If you know someone with a 3d printer might be worth trying to print and make your own connectors, could either make for a really cool video and make you some money selling the 3d model file for a few quid or even bags of pre printed/made connectors especially since they are not on sale
went to look at your website but it is down 403 error
Done ✅
Not to bash on the video, it's absolutely amazing. However, a mic would probably be the best upgrade and make your voice clearer.
I agree mate. The mics I have used to be incredibly clear, I'm not sure why they cut in and out now but I plan on buying a new mic as soon as I can afford one at the end of the month
Well done. Your port repairs are always thorough and solid.
Phil, before I even start this video I must applaud the amount of content you post. Almost daily I have something new from you to view.
Thank you mate, I do try to get as much out as possible, it's usually either a video or a live stream lol
another fine video Phil - surprised those traces were still there as well
the owner of the ps5 got lucky the port did not rip any of the traces off great video as always phil well done.
Great video mate 👏👏👍🏻
Love ur videos mate keep on making videos
Well done again mate you’re now my favourite “ repairer “ to watch on UA-cam take care bud 😄
Thank you mate, much appreciated ❤
@@TheCod3r no worries bud keep up the good work❤️
The customer is very lucky wit no damage traces. Good work like always.
Just found ya channel dunno much about electronics but it's so addictive 👍. Stay lucky
I know a few people that always break hdmi and phone charger ports, they force in the part the wrong way🙄 good job again big man👍
I've noticed a lot of the time people are more concerned with how their living room looks than if a console is in a safe place where it can run without being easily knocked over or overheating due to lack of ventilation. Then they're shocked when it breaks. The only problem I ever had was with the Wii I had in 2008. It was in its stand, in a relatively out of the way place. One of my cats managed to get back into where it was, and threw up into the vent. End result: it was completely destroyed and I had to get a new one.
Yup exactly. I have mine laying horizontal and ya it looks nicer standing up but i would rather it stay working and it not get knocked over then look nicer
I love how you have pride in your work and you care about how things look not rushing to get the job done. I hope to be able to work on broken systems one day.
Thanks mate. All it takes really is a bit of practice and a love of fixing things and you can definitely learn this stuff easily
@@TheCod3r thanks alot because I do have the love of fixing things.
Good vid as always phill
Cheers mate, surprised you aren't dead from that cable you made 🤣
Amazing work man.
Dat port u put on looks really solid …great fix phil
Good video ☺️
Another brilliant repair. Question though. Is IPA conductive?
Thorough. Respect.
i see you been promoted from the shed to the loft, bit chilly in either places...
Yet another fantastic video Phil mate and it doesn’t look like that person had the nuts to say anything lol 😂
great vid mate.
Thanks bud
I switch my PS5 HDMI between 3 screen's depending what room I'm in (10mtre HDMI), so I often wonder how long till damage arises.
So far I've learnt, I'll need a smaller solder and to add this video to a fix it playlist for the (hopefully not) future.
Cheers for the video mate.
I like your videos, have you came across the one that can’t reset?
Nice job 💖👍
My god, people are so clumsy with their expensive kit! Another great repair, you're a fantastic techie, and never fail to amaze.
Cheers mate, yeah I agree I don't understand how people manage it either lol
they should get a wall mount for the thing
@@TheCod3r my PS5, I didn't even think the supplied stand was good enough. A mate of mine has a 3d resin printer, he'd made a simpler stand for his PS5 so made me one for my disc edition. It's basically a flat hollow rectangle, about 6" x 7", curved to accommodate a horizontal PS5 with adhesive non slip silicone pads round the top edge to cradle and protect the console. Works brilliant, and the PS5 is stable, doesn't wobble. I just don't understand why you need to move a static console once it's setup, the ONLY time I move mine is to clean vents, I just use the nozzle on my Henry once a month, job done in a minute (less actually) How's your fixed Xbox Series X bearing up, great repair on that as always. I'm sure it'll last for many years to come, thanks to your fine work!
Too right. I have a launch day PS4 revision although it wasn't quite purchased at launch. It has never had an issue and that machine has seen some serious use.
Good on you mate carry on the good stuff and keep positive which you are and never mind the Muppets .
You pointed out near the beginning of the video that the pad around the APU was missing, then when you got around to cleaning it up after you installed the HDMI port, there were some “imperfections” (as you called it) on the surface. I think somebody tried to clean the liquid metal off of it (for whatever reason) and ended up scraping it while doing so.
Well done buddy. All in the attic too?
hi, I have ps5 and non of the ports has power so I can't synchronize controller. I have checked the filters and ports itself but nothing unusual. any ideas?
