    Clarity, a forté for you, is always going to be something I struggle with because I have an untidy mind and am interested in too many things at the same time. It's good to see your studio but you are such a master in Ableton and associated software, you make such great stuff in that minimal computer environment, I was really surprised by the external gear. I understand the psychology behind that, even the messy stuff (Modular? Not for me, thanks) as a break out from the claustrophobia of the virtual world and the room you work in.
    Two things to take away for me:
    The power switch thing. Gotta have that. Gotta have that by the door👍
    I seriously need to concentrate on getting fluent in either Ableton or Maschine and stop the gear acquisition, at least for a while, struggling with how to manage technical stuff I forgot and get on with making music.
    Thank you.

    • @OscarUnderdog

      Yeah part of me exploring gear is actually that I feel I need to have my own experience/opinion about it before I can teach people about it! I used to have zero synths, but now that I'm teaching, I feel I need at least one monosynth and one polysynth to be able to confidently speak about the pro's and con's.

    Acoustic treatment would help but physics are, well physics. Can't overcome that. How long is a 28hz wave? 15 meters? That makes working in a small room like this one really hard I imagine? I think maybe 7 meters is probably minimum if you're working under 30hz but I don't know. We have a 10 meter room and that's a reasonable space to work in. Cool tour though. It's always interesting to see what people are working with in their day-to-day and in what kind of spaces etc etc. Thanks. Cheers.

    hello ! sympathique petite visite des lieux ! La question du modulaire nécessite d'être abordée je pense. Pas tant d'un point de vue de la technique. Mais plutôt du workflow. Pourquoi s'équiper ? Un système modulaire pour travailler ? pour jouer ? pour passer du temps à apprendre les bases de la synthèse sonore ? Merci pour toutes ces vidéos régulières, ça m'aide à maintenir mon niveau d'anglais :-) hihihi

    You are so right about keepping things connected. And elektron stuff, yeah. I have Machinedrum and I always prefer using samples most of the time. I'm using Samson patchbays where I can change normal/half normal/through on the front and use them ALL THE TIME to connect different synths to different effect pedals. I also just got an Electro Harmanix Overlord distortion stereo pedal that costs like 1/10th of the Culture Vulture. Why do you "need" such an expensive distortion module? Did you try cheaper alternatives? I spent those 2000€ on a Cranborne 500R800 lunchbox instead that's both THE perfect audio interface, a stereo summing mixer and a housing for 8x 500 modules, like pre-amps, EQ- and compression modules.

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  Рік тому

      I don't disagree with you - the culture vulture is overkill, I just have been lusting after it for more than 5 years now, and I finally rewarded myself by getting it :) there's definitely different options out there, as you say, if you want to optimise for value/money. Am trying to not get into 500 series things though, seems like yet another rabbit hole to spend money down :D let me try out some rack units first haha.

    • @g3cd
      @g3cd Рік тому

      Yeah, I'm avoiding modular like the devil. I saw a young guy with his girlfriend at Superbooth 23 and he was looking at that HUGE modular wall at Erica Synths and I looked at him and said "you can't afford both, it's either modular or your girlfriend" 😂
      With 500 modules, it's really hard to find anything that is not pre-amp, EQ, compressor. I now have some very clean Neve 511 pre-amps, some extremely transient Cranborne Carnaby EQ and a pair of Pete's Place BAC500 compressors that have a will of their own (in a good way). Maybe add some noise gates and that's it. Saves me 4U of rackspace though.
