Lewitt MTP 250 DM Dynamic Mic Review / Test (with SM58, sE v7, E835 &M1 Comparison)

- Today I review an awesome $80 handheld dynamic microphone that rivals the Sennheiser E835. This mic has a more pleasing treble and air boost, and a high pass around $200 hz to tame a bit of the proximity effect. It does suffer from handling noise and plosive rejection, but for $80, it’s a stellar deal.

I'm no longer looking for a microphone, I've made my decision, but I super appreciate the detail you put into these review and comparison videos! Much love.
What did you decide on?
@@ellisgl Rode PodMic. Eventually I'll upgrade but it's a good start, from the countless reviews I've looked at. Pairing it with the Yamaha AG-03.
@@PaladinNathan Good decision! Hopefully they have it in stock!
@@xHadesStamps I'm hoping so too. I've heard a lot of back order stuff about it, even just a while ago.
@@PaladinNathan Well, I wish you luck!
Perfect review. I like how you go back to the Lewitt in between mics. That's how I think mic comparisons should be done. Thanks
Lewitt is slowly becoming my favorite microphone brand
they are already my fav
@@SatyajitKhairnar Me too.
My fav for sure
I am looking into this microphone for live performances and the lct 240 pro for recording, their mics just look so nice
Always appreciate the comparisons to other mics in these videos thank you!
Thanks so much Heather. Happy to help any way I can to get a better idea of the microphones performance. 🤘🏻
I have had one of these in my collection for a few years. Great mic. Very good at rejecting feedback even without an EQ
Thank you for all of the Mic reviews that you do.
wow I really loved the comparison, switching back and forth between the lewitt!
Thanks ;)
Returning to the mic in question in between comparisons is brilliant and should be a UA-cam law for anyone how compares one model of anything to more than one other model. Thank you, Bandrew - I always enjoy your content but you became somewhat funnier and somewhat better during the last year or so and although I really don't need any more mics, I am glad to see when you pop up in my stream and happily click on the video. Thanks!
I have just purchased two of these with a one week free shipment. Anxious to try them. Got them for stage use, your review helped a lot. Tank you!
Quality stuff sir as always! This mic tone reminds of an AKG, crispy I would describe it
You always have the best reviews
The sound of it in an untreated environment is OMFG!!!
Thanks for the Review!
Wow, now I do own a Lewit 441 Flex, but I’m finding again - How pleasantly surprising the sound quality seems to be next to other competitors! I think it won this category with the Sennheiser on the same tier of Good tonality.. It really tracked everything in the music section very well.. & thanks for these videos, love it!
HEY bandrew thankyou SO MUCH for this! I'd requested this a couple times on Twitter. thankyou for hearing out 😍❤
Thanks for requesting this shoot out! Very much appreciated
@@LEWITT-audio you're welcome 😊❤ it's an incredible mic, i hope to be able to buy it in a couple months 😃
Very nice! As a huge Sennheiser fan I expected to prefer the e835, but I liked the Lewitt and sE Electronics the best out of the lot.
That much us very easy to listen to. One thing I've learned from watching mic reviews is a dynamic can be as good or better than a condenser. Sound great on guitar as well. N sound just as good with the foam wind screen. Ty
Great review as always. I love Lewitt.
Thanks so much Rod! I agree that Lewitt is doing some cool stuff.
I’m so impressed ! Handling noise was very noticeable but I’m shocked it sounds better than a sm58
У какой модели лучше звук?
Excellent review as usual Bandrew. I really like the sound of that Mic & I don't think that you can beat it for that price. Not that I will be buying another Mic anytime soon............ 🎤🎤🎤🎤👍👍
Very good review!
Perfect demo.
I did some testing of some of common mics with a friend who has a cleft palate. The Lewitt gave the clearest understanding for his voice. The mics were sm58, beta57, Samson q7, and an A/T condesor.
Great review
The M1 sounds surprisingly smooth. Why isn't it more popular? great video!
You're probably the best reviewer of mics. I was looking for an alternative to the sm58. This could be it. Thank you!
That really means a lot. Happy to know the video helped out. Happy recording Jason!
I've been enjoying my Lewitt "Match" small condensers for my acoustic guitar recording, pretty great value for a matched pair for $200 .
Would love a review of their MTP 550 DM to go along with this. Also, in the budget department, a JTS SX-7.
Bandrew I saw you today in my dream, where you recommended me a Focusrite audio interface that doesn't even exist on the market. 😅 It was smaller than Focusrite Scarlett solo, you can say that it was Focusrite mini! Btw awesome review.
for spoken word they all sound really good i cant decide, each one has a unique tone that i personally don't mind on my dt770s
sounds great actually
going to be great on toms and snare too
Bought this cause of podcastage. Foam end and its perfect! Gonna get a decent amp so I can record some modern metal guitar with it too. See how it goes!
Great review..! Pls review the MTP 550 DM..
