very good place, so is the Liquor Barn just down the street, and no need to tell you about the Party Source.
Cheers 🍻
I always wanted to check that store out, but always go to The Party Source. May need to hit it next trip. 🥃
Definitely stop in and tell them I sent you 😜 Overall, great prices IMO
I have 7 out of 8 bottles. Whoop whoop!
@@algordon4070 wooot woot! The Boulder the only one you don’t have??
That is definitely a great starter kit for a new bar. Good choices 👌

That’s a good sub there! Cheers Stymie!
Agreed the JD single barrel is my go to
That’s a hell of a price on the JB single barrel.
That store was filled with crazy goodies. I’ll definitely have to try to make a trip down there. Great video on the tasting budget!
Thanks Johnny! Yes! Check it out and let me know what you think 🥃👊🏽

Was there last week, the cashier was super nice to let me buy a bottle buffalo trace using her own reward points. Got lot of good selections.
@@commonsense4950 oh wow! Thats awesome! They are great people over there!

Thanks my man! Cheers! 👊🏽
You mentioned the Old Bardstown being Kentucky only, but is also currently available across the river in Ohio

Nice picks.
Thanks! Cheers! 🥃👊🏽
Great picks. Penelope would be the one I would trade out
What else would you go for instead? Cheers RJR!
I hit up that same “Uncorked” all the time
@@jakedobbs9962 nice! You cash in on points yet??
Great variety. And I would not count the tax as part of the challenge, personally (Bourbon Math), so you were only 5 dollars over.
I like your thinking, Scotty! Cheers!
“Let’s change the category to $300”……gotta love bourbon math😂😂
Hahaha could be $275 lolol
Minor case would do you better for a started rye

lol yeah 🤣 happened in my Colorado hunt too! 🤣
Jts brown if you know you know

Is that a 1.75 pirate bottle up top?!
Hahaha in not sure! I’ll have to go back and check. They have a lot of cool stuff there! Cheers Andy!
I haven't been to uncorked in years, i need to get back down there. What was the price on that Coy Hill?
MSRP but you have to have like 2,000 points.
@whiskey_weather that's really not terrible, especially if you're close
Are those leg warmers??? @1:35
Haha knee sleeves from the gym! I came straight from working out 🤣 cheers Pete!

Facts
They qualify as a bourbon. Sorry
Bourbon is dependent on the mash bill being at least 51% corn. That's all. If the mash bill is 51% corn. It's bourbon. Sorry JD
You bought a bunch of ass whiskey.. this is good if you just wanna get drunk. You could have bought 4-5 bottles of good shit instead.