Nothing wrong with making sure that the port is well and truly soldered to the board. Making sure that the mechanical connection to the board is nice and secure is a good thing and it this case the stronger the better. I also think that 2 out 4 hdmi ports on my tv have so cracked solder joints since I kept swapping cables all the time since moving house alot. Something I might have a look at when the tv dies. As for my consoles what work i've done to them has been ok so far.
hey mate any idea of why ps5 when connected via ethernet keeps saying not connected? even when im on wifi then it says lan cable connected, the ps5 is brand new so im just wondering. thanks
I admire your work. My question is when you diagnose damages on this technology do you think like a physician or a technician?
Thanks mate. I would never compare myself to a physician to be honest. I'm no where near qualified enough for that lol
Hi do you have a spare PS4 pro top cover / lid possibly for sale as I can’t source one
Honestly, the amount of pictures I've seen of people's Ps5s without the stand. It actually triggers me 😂
Hello mate do you do usb repairs for the ps5
None of the pads or traces were ripped out? I'm amazed.
Hi great job, but your overhead camera needs repositioning because we can only see part of the stuff that you are showing us.
Like at the beginning we couldn't see the metal plates properly. Fantastic job though I enjoy watching all your videos keep up the good work well done
Thanks mate, I'm thinking of completely moving my desk to be honest and having the camera mounted on the ceiling so that would likely fix a lot of issues
Lucky snap off with no damage. It seems there was no liquid metal on the cpu or someone removed it. Good job on the port legs 👍
Yeah someone removed it mate. Thank you 😊
hi what liquid metal do you use pls?
hi how much do you charge for HDMI change?
I picked up some Kingbo RMA-218 from ebay after you recommended it. I must have gotten a bad batch because it smoked heavily and dried up instantly. You show it working great, so I'm probably just unlucky. Personally I'll stick with Amtech NC-559 since I've been using it for years. Either way, keep up the great work and thanks for all the informative and entertaining videos!
Lots of fake stuff about, Tho kingbo is nasty stuff anyway
Yet again another fantastic job..my ps4 pro iv had from the date off released..iv only ever unplugged the hdmi lead 3 times in all the year's iv had it..except lifted it up to wipe underneath it..can not for the life of me understand why so many hdmi ports get damaged..positive out of a negative more work for you phil lol 😂
hey dude nice video but, one question, why you keep going with liquid metal when its proven by tronixfix that Thermol paste is just as good? less hassel?
Because liquid metal is better for the Playstation 5. When TronixFix used thermal paste the temps were higher
I don't even understand how's this such a common thing when I never broke a hdmi port EVER, even scratching the back of my consoles in a small space trying to find where's the HDMI port and fitting the cable by feeling...
I would understand more is the USB ports as I had a few bad ports even never forcing. My current PC has 1 bad USB 3.0 port in the back, and it's actually physically good, all the pins are there nice, shinny, clean and dust free but usually it just goes bad randomly and I have to restart my PC to make it work again, but still works...
Hello iv been having trouble with stickdrift on ps5 controller and want to attempt to fix it, im going to use old ps4 controllers to learn a little, what temp on a hot air station should i be using around controllers and what is the brown see through tape is that to stop heat?, thanks.
I'd say no more than 420c on a controller. Yeah the tape is called Kapton tape and it reflects heat, it won't give you 100% protection, but it can help
Great Video! Singing is Good, just add some chair dancing.
Speaking of pin 13! I got a 1001 PS4 that I replaced the HDMI. I only get safemode 480p, and my CEC light on my tester is dim. Any suggestions on where to look? Btw love the solder sucker for the mount points! Best ever!
Usually safe mode 480p only would indicate a HDMI Encoder fault. It's located just on the back of the board behind the port under a shield, it's the MN86471A :)
@@TheCod3r thank you for the quick reply. I’ll try a swap, Cheers!
@@albertdavis1882 no worries bud
@@TheCod3r hey, I pulled the cover and noticed there is no continuity for fuse pin 1. I have to order some but I’m guessing I should replace that 1st before I pull the encoder?
Edit: I put on a used but good fuse. Now have 720p but 1080p still doesn’t work.
