I absolutely enjoy watching the videos about Ruby's Revival.
Glad to hear it. I’m working on about 6 different things for Ruby right now (finishing subfloor, new windows, experiments with recreating the exterior lights, fake chrome, wheel wells, new door locks, even building a screen door!) so we’re going to have lots more content very soon. I’m trying to create more shorts for the channel so people can see what’s coming for longer episodes.
Finally a Ruby update!!
Haha yes! Told ya it was coming, but this was a real challenge to edit! We're going to be renting a truck again this weekend, so I hope we have another update SOON!
Love the trailer
CONGRATULATIONS on the big (and successful) move for Ruby. I cant wait to see what's in store for her next.
In a word: POLISHING!!! We did some experimenting this past weekend and shared some sneak peeks on IG. But we're hoping to do a pressure washing/polishing video so you can see how it went! It won't be the "long term" (aka multi step mirror finish) polishing yet, but we saw a huge difference so we want to get Ruby looking a little better on the outside before we begin our interior demo.
Good stuff!
Awesome!
Great video. Can't wait to see how this all turns out. It's a big job but I know you will put the Ugly Duckling touch to it and make it an amazing home away from home.
Thanks Mom ❤️
Thank you for updating us on Ruby. We also live in Georgia, and we are remodeling a 1946 Spartan Manor. I can't wait to see what you have in mind for Ruby.
That's so cool! I have tons of ideas and probably more than one camper can hold. We just tried some pressure washing and polish today, so I can't wait to share results!
Also: Where in GA??
We live in Franklin, about an hour SW of the airport. West of Newnan.
Oh wow! That's actually closer to me than Ruby was when we went down to retrieve it. 😂 Small world!
Very long wheelbase for a single axle trailer. I would love to rebuild an early 1960’s s Shasta trailer like my parents had when I was a kid.
This is so EXCITING!!!
Totally agree! We were so nervous moving out of that lot!
Thank you. Im so excited to see how she turns out.
I have so many ideas! It's going to be a lot of fun to start demo.
Yep, using a floor jack to move the tongue end works good though ya gotta be pretty careful. I turned around a 55' MH that way but because my vehicle was on sand, I had to use a hand Come-a-long. Was slow but got it! Also, the word CAMPER referring to trailers must be new as I've always known it to mean the camper on a pick-up bed.
The terms seem to be used interchangeably these days (not to mention they can differ by how you grew up referring to it, like soda vs coke vs pop). I use both so people can find the video. Turning this thing around was so nerve-wracking but I’m glad we only had to do it once!
@@UglyDucklingHouse Good point! I grew up in So. Cal and it's shorter to say "Camper" than Camping trailer. If we just call it a trailer, then there are car & cargo trls. to confuse it with. If the word might be metamorphosing in my area, then it makes more sense to me. Good video!
Thanks! Now that we’re moving we’ll have even more time to dedicate to this reno so I’m excited about new episodes dropping soon! Thanks for watching.
Awesome stuff! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks bud!
Ruby rolls! Yay!
check out a channel called Curiosity Incorporated, he has a series on an old Airstream he found in a field. He put a mirror finish on that thing, The series is called Airstream Dreams
Will do, thanks so much for the info!
A diamond in the rough for sure. The "too long to legally park where we live" is why I like living where I do. It is semi-rural and outside of any city limits and no HOA in sight. I can park whatever I want in my driveway for however long I want. I can even park it out in the yard if I so choose. Nobody can see my yard without trespassing so the only potential complainers would be some pencil-pusher with nothing better to do than scour over satellite images trying to find something to pester people with.
We don't have an HOA, but it's the city laws that prevent us because we'd otherwise have to have a gravel or concrete pad (and we aren't willing to make it that level of long term). We're sort of close enough to the city to enjoy city living but without an HOA to be on our backs. TBH, I don't think my neighbors would actually call it in if it were parked for a long time, but we just don't want to be those kinds of neighbors, especially with the grace they show me with all of the DIY and power tool craziness that I regularly have going on!
Hello from Columbus GA, Great Job!
Hi Todd! Thank you for watching!
Just a suggestion... should you run into another situation like the VIN number where you really have to have an answer, a phone call or email to Flyte Camp in Bend Oregon is well worth your time. They've restored Spartans and could be a wealth of knowledge to you. They've actually had a TV series recently on GAC channel.
Great to know, thank you!
Best of luck from Australia. You look like nice people and dog lovers, so things should go well for you.
Retro vans are getting popular here too but there are only a few brands that were built with polished aluminium bodies in the 1950s. You might like to google Carapark Australia.
Will do and thank you! We love our pups! We took them with us on these last few trips to work on Ruby, so they will have a few cameos in the next few videos as supervisors. 😂
I'm gonna be following this one! I've been getting watching tons of vehicular camping lately and think I've caught the bug. I can't wait to see your renovation lead to some outdoor adventures down the road. I'm curious, what size truck is required to pull Ruby? Am I right that Kyle's jeep is to small, or with some upgrades, could it handle it?
It's a lifted Jeep, so it wouldn't be good for the suspension. A standard truck with a tow package could handle it. I want to replace our vehicles with a hard top Jeep and a truck and have both be able to handle the trailer if we need.
Got it.🤣🤣🤣 aye right you Muppet
I know where a dozen or so of these are..
That’s awesome, are they just left or does someone own them all?
