I was skeptical due to the trendy modular-futuristic design, but the weapons layout certainly allows the class to punch above it's weight. Of course not like I'm the target consumer for the product, but I certainly glad our colleagues in Scandinavia will have something substantial to manage their waters, and not the superyacht-with-an-mg some navies seem to be trending towards.
Its not realy trendy modular futuristic design as this type of building has beeing going on since the 2000s . The Xbow designs is nothing new has been around for almost 30 years .

First Xbow Navy ship . makes sense as the past 20 years it has become a standard for AHTS vessels in the offshore and even several cargo and cruise ships are adopting them . A great increase in fuel efficiency and aerodynamics .
it's not an x-bow design and not even an axe-bow design. it's just a bow that is somewhat straight in the front. And there have been many ships with similar type of bowes, even the French have and are building ship with similar type og bow, even the Italians.

It's pretty rare to see such a capable design for a modern ocean-going patrol vessel these days. Most nations seem to be building them more to keep the ship yards open than for their capabilities.

Looks like they aren't using all of the space in those "cubes", esp. the Harpoon module looks like it could hold twice the amount shown, which is kinda odd. In modern naval warfare the amount of missiles you can carry is of utmost importance, so I hope it can fit more than shown.
There is nothing odd about that imo. It is a compromise to stay flexible. Its a patrol boat not a frigate, so it is more than capable to do its missions. Denmark is absolutely leading the way in naval design atm. which is also reflected in their frigate design🙂
I noted in his description he used the words "ready for combat" ; this is not the mind set of the Australian and Canadian Navies who like to build ships that can not fight or even defend themselves. Now I have seen the design concept, they plan to build a little beast of a ship ... well done Denmark. 😯
The standflex was not useful, thats why they only had one task, the frigates is also flexible but it isnt used, the supportships is flexible but it takes to long time to change. So in the end why not build 6 shps 4 in military configuration and 2 in environmental configuration
Stanflex worked fine. US should have just adopted it directly instead of reinventing the wheel with LCS. Denmark managed to actually deploy a wider range of working modules than the US even built with a vastly larger budget because the US went hard with the Second System Effect, trying to justify why they didn't just adopt Stanflex so LCS had to theoretically do everything any admiral could imagine.

That's 33 kph.. That's simply not enough if it's supposed to be able to fight against other ships. The Flyvfisken class had a top speed of 30 knots. And there were a reason for that. This looks like a sales platform.. Not something that will be useful in the Baltic Sea 🤷♂️

Modular concept it can work for the Philippine navy. After all it took our planners a full 3 years to arm the JRCs with half the anti ship missiles.

don't compare the stanflex with what the US Navy did, they didn't understand how it should work.

Cool design, but insufficient speed. 18 knots it is a joke. It should be around 30 knots. No one will upgrade modules, if ship itself extremely slow.