Just bought a retimer chip for my xbox one x ... never fitted one before any tips that anyone can give would be a great help .. and another great fix phil great work again
Cheers mate. Yeah when removing the original retimer try and keep heat away from your ram and just have a little patience. The one x sucks up an awful lot of heat because of the massive ground planes
@@TheCod3r thanks phil I am only trying this myself from watching you're videos that helped me build up the confidence in trying this myself .. keep up the great work bud and I will update you fingers crossed
Best to use 91% Isopropyl alcohol with eletronics. Normal "rubbing" alcohol (70%) actually can leave a film or smear. I only use this and have for 20 years. Works flawless. Available at most corner Walgreens, etc. We used a ton when we repaired VCR's Camcorders, NES, SNES catridge contacts, etc. 99% alcohol is just as good but is a slightly higher fire hazard since it's so pure.
Yeah I use 99.9% personally, but it is pretty combustible lol
Or you can use the electronic spray which evaporates immediately
@@MidMOGrower Alcohol is cheaper IMO. lol
Liquid metal impregnates the surface into any metal it lies against. Especially as the heat goes up it flows into the other metal to contaminate it. It does not hurt the heat transfer unless it gets corroded. Liquid metal is about the best heat transfer available.
sorry, more of a question than an insult. ur a amazing technitian so not terying to undermine you Phil
Very lucky that pads is not ripped off.
I don’t understand why ppl aren’t way more careful with their expensive gear, when I finally manage to buy a PS5 I’m gonna really take care of it, unbelievable we’re in March 2022 and still can’t find one easy for rrp:(
So, a while back before I knew better I was cleaning boards by dipping a toothbrush into IPA bottle direct which contaminated it (or so I assume) and when dried circuit boards were sticky (but clean) I got fresh IPA now and wiped that on board but its still a little sticky so wondering how to get rid of the stickiness? I hear mixed things about water and something like washing up liquid.
Doing that probably wouldn't damage anything, but you'd have to make sure there's absolutely full voltage discharge before doing it and that every damn corner of the last component is dry before energizing. Honestly wouldn't risk it myself.
@@ZonicMirage Or simply use distilled water < Non conductive
@@triogaminggroup4180 Forgot that was an option, honestly.
Great job mate 👍 👏 money 💰 money 💰 job 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 so enjoy your videos 📹 👍 please keep them coming 🙏 👍 and here to help get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀 cheers 🍻 mate 👍 😀

Hi and good afternoon thecod3r. I've been watching your channel for some time and realy aprishiate your content. I have a duet 2 wifi clone board that I managed to damage with incorrectly wired fan header. The board is still fully functional if I use ex1 setup but the ex0 is unusable due to no cooling controle. A 3 pin tiny chip had popped with is aparently one of the many redundancy they incorporate into the design to protect from main components from stupidity. Any chance I can send it your way and pay you to fix it. Itle be quick fix if you can get the replacement easly. Mabe not worth a video on it but ide be much aprishiate of your buisness. Personaly watching you work I trust your hands lol. Plz feel free to reach out to me if your interested. Cheers
Just curious , why don't you use the base ?
I don't have the base to my kids' consoles because I bought them as faulty and repaired them :)
Alright lad! Got an issue with my PS5, wondering if you can help from your experiences? It won’t turn on, once the button is pressed, the noise sounds, blue light and fans kick on for 1 second then it powers down? Any help would be great.
Hey mate, it's a tough one that is. From my own experiences it can be a hdmi encoder issue, an issue with the 5v-3.3v regulator or something to do with the audio amp ic, but it could in theory be pretty much anything and can't really be determined very easily without it being in front of me
@@TheCod3r Okay thanks, I’ll send over an email!
I spilled coffee on my xbox and it chimes but doesnt turn on what do i do
"Please stop saying how great kingbo is you will drive up the prices " just got my scope sorted about to do my flux and solder order had a laugh when I found an entry with kingbo more expensive than amtech was others that where cheaper but I did have a laugh.
Haha whoops 🤭 I guess I'll have to start buying batches of 100 to keep myself supplied 🤣
Hi Phil, did you know that your surname is *Very* specific to you area ? And that it basically means son of Daniel ?
i mean, there's always the perfecy amout of thermol paste but always a little too much liquid metal lol
I bet some of these people could bust up a NES ,the mind boggles how many hdmi repairs get done these days
Amazon purches do u know what gets bought bud cuz I'm using it now as my Amazon bookmark link
Thanks mate. I can see what gets purchased but that's all, nothing identifying, for example I can't see who bought what and when, just what was bought and the amount of commission I get for it
Cheers bud I tend to make a few purchases per month so hopefully it helps ya fella cuz ur videos are bangin if I knew where to send items I'd fire my PS4 down for u to have a look at cuz the technicians up my way get awful feedback and because I'm in a chair I don't want to go out of town
Is your workshop in your loft 😕
the sound is a bit weird on this video dude. dunno if you can hear it
Yeah mics have been playing up for a while to be honest mate. I'll be buying an omni directional mic that I can mount to the ceiling soon though
getting steady flow ps5 in with messed up ports done 4 now
Nice :) keeps you busy lol
You wouldve assumed that the technician who couldnt do this basic hdmi repair is possible a technician in a totally different area ?
