    Having served with the Swedish Navy for a year, this is my points from this video:
    1. Air defense was intended from the start but was cut due to costs.
    2. The helicopter-deck with the helicopter on defeats the whole purpose of the ship, being stealth. Only when the chopper is gone and the transmitter is removed, the ship is stealth.
    3. The stealth-capabilities are far from 100% altho much better then most conventional ships. More modern radar will have easier time picking up the signature.
    4. Reloading the ship missiles requires the ship to enter a dock, and the process itself is very cumbersome as the missile launchers are integrated into the structure itself.
    5. The cost for this type of ship is very high, one could debate whether or not it would be better to upgrade several of the existing older models instead of constructing new ones. For Sweden, i would argue quantity is more important.
    6. 3:00 The bridge is truly amazing with a 360 degree angle of view, something which lacked on the older models (usually they had about 270 degree view angle)
    7. 3:51 The CIC was highly classified while i was serving. It was strictly forbidden to take photos and visiting relatives were not allowed inside. And i served on a warship constructed in 1985 (HMS Stockholm). With that in mind i find it boggling that everyone on UA-cam gets a first hand sightseeing of the technology used aboard the most modern ship in the Swedish Navy.
    8. 5:50 The kitchen is the most important place on the whole ship.

      2. Yes, that is why they don't have a helicopter as standard, but it's more so that one can land there if needed. The deck is not really designed for holding a helicopter permanently either and when one was sent abroad with a helicopter along it had to be modified to make the helicopter more safe.

      It's pretty insane they cut the air defense due to cost! Debatably air defense is even more important than the anti-ship missles if they still have torpedos... I mean not even a CIWS?!? 🤯

    • @johan.edlund
      @johan.edlund 10 днів тому +5

      @@HealTheWorldasapThe 57 mm gun is quite good at air defence, it is a development of the 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun used during WW2. Also, combining stealth and air defence is a challenge since you can detect a ship sending out radar signals with passive sensors at a much greater distance than you can detect another ship with radar.
      From a cost perspective they were not that bad, just a little more expansive than the finnish Hamina class missile boats.

      for a combat ship, it doesn't have much weaponry... so if you call that coffeemaker state of the art equipment and feel envy, man oh man, I wonder if you ever served on a real warship, any combat vessel has those weapons, whatever it's job, it lacks firepower and so is nothing to be jealous for
      stealth on ships is overrated, there is a reason the US abandoned the idea after 3 proto types, still Zumwalt has it's uses as a platform to test new tech, eventually they'll be putting it full of missile tubes, even long range hypersonic ones, and that's a failed project ! but is still better and has more potential then this toy

      On top of that Sweden has ordered 2 brand new ships ( work name Visby 2,0 ) that are going to be bigger and more heavy armed so they can be more efficient in offshore waters. Even if they say it’s a brand new corvette most naval people say it’s actually a Frigate.
      So the “old” Visby will still be a costal ghost with SAMs doing what it’s designed to do, namely hide in the Swedish archipelago ( 200 000 ) islands.

    the corvette is a small ship type, and one would think that it would be equipped with a rather limited range of equipment, but it seems that this warship is designed to act in a rather multifaceted manner, with anti-ship guided missiles, torpedoes, flight decks, etc. It is quite different from the Taiwanese Navy's Tuo Chiang-class corvettes, which are also stealth corvettes but specialize in anti-ship combat.

    Showed us most of the ship and how it's organized skillfully .... but am still wondering why the trail of steam out of the back end?

    • @stanislavmarinov
      @stanislavmarinov 13 днів тому +1

      Maybe the reason for that are the exhaust pipes of the gas turbines (the propulsion system consists of 2 diesel engines and 4 gas turbines).
      And if the exhaust pipes are underwater, to decrease the IR signature, the hot gases heat the water and create a small steam trail.
      But that's an assumption, of course.

    • @MrSchwabentier
      @MrSchwabentier 13 днів тому +12

      it is intentional. They dissipate the exhaust gases into the wake of the ship. That creates this "cloud" but it massively reduces the heat-signature of the ship making it stealthier in terms of IR-tracking

    • @johan.edlund
      @johan.edlund 10 днів тому +2

      @MrSchwabentier Not only that, but they also inject seawater into the exhaust system to cool the exhaust. The divinyl core carbon fibre sandvich construction also help reducing the heat signature, and make the vessel hull non-magnetic.