Great review, Could not have agreed more with your comparisons. I would take the E835 over the MTP-250DM all day for sound but this is such a good alternative option!
Holy crap.. That untreated room sounds almost the same as the treated one.
I think I've found my new microphone.
0:58 it's a sticker you can wear! xD
Lewitt makes good mics. Haven't heard a bad one from them yet.
Love the rejection. The sE V7 sounds like a 58, but what sunk it for me was that when we tested it, it had way less gain before feedback, so unless your singer is on IEMs I don’t think it’s a great choice. This mic, though, sounds brighter, better, and at a glance should have excellent GBF at an even more competitive price.
Why is it the guitar segments are always what I look forward to the most. I don't even play guitar. Just good stuff.
once again a great review. Thank you. Any chance you could review the Electro-Voice EV N/D767 microphone?
I dont know why but ur videos are always entertaining, am I weird? I know these vids are for educational stuff or whatever but still.
Hi, thank you. Please review the Tannoy TM1. Best regards from Italy
I Love This Part 😍😋 0:42
lewwit have really good mics
Great review I love your work, Would you recommend the Lewitt MTP-250-DM or the Rode NT1 for audio book narration ? I was also looking at the Shure SM57.
Thanks
Lewitt MTP 550 DM comparison would be interresting!
Thx for your great work!
By the way, the Lewitt MTP 440 DM is an excellent mic for guitar amps. We tested it in the band with an e906 and SM57. The SM57 is now in the drawer.
So I already bought a mic at Bandrew's suggestion (Samson Q2U) and very happy about it.. so why do I still click the moment I see the notification? lol.. it's not like I am going to buy another mic..
You just keep telling yourself that. You are just in the "pre-collecting" stage.
@@libertyDude1775 I mean I already have a Blue Snowball, Behringer XM8500, Behringer UM2 interface, Samson Q2U, some cheap lavs, Purple Panda lav, Deity D3 Pro mic (Bandrew review pending), Audio-Technica AT8024... I am on cheap collection stage right now.. Thank god I don't have enough money to buy the expensive ones..
@@JustAskThisDad
Yeah Buddy!
One of us! One of us! ha ha
Quality doesn't have to be expensive. I too use Bandrew's Podcastage channel to assist in selecting the best "cream of the budget crop" microphones for my use cases. Having a plethora of useable mics available in your mic locker, enhances your capabilities & creating possibilities.
Hope you find interesting & fun ways to enjoy your collection.
@@libertyDude1775 Only mic I haven't used to its potential is Samson Q2U. There wasn't anything wrong with my Blue snowball to start with so it stays my daily desktop mic. Gotta find something better to do with samson soon. Most probably going to use it as a mobile voice recording setup.
I am in the same boat.
But hey, at least I am planing to buy a second one, after that Samson Q2U. Right now I just don't know if its gonna be a Shure SM58 or Behringer ba 85a or something completely different.
The Sennheiser has a premium tag but damn did it sound by far the best.
Anneke de Bruyn I have two of them but I still like the sm57 better
Thanks!
You are too kind Noleian! Thank you os much.
Excellent video!! 👏👏 What do you think about the AKG D7??
more like the bandrew shreds podcast 🤘
I feel I like the V7 voice sound the most out of the bunch.
I liked the sE Electronics v7 the most when compared to the others.
Yes I can agree on this, I bought the sE Electronics v7 microphone capsule for my Shure radio microphone system and I really like the detail and clean vocal production that it produces
Noooo! It had that irritating high frequency cheap mic thing going on. That frequency response that draws in noobs with it's so called "hi-fi" sound. No bueno.
Yeah it’s a no for me. Super hissy on the high end, my least favorite of the bunch
Do you have a video on how to cancel out keyboard clicks for any microphone or popular ones? If not I’d really like to see that, this would be for a gaming video and etc
He Bandrew, Love your reviews! What is a good ultraportable mike to connect to iPhone for interviews on the road? Thanks.
When you said fun interesting or helpful....I felt that 👊🏽
Thanks for doing the comparison with other similar mics, especially the SM 58 which most mic-using people will be familiar with.
I actually liked this mic, but the Behringer XM8500 is nearly as good for about $25. Price is very important to me when talking about equipment that might be used outdoors, may be close proximity to beverages, may easily be misplaced or stolen etc. If you aren't actually using this on stage... there are better choices than a stage mic IMO.
XM8500 is amazing for vocal recording. for 23$ this mic is absolutly gift.
Great review, I liked the sound of the Lewitt for spoken word, it sounds more natural to my ears.
I Need I ❤ Lewitt Sticker 😂😂😂
That foam windscreen might as well have been the vinyl bag.
I would love to hear you compare all the Lewitt handheld microphones. I hope that happens! 🙏🏽🙌🏽
how to connect audio interface to a mixer or connect mixer to audio interface with a condenser mic and which option is resulting a great audio quality : audio interface to mixer to computer or mixer to audio interface to computer ?
