Danske Patruljeskibe is a consortium composed of local ship design company OMT, local defense company Terma and local pension fund Pansion Denmark. Danske Patruljeskibe is the prime contractor for the overal patrol ship program.

I was impressed with the weapons on that size of vessel. Certainly capable of punching above its weight
Most of the northwestern European vessels punch well above their class. Because the navies are smaller than the English speaking countries have they need to be able to do more with less. That is why they started modularity over 30 years ago and are more successful at it than most large countries.
Although they’ll do the usual thing in Denmark, where they buy the space for armament but not actually the armament. So it might have canisters for AA missiles, but no missiles, and it might be ready for the CIWS, but “they’ll arrive later”

Great design from OMT. Their Iver Heuitfeld fregat design are the basis for future vessels in the UK and Poland, and they are also involved in the design of navy ship production facilities in Australia.
This new Multi Role Patrol Vessel is very much in need for coastal waters around Denmark.
German K130 class corvettes are very simular in some capabilities and size except for beam. Its top speed is 26 knots

I was skeptical due to the trendy modular-futuristic design, but the weapons layout certainly allows the class to punch above it's weight.
Of course not like I'm the target consumer for the product, but I certainly glad our colleagues in Scandinavia will have something substantial to manage their waters, and not the superyacht-with-an-mg some navies seem to be trending towards.
Its not realy trendy modular futuristic design as this type of building has beeing going on since the 2000s . The Xbow designs is nothing new has been around for almost 30 years .
The modular aspect is nothing new to the Danish navy and has been in use since the 80s, works quite well

First Xbow Navy ship . makes sense as the past 20 years it has become a standard for AHTS vessels in the offshore and even several cargo and cruise ships are adopting them .
A great increase in fuel efficiency and aerodynamics .
it's not an x-bow design and not even an axe-bow design. it's just a bow that is somewhat straight in the front. And there have been many ships with similar type of bowes, even the French have and are building ship with similar type og bow, even the Italians.

It's pretty rare to see such a capable design for a modern ocean-going patrol vessel these days. Most nations seem to be building them more to keep the ship yards open than for their capabilities.

The standflex was not useful, thats why they only had one task, the frigates is also flexible but it isnt used, the supportships is flexible but it takes to long time to change.
So in the end why not build 6 shps 4 in military configuration and 2 in environmental configuration
don't compare the stanflex with what the US Navy did, they didn't understand how it should work.
Stanflex worked fine. US should have just adopted it directly instead of reinventing the wheel with LCS. Denmark managed to actually deploy a wider range of working modules than the US even built with a vastly larger budget because the US went hard with the Second System Effect, trying to justify why they didn't just adopt Stanflex so LCS had to theoretically do everything any admiral could imagine.

Why the us navy didn’t just copy the stanflex system for the LCS I will never understand

Just 18 knots? For a patrol vessel.. That's a joke.. Right?
It is to been seen, how the final design will end up, but at the moment it will have a max speed at 18 knots do to the operational requirements
That's 33 kph.. That's simply not enough if it's supposed to be able to fight against other ships. The Flyvfisken class had a top speed of 30 knots. And there were a reason for that.
This looks like a sales platform.. Not something that will be useful in the Baltic Sea 🤷♂️
@@heinedenmark Yes, with 18 knots you can't do anything anywhere, it's rubbish. Warship that can't make war, just perfect for the ever-shrinking navy budget of a western democracy.
@@heinedenmark one is an patrol ship, the other one is an warship. one is build for patrolling and assist with environment problems + rescue, that happens to be capable to carry some weapons, the other one is build as an warship that can sink other ship

Cool design, but insufficient speed. 18 knots it is a joke. It should be around 30 knots. No one will upgrade modules, if ship itself extremely slow.
Denmark buy 10 of these or 20.

I belive the current budget is 5 billion dkk for 6 or perhabs 5 units. 7.5 billion dkk seems more realistic.

that is normal on a patrol ship, it isn't an warship with complex and advance systems onboard
@@heuhen I don't know what you mean, the ship has anti-air missiles modules, 4 remote auto canon, torpedoes modules and so one, configurable at time of purchase/initial arming in 3 or 4 ship zones. Maybe you should watch the video. 30 to 40 crew at its weakest configuration, no problem. At full, thats clearly a ~60crew ship. Oh surprise, data says accomodation for 65 ...
