Sponsorship isn't free money, it's a recognition of your skill and viewer base that promotes the products directly to your viewers. Don't under value your worth, you absolutely are providing a valid service to both your viewers and the sponsors. I get you're an honest and unfiltered individual, just don't sell yourself short! eBay has tons of dishonest sellers of "for repair" electronics. Very common with PSP sellers but I've seen suspicious DS Lites like this as well.

Pet peeve that always bothers me with repairs where someone else has opened it in the past:

what happened here was the IHS was RE liquid metaled and the liquid metal ate some of the IHS capacitors Solder and came loose , so they opened it up again and tried too re solder the Capacitors back on and failed because they didn't have the right equipment or knowledge too put those tiny Capacitors back then re assembled the PS 5 as best they could and prayed it worked and when it didn't they decided too sell it and make it some one else problem ... !!! yes liquid metal eats Solder and stuff over time thats why their is a barrier of fine foam too keep the liquid metal off the rest of the board ... this is a rookie mistake and has happened with Graphics cards as well that i have gotten .. luckily if your skilled , it is fixable !!! and hey Clear nail polish protects the Caps very well ...

With dead board and apu and other chips u should try some techniques like with a spacer on iron an blob u might be able to flow molten solder onto the chip pads at right amount and other physics tricks to work..........

I'm not sure mate but apparently it was originally dropped so Sony wouldn't cover that under warranty

@@TheCod3r Seller sounds dumb either way, I don't think Sony would deny warranty over a small crack on the case. But never used their warranty before.

They pulled a fast one on you but sometimes it happens unfortunately. We live in a scammed world, too bad you didn’t meet the seller yourself. If it were me I would have contacted the seller or report him as a scam seller on the Facebook market group.

Yeah shit happens sometimes mate, the parts are worth more to be than what I paid for it though. I couldn't report the seller though because i got it via wayne and Chris

  • @oaba201

Just a piece of advice. Before you power the board. First check the board thoroughly under microscope.
Check the resistances on the power lines. Or critical datalines. (The ones often fail) Just to prevent further damages by turning the equipment ON. That gives you a clue if there is something major going ON.
If you are fixing the same boards. Just record the resistances on a good equipment.
    Every day is a school.

It’s repairable, removed that liquid metal and clean it up and reflow it. It’s that simple. Must make sure it’s clean for reflow.

I think you can still get your $ back either in using parts to repair consoles or sell them if most of the parts are good....also are the hdmi ports weak like the ps4 or a people being to rough in a rush inserting and removing the hdmi leads🤔

    • @TheCod3r

Yeah I've made a lot more on parts to fix other consoles than I paid for the console so I'm happyy either way :)

I dont know what the pins on the little apu things are made of but liquid metal has gallium in it so if they are aluminum it will destroy it if it got on them. Im not even slightly knowledgeable about electronics just a random guess

hi Mate, do you fix laptops as well? I got an old msi gt72 been sitting for awhile. I sent to 2 companies, neither could repair it. There is a fault on the motherboard. I suspect it will be a challenge. Are you interested(I will pay) ?

I do repair them mate yeah, but if it's been to 2 companies it depends whether they've done anything to it to make it worse

I agree in hindsight maybe, but I've soldered those caps back on like that a few times without issue. I think this one was just unfortunate

Never realised pS5 had an APU always thought the CPU and GPU were seperate, It looks like someone got to the APU before you and tried to fix it, the drop would have had cracks and other components out of place, so yeah scammed by the looks of it or wanted you to fail because you fix EVERYTHING! Maybe try bring you down a notch as your abilities are getting noticed more and more. I had a asus laptop with APU A9 I think it was few ago was a decent laptop just for making Unity games, got a new Asus TUF F17 Gaming laptop which has the right specs for my new future UE5 game making, only thing is though the screen flickers now and again, never had that problem before, any idea what might be causing it?, it has an i7-11800H, RTX 3060 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 17.3 inch screen @144Hz with Windows 10 home, hoping my screen doesn't pack in as it's brand new, hopefully it dies down, thinking of just getting a Desktop PC next time and a Macbook Pro once I can afford it once my games come out which are taking AGES to finish lol started off 2D android then done some Google daydream until it shut the server so moved to 3D android and now 3D PC steam games, hopefully console once I see how my Steam game does but freemium in android is annoying way to make income if any, things change too fast, was thinking moving into web or going bk to my uni routes and some microcontroller work, done some Analogue electronics as well wanted to further that, Electromagnetism is fascinating etc but the Analogue Electronics was all ADC stuff and other stuff not explained properly like it never connected to other coursework unlike the digital side which connected with the computer science stuff hardware/software, my course felt biased towards digital which I can understand but was more programming than hardware and building testing only tiny amounts of soldering which was on the Analogue electronics side, and wish I had been doing things like what you are doing, microcontrollers were as close as I got and some sensors programming in Assembly and C. I did fix my Samsung lcd once though replaced about 6 capacitors all fine but 1, couldnt find I think was a long time ago a 100uf and used a 10uf instead, tv worked but the scart buzzed lol never realised just a small difference in capacitors made a big difference, those values might be wrong but they weren't that far off that I thought na won't matter, the tv worked that's all that mattered. Handed it in to cash gen years ago after about 5 years use, they never checked the scart lol just the ariel to pick up freeview lol nice wee Samsung was sad to see it go but needed the cash got 125 for it(wasn't too happy but knew it wasn't 100% so let it slide) was 300 new and a little cracker at the time 2007. Anyway love the channel subbed. ✌

That was one big scam. I would like to see some one get an item from eBay or some other selling sight and if they can prove it to be a scam go pay the seller a visit and make them answer a few questions on why they did it. A lot of these scammers hide behind there PC screens knowingly selling junk.! That would be a UA-cam vid I would love to see.
I had the same sort of thing done to me with a Laptop seller put that it post had a good battery and 8gb ram. NO no ram, battery wires had been cut and the battery connector was still plug in but no battery, screen cables and camera cables plus charger cable and Wi-Fi cables had all been cut.

Sadly, FleaBay is starting to get more crooks and people who seem to think they can stuff a bowling ball with garbage and sell it as a pro bowling ball. I had one not too long ago, a rare Roland MT-300S (Midi recorder with floppy storage). Seller swore up and down that it was in brand new shape. Low and behold, I open it, guess what? BOTH speakers were lying in the cabinet, the plastic mount posts were broken off and missing. And the floppy drive, someone had stuck a knife in (part of the blade was still there) and destroyed the R/W magnetic read write head. So one old 3.5in drive from a donor PC, bolts, screws, and a drill later and the machine is working again. All because a seller couldn't be bothered to check what he was sending.
But don't take it personal, it's definately not your skills that are in question, it's a seller's honestly and even if you can't get your money back, you should have reported this moron for trying to sling shit and pass it as functional. FleaBay is getting trashy because SOME sellers are just not happy with making an honest dollar/pound. And it's actually hurting repair technicians like yourself in the end, because our profession is on borrowed time as it is. Can't fix it anymore.
