I like this idea of keeping the RIBs under cover. Yes, it's designed for stealth, but it also means that maintenance can be carried out in the warm and dry, and not outside in the rain.
Well we already have LSD's so a covered "Dock" is nothing new

The armament is pretty similar to the German K130 class corvettes.
Those have one 76mm main gun, two 27mm machine cannons, two RIM-116 rocket launchers each with 21 missiles as CIWS and four RBS-15-MK3 surface-to-surface missiles against ships and land targets.
Optionally they can also lay mines.
My money's still on the Visby Class corvette... really fast and very well-armed stealth corvettes, almost the same size as this one...
Philippine Navy should buy these, these is a well armed vessels perfect for anti terrorist ops and China

This is a similar class and concept to the new British River Class patrol vessels. I can't help but think the Americans have done a better job. Then again we don't all have the massive budget the USA does. Good job they're our allies.

Even us kiwis operate sh2 I class seasprites armed with penguin missles. And have a ice strenghthened hull for Antarctic waters and sea state 6.
And cranes, Vertrep capable, holds up to a platoon level of soldiers. This ship is toast in those rough seas.
Yes, I agree. Remove the anti-ship missiles and the rear ramp systems. Install a mini VLS with 4-6 Penguins and short range anti-sub rockets, expand the side RHIB to fit two 7 meter instead on one ( the second could be on a track system to slide it into launch position) on either beam. Keep the forward weapons arrangement. This will give this vessel a better multi mission capability and deploy a platoon of marines instead of two squads.
US should just buy what other countries are using. Ships get a lot cheaper when they are bought in bulk. Once the USA is involved well over 100 Ships can be built and watch the costs fall though the floor.

Came here because I saw in another video that the US has 27 corvettes under development. I know they had no operational corvettes before and when I asked why, I was told the US didn't need corvettes. Now I see they are developing them. Hope they will have blue water capabilities.

It looks like a reduced size Freedom-class LCS. The last ship I remember having a telescoping hangar was the Knox-class frigates with the LAMPS Mk1 helicopter (Kaman SH-2 Seasprite).
Very much so, 30m shorter and up gunned. Makes you wonder what they are giving up.
These would be good coast guard cutters. The lack of sams and limited asw capability wouldn't be necessarily a problem for a cutter.

Technically it is the patrol frigate version of the cutter, with vls and other improvements in electronics and weapons systems.
Looks kinda like the freedom. Looks good. If they can put at least 8x1 (I think thats the MK56) , two rows. What class is this?
truly what the USA needs a faster, leaner, more agile fighting ship.
To be honest I think that our surface combatants are fast enough, I just think that secondary armaments could be good against small attack craft fielded by nations such as Iran, also if rail gun tech becomes viable, I think that the reintroduction of a fast battleship is a good idea

I like the rolling frame launcher, too bad Canada did not put one on our AOPS. At least wire the thing so it can easily be bolted on if needed to be.

EI36 it would be better to invest in a proper frigate I think instead of a corvette like this which is called a patrol ship for some reason but I am not an expert

Actually it looks like a smaller version. I would add some 30 foot on the stern as the way I see it the weapons on the foscle is to get very wet on sea.

Looks like a scaled down LCS. Great design. Only thing I don't prefer is keeping the CIC and bridge in the same compartment.

The only thing I see wrong is no ships wheel. The US Navy has found more accidents are caused because there is no "wheel" and that the lack thereof is a major contributing factor.

This is not a US Navy vessel, it is built by a private shipyard in Louisiana and can be exported to any navy that is on the approved list established by Congress. (Sorry Iran, North Korea, Cuba; NO BOAT FOR U!)
Bangladesh Navy's 6 OPV tender should be appropriate for this.
This is a sweat ship. The size seem to b as small & cheap as u can get & still land a helo(big advantage). The slide out hangar is very cool. It has ram air def & a 76mm big boy. These seem the perfect fit for there patrol, resuce, & port def. How it is to work on them may b a diff story. The 3 ribs design is brilliant. It it had some kind of domed radar & elev tower it would b perfect. These would sell, every 1 could use these unless they decided to go just a little bigger w/the Corvetts. If a war broke out & the scope of duties increased to sub, sonar( saab attack) & 150 mile range, I think it would need to b the large class. So u hve 2 way cost & # of boats against needing more Frigates then. It u hve a lot of coast like us & Australia I think they r great. But if u hve a lot of sea & ocean work & small navy the class is a compromise. This is as close as u can cut it & hve the helo & underway refueling. I like the class & think w/all the bells & whistles & weapons these can count more toward the Navy & less just patrol.

