    It's a great mic (I own one) but as you mention it requires you to sit and talk at very fixed (close) distance and angle to the mic in order to get reasonably uniform volume levels. If you like to move around now and then while speaking you will be better off using a more sensitive mic which you can place a bit further away from your mouth since that will give you more freedom to move without a huge variation in signal level. That's why I still prefer to use my old Blue Yeti for this type of UA-cam/podcasting recording at home. The tradeoff is as you say that a more sensitive mic will pick up more background noise but I usually don't have as many background noise issues as you so my priorities are different and I will normally only use my sE V7 for this type of job when I'm also in a more noisy environment where the background noise can't easily be filtered out in post production (or I'm able to sit still the whole time of course). The V7 is designed to be a handheld mic and that's where it shines the most for me. 🙂

      This is what I've been trying to tell wm, just not in so many words. Totally agree.

    Hi, I want to record my written poetry professionally. Suggest me a good audio interface and microphone. But my room is not sound proof. The sound from outside comes inside our room. If I use Audio Technica 2035 mic and Shuru SM 58, then what will be the difference between the two? And which audio interface would be better for ShureSM 58. In which there is no noise and the quality is also good at the time of recording.

    Also with these inline mic preamps the interface with its preamps change the coloration as well n some inline pre's sound n respond differently to different interface preamps. But yeah I totally agree. One mic for tracking in studio n live performance. That way the audience get as close to the recorded sound as possible as well wen performing live.

    It is a se electronics mic. Se electronics make the dynamite inline micamp. Cloudlifter changes the color a bit which might be good. Just saying.

      I dont own the SM58, but Podcastage channel did a wonderful review of it.

      Much smoother top end. SM58 has a boosted 10k and a roll off going higher than that, this extends much higher and doesn't have the same 10k peak.

    Yeah, I think this is more of a handheld mic for singers, not so much for vlogging or podcasts as you have to stick pretty close to it if you're only going to be talking, which can be extremely irritating.

    • @wm1573
      @wm1573 3 роки тому

      nah. you dont know much about microphones? all dynamic mics require you to be a bit closer than a consender mic. you realize most podcasts use sm7b which is a dynamic and requires to be close to it. if you use a consender mic in a untreated room its going to be horrible most of the time.

    • @jasonbodden8816
      @jasonbodden8816 3 роки тому

      @@wm1573 Wow. I still stand by what I said. When you're singing it's still more comfortable to stick fairly close to the mic than sitting down doing a podcast for any length of time. Much more annoying and limiting than live vocal performance where you can move at least a little while keeping close to the mic, especially if you don't play an instrument and have your hands free to move with the mic off of a stand.

    • @wm1573
      @wm1573 3 роки тому

      @@jasonbodden8816 you can setup a dynamic microphone as a boom mic above your head. There's tons of videos demonstrating that. Condenser mic is only worth if your room is actually treated

      @@jasonbodden8816 otherwise the mic will catch literally all excess sound, like fans and voice bouncing off walls

      @@wm1573 And again, it would still be irritating because of the limited movement you'd have because of the mic pattern. And I don't agree with the last part, though. The proximity effect is pretty strong with this mic so I just wouldn't use it for sitting down and doing any talking for any length of time. But it's all good. You do you. I'm fine with us disagreeing lol.