I actually thought your singing was good 😂
The execs at MS have just watched this and said Phil is genius he saved us 20p per board build with that missing cap lol wouldn't put it passed them lol
Phil "this board has been dropped"
Phil a moment later "I got the shakes today"
way to build anticipation lol
Haha to be fair I did have bad shakes while working on that console, it would've been funny to see me doing trace repair with the shakes 😄
is there any reason why people can't lie the console flat, like it is when you just tried it to see if it has a white light, I'm not a console person so wouldn't know, sorry if it's a muppet question :)
Nah not a muppet question, the problem is the sides are uneven and it wobbles when it's flat, a pretty poor design if you ask me
@@TheCod3r Ah,, never gave the curved side a thought, cheers for the reply Phil. :)
And the Heatshink its self is smaller
I’ve got a hp pavilion gaming laptop lasted a year and now cpu is over heating and to replace it is 500£
can anyone remember the part of the microwave he gets his jumper wires from got one to scrap so might aswell get sumthing out of it.

Smaller heatsink is capped speed - so it won’t burn that cap like on revision 1
I don't understand how this happens. Buy it plug it all in and it sits there gathering dust lol
Lol yep, I don't get it sometimes either lol
How can people who dropped a whole lot of money for the next generation consoles be so careless ?

agree about the flux bud, since retiring i use that fake amtech, 6 x10cc for £8, it dos the job mate and smells the same as the real stuff, i dont see what the fuss is about.
The fake amtech does give me a headache but yeah, pointless literally burning money away

Dude you need to get some new treasers, preferably with no rust🤣😆
I can't afford a PS5 at moment due to personal circumstances and seeing things like this makes me feel angry, I have consoles that are over ten years old that are still in perfect condition. 🤔😒😒
I feel that mate. I got lucky with the ones I bought and got them as faulty, but I agree people don't take enough care these days
Not another one.
Actually I wanted to see it taken apart A buddy of mine is willing to give me a PS5 HDMI is the only problem
He who shall not be named lol
Haha indeed
I'm hoping it's who I think it is lol
I know you said you use more than a petabyte of data in one month, no disrespect my friend but I'm sure thats about 130,000 hrs of 4k streaming.
Yeah it probably is, but one thing people don't realize with data is that when you have a family of 5 and 4 of those people have 2 consoles each (PS5 + Xbox Series S/X) and we all have the same games with auto updates enabled, we can use 1-2TB in one night just on game updates. If you have for example 5 games and they update once a month, you're looking at 10TB a month just on game updates alone. That's just a guess, we have more games than that which update regularly, plus smart TVs, phones, laptops, desktops and other smart devices. I can use 25-30GB of bandwidth per live stream, plus uploading 10-15 5GB videos per month is another 50-75GB just for UA-cam alone. 2 of my neighbours also use my connection for their entire house with direct access to my modem so it all adds up pretty quickly
I don't get why people dropped their PS5?? That thing is reasonably big and heavy (and f**king expensive) and by right, it should stay still without moving anywhere when in operation. Are they waging war with their neighbor with PS5 as throwing weapon??
damn it @cheapasstech im second :D
If you get a ps5 console for sale let me know
If you don’t have any solder on your tip… 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Ouch! Sounds painful!
You didn't get your hair cut lol
Haha nah not yet, going to get it done in the next day or 2 though lol
Someone else has been in there because that is scratching on the chip
Yeah someone had looked in there before I got to it
@@TheCod3r Mind you some repair shops and have seen this first hand and stopped it before they could do it, claim they can not fix something like this same symptoms described beeps white light etc and offer to buy the console cheap 'for parts' they say and then a day later its in the cabinate for sale twice the price, so some advice for people never take the first guys answer they cant repair it go elsewhere after like to Phil with awesome track record.
First - please like the video!
Hi have a project for you if you up for it reply back if interested
So you buy $500 to $600 system and they couldn’t afford $50 extra to pay for a three-year extended warranty. Wow. Great video and repair.
You’re joking lol, the extended warranty does NOT cover accidental damage! Unless you pay a fair bit more than the 50 you’re talking about.