Sure looks like the Lockheed-Martin Freedom class LCS. As commented earlier, both vessels are very UNDER armed.
Good enough for OPV. And suitable for escort duty.
The LCS might survive if they keep speeds under 30 knots.
@@dwwolf4636 Not even escort duty. The old Fletcher class was the same size, but better armed. The Freedom class doesn't even have adequate crew for safe watch standing during peace.

Interesting video. Missing is whether corvette has any sonar and ASW capability and unknown how strong super structure and hull is to RPG attacks if ship is used in anti piracy role. Also what is range or endurance of this corvette?
The helo should have a sonar that can be deployed by cable and air dropped torpedoes torpedoes.
Please tell me it is not completely Aluminium. If it is then the bridge, gun control station and engine spaces are armored to at least 40mm API shells. If not the thing is one strafing run or concealed auto cannon away from being a flaming wreak. Pretty boat but pretty does not stop incoming.

It's absolutely mind boggling how naval ship builders have forgotten the devastation of ship damage and destruction when building these flimsy surface combatant ships of to day that can't take more then one or two hits before having to abandon or even sink the ships of today. Look at history folks... the ships damaged during both world wars that's what you need to remember when building these new surface combatants. .
There's plenty of video demonstrations of modern decommissioned ships being used as target practice and they can take quite a beating from modern missiles that didn't exist in WW2. Ships are far more sturdier and more well built now than WW2 that were not built to survive against Guided Anti Ship Missiles and only had to deal with less tonnage dumb bombs. Modern Offensive Arsenal are now far more powerful and have larger range than the ones in WW2, no such thing as a battleship to battleship showdown that's suicide. Modern and powerful guided missiles as well as modern torpedoes can destroy ships from thousands of miles away. Truth is no matter how heavy the armor is, it doesn't matter when it's penetrated by a missile or a torpedo. Speed is more important than armor, a heavy and slow ship is a sitting duck just look at the Yamato and Musashi. You can just slap powerful missiles on a Patrol Boat and that thing is a threat to any surface combat ship already.

Looks good. Like the helo deck w/ribs under. Also....nice you went with the 76mm gun rather than the puney 6 pounder that seems to be on everything.....including 450' frigates!!!! Put the 5" on frigates, the 6 pounder on FAC's and develope a NEW 7" lightweight gun for the Burke size NATO ships. A gun where the shell actually weighs something, even if it's a ramjet or rocket assist shell with a reduced bursting charge w/60+ mile range!

1:05 its not really 360 degree coverage when lin of sight is blocked on the bow section.
Great Ship concept but if that's for the US they need to up-grade the weapons systems some but if its for export they can keep the cheaper weapons on because not all countries have the same amount to spend on expensive weapon systems!
How do they need to upgrade? RAM CIWS is considered the best current defences, though they plan to be replaced harpoons are perfectly effective anti-ship missiles; still in use widely across the USA.

Would feel better with a 5" lightweight mount up forward, but the 76mm is still better than that pos 56mm.
I think you're referring to the 57mm Bofors. The 76mm Oto Melara is a very capable system, weighs a lot less than the 5 in. and has less deck penetration.

The 57mm, that's the one. On a ship that is the size of a WWII Fletcher class destroyer that had 5 5/38 single mounts on board. The lightweight 5/54 is the match for all 5 and weighs less than 1 of them. Would not be a problem on an LCS. Oh, and the new LCS will be changed to FF.
The ability to launch "chafe" at the enemy is a major advance in seaborne offensive discomfort!

If this has anti-sub, this would be fitting for the Southeast Asian Sea...esp when equipped with Sea Ceptors or any similar soft-launch air-def SR/MR SAMs

Place the surface 2 surface launchers in the 2 wells, better stealth. Smaller decoy launchers outside. Side cut-outs for triple torpedo launchers each side. 1 boat at rear, other side dunking sonar. Like to put a Phalanx on top of hanger, but that's 4+ tons high up on ship??

i love how the writing shows the forward gun as a 76 mm when it is clearly a bofors 57mm in the picture.....
OTO Melara 76 mm, actually it is pretty clear.
It also nice if they can add torpedos for anti submarine or the Saab company product I forgot the name I'm sorry which is shot like a gatling gun 4 units, 2 on each side that has a 32 rounds that is shot if a submarine is spotted. The mortar type has a magnetic tip that will stick to a submarine if it passes to it and explode. It can be reloaded manually with in 8 minutes. If does not a torpedo for anti submarine that Saab product is the best substitute since its way cheaper and can be easily reloaded. If they have it in this boat model then this is suitable for Philippine navy. Cheaper but complete package and very deadly.