Hey Bandrew! I wanna make acapella and dubbing. I dont have a treated room. Should i buy this or a condenser mic at this price range? İ'd appreciate if you answer. Thanks a lot for all of your great content!
Could you review the Sontronics Solo please?
Could you review the MXL 990 USB
Can you make a review of rockville mrco3?thanks and godbless
Hey! I want buy dyn. mic for recroding vocal in room. Should i buy Lewit 250 or AKG D5?
Hi, will you review the Superlux TM58?
💯💯💯💯💯💯
Yo you going to review the Samson Satellite?!
please versus between the shure sm 58 and the sennheiser e835
I've gone so long without saying this, but it is difficult to hear "the 2nd 90° angle" when 3/4s of a circle is 270°.
I find it odd that some mic diagrams show 0°-90°-180°-90°-0°...
Which frequency costs $200?
Hello - which camera are you using please ?
no mention of how it compares to the Q2U?
You're a fast typist.
Tone good for a live vocal microphone, styling good, plosives bad ... but maybe something like PopperBlocker Pop Filter would solve it (not sure if these are still available but the concept seems good to me, I tried something similar a few times). Quite a few Lewitt microphones seem interesting. Great video thanks again!
I came to know 250 discontinued as well as 550. Any idea which is a better mic? You have tested to so many mics, I am sure I will not go wrong following your advice…
I Would Like You To Review The Blue Mouse Mic 🎤
Can you do a review for shure classic 55SH?
what is dobly do and where is it?
The only microphone I could tell the difference between was the Rode M1. Darker.
Hmm they all sounded different for me, Beyerdynamic Amiron headphones and a Schiit amp.
Can you do Shure SM7b vs Rode Procaster, I'm particularly interested in which mic can do background elimination better!
@Mihul Yadav that's insightful thank you
Sorry, I'm new to this and I bought this microphone but it seems it doesn't work at all, I don't know if it needs a special XLR cable or if it needs phantom power
Any help would be welcomed
What boom arm could you use for this?
Worth it for 80$??? 💭😲💸
or you have other recommendations in the same price point? Thanks!
Any chance of reviewing the MTP 550 DM the more premium version of this mic?
I think I have that one as well as two handheld condensers and an instrument mic from Lewitt that I'll be doing in the next few months.
Is it good for podcast
Hry Bendrew, what are your thoughts on portable recorders such as zoom h1n or tascam dr05? Do you think they can be a substitute for mics?
They are microphones.
The question in return is,
would the on board microphone content they record, meet the quality standards you require?
That can only be answered by you.
If there wasn't a valid use case for them, they wouldn't continue to be a viable product in the marketplace.
Personally, I own a zoom h1n. It is a great device. For my needs, I usually connect a separate lavalier, or directional small shotgun mic (designed for camera use). Like every product, these have features that can be advantageous, or limiting. They do not have XLR inputs. Thus, you are limited to what alternative microphones you can connect.
I would suggest following the link above in the video description to Bandrew's Discord server, "Podcastage."
He has developed an outstanding community of knowledgeable & helpful people. I'm sure if you ask there, someone would be happy to record a few audio sample for you to listen to.
But whatever you do, understand, "perfection" is not a requirement to create fantastic content.
Hope you find success.
@@libertyDude1775 thank you so much for the detailed answer :)
It does look and sound like D5
A rubber bracelet is a much better alternative to stickers.
FilFee I’m wearing mine right now.
Pepperoni Pizza with parmesan, please.
I'm a live sound guy, so plosives and handling noise are why I sold my MTP-250.
I hate to say it because I ❤ the V7, but the Shure SM-58 won the plosives test. 🤔
What I find more interesting is that a large number of people are preferring the crispier tonality of the E835 and this mtp-250...I guess it is a tell tale sign that more people are losing their high frequency hearing than they actually realize.
SomeCallMeTim yeah the handling noise is way too much
He did not even did a plosive test on the sm this video
as they say, you can never have too much XLR cables
Or, too MANY.
What would Lewitt do?
wow
What!?!? No sticker? No sale...
Is a stage Dynamic mic not as good for UA-cam or twitch? Or am I paying too much?
A stage dynamic absolutely can work for youtube or twitch.
It's great for those purposes!
I just found your channel today and I think I wasted four hours at work watching your videos! How would you stack the Lewitt up against the Behringer XM8500 for both fieldwork and voice-over work? I'm doing live interviews at sporting events, covering press conferences, but I also want something good with my budget to podcast. I'm using a Zoom H1n as my grab and go unit and using a Tascam DR-100mkii when I need handheld mics. Thanks again!
The XM8500 is hard to beat given the $20 price tag.
@@Podcastage That's the one I'm leaning toward as well, and at that price, I'll grab two and come in all fancy at the next press conference! You are much appreciated!
Sounds like U87AI.
