I used to volunteer at a facility for old age veterans and there were a couple of 100% disabled veterans getting the equivalent of at least a thousand $ a wk, tax free, who send virtually their whole checks to these ladies in the Philippines. One i still run into, has never even met her and estimates he has already sent a half a million $, despite social workers and his sister trying to get guardianship. It seems that she is his motivation to keep him going, so maybe it is not so bad after all .

Setting boundaries is almost always a good idea. If the women doesn't except your boundaries it's a good idea to move on.

Hey Paul, I spent the last 8 mos. in the Philippines and me and a good friend were just joking about the exploitation you described going to the whynot. We call it being "the Mark" and noticed it's not exclusive to foreigners. We had dinner one night at a nicer restaurant and a table of about 18-20 locals came in to celebrate an infants birthday and we identified the older filapino gentleman at the end of the table as "the Mark" sure enough when they were all done he got the bill for 28K pesos and squawked about it as nobody else made any contribution or even offered to contribute whatsoever.

The ONE person paying is actually eastern culture. They do in Africa and Middle East too. It is a big burden and so unfair but that's how it goes and it is poverty phenomenon. They share. Next time whoever has the $ will pay. Poverty is disease

One of the first words a child learns and says is No! Don’t be afraid to say no, if they are truly into you it will show her not to ask you for things like the $100 usd handbag and if she leaves you then it shows her true side.

Good point Paul, with how you actually look "foolish" by overspending. I remember your story about how when you and Baby were still a new thing and she showed you that she could cook your favorite american breakfast with coffee that you liked from the restaurant. And she did it for a fractiin of the price. She is such selfless person ❤️

The word no sometimes is the only way to earn respect. Without respect there can be no love or even friendship. They just go hand in hand .

Hi Paul, so my LDR that I actually met in the Philippines is also on tic-toc and in a chat group was told that I probably wasn’t the right guy for her because my flight back to the Philippines stopped in Manila and that I probably had another woman there. I told her that that that’s where the flight ends! And to book a flight to Bohol while in the Philippines would save me hundreds of dollars. Social media ain’t so social. I ain’t on social media and I keep finding reasons to not be!!!
Thanks for another no nonsense video filled with straight goods.

Thank you Paul. Another excellent video on a much needed topic.
Your presentation of both expats being exploited and local woman being exploited was refreshing. As scamee (one who was scammed a few times -- but never for a house 😅), I can say from experience exploiters and scammers exist in all parts of the world (and, yes even in the dear old USA). But, I allowed myself to be taken advantage of .... shame on me.
The thing that hit me was the level of poverty, especially in Mindanao. I knew the poverty level was above 45% but I didn't understand the impact until I arrived. It is a harsh life, but filipinos are resilent.
Fantastic and informative video (as always).

Hey Paul… Another great video and subject… Your night out with the girls reminded me of the party’s we have had. We invite people to come, thinking it’s going to be husband and wife with maybe a kid or two. Upon arriving at the party you notice that the wife brought a sister or two and maybe their husbands or maybe an auntie or other relative or neighbor. A much larger group than you invited. We were always gracious to our guests, but over time, had to tell the people we had invited that they were the invited guests and we we’re trying to keep it a small party…

Great video Paul. It’s funny how a lot of guys (more so those who haven’t traveled a lot) will put more research into buying a car than into researching young Philipino female culture. I’m not just talking about tiktok, Instagram, etc, but the responsibility they hold to their family. My girlfriend is Filipino and is the oldest daughter. She has spent her life paying for her family. I can understand these girls who scammed the guy in the beginning of the video. I certainly don’t condone it. But we have to take on 100% of responsibility for our own intentions in order to be able to understand 10% of the intentions of some girls when it comes to dating. Thanks for sharing.

So much more helpful than so many other vloggers who promote dating sites and speak vaguely of other’s experiences and seductive stories not acknowledging it’s misleading men and ultimately causing harm. One such video was out today. Sad. Keep up the great work

They do not believe. And continue to pressure. I do the only thing I can and walk away. No one has ever given me a nickel. But everyone wants money from me.

Interesting stories with important lessons. I might point out that the lonelier and more down on himself a man feels, the more likely he is to be easily exploited. So, don't start out immediately searching for the love of your life. Give yourself time to heal, and develop the ability to tell your self "no, she will not work out in the long run." Also remember that money will not buy love and respect.

It's 100 percent the same here in Thailand, stupid with money = Buffalo. Smart with money = respect (That's different than being cheap and trying to take advantage of people). If a guy wants to show me pics of a girl I know he's new and still in tourist mode. If a guy want's to talk about food, where to get stuff from back home and how to get things done he's in expat mode. haha

I agree with your remark, that hardly any YTer talks about exploitation of Filipinas by foreigners (maybe I haven't scanned YT enough). En vogue now seems to be these uploads from foreigners, who "warn" other foreigners of all the "poor and treacherous" Filipinas, as if this is typical for only this country. This is another way to skew the view, mostly out of misunderstanding the culture and mentality here. Or because of arrogance, since "we are so rich compared to them moneywise". In this case, they deserve to be stripped.

  • @IrAbynormal

Paul, if the guy leads with his wallet, even the nicest woman will be tempted to get what they can. I think boundaries especially financial ones have to be adhered to. Indeed tough to do, when the prettiest thing you've ever see is right next to you but some not all, of these girls have very real financial needs of their own, if a guy easily presents a solution to them, once again even the nicest woman will be tempted to capitalize on it.

There is an old saying….”First time shame on you, second time shame on me!” If I allow it to happen to me twice, I deserve what happens to me. I can understand a guy who reaches retirement age, is lonely, miserable and misses female companionship. He probably feels life is hopeless so he goes to the Philippines and all of a sudden, is getting attention that he has not seen in decades. But at some point common sense has to avail itself to these guys and no matter how great she makes him feel, he has to learn to set some limits.

I had friends🙄invite me to a big dinner at one of their house. When i got there i realized i was the one paying for the full dinner for 15 and several of the woman would do the cooking. I told my friend who invited me to the house that they all got me this time but there will never be another time. I said i dont mind contributing to the meal but im not paying for everyone and i said i thought that was a chicken shit move last time. He apologized and promised that it wont happen again and it hasn't.
I decided to help out a really poor family and i bought them 50lbs of rice and bought the six children each a couple of outfits and paid for school lunches for all of them for a month. So two weeks later the oldest child knocks on my door and said her parents want their allowance lol 😂only in the PI. Needless to say that wasn't happening.
Then being a sucker still, i paid for a neighbor who has 5 children and the husband is killing himself trying to provide but he is a trike driver and leaves at dark and doesn't get home until dark. So i notice they have no electricity or water. So stupid is as stupid does. I pay for their water and electricity bill that both were 4 months behind. Well i told them to keep it quite and not tell a soul. So about 3 days go by and here comes the first of many many neighbors all holding up electric and water bills expecting me to pay their bills. no act of kindeness goes unpunished. So many neighbors no longer even speak to me, because i tried to explain, i did it for the children and many of these neighbors only have one maybe two children and some couples didnt have any. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Instead, she educated me on the ways of the Philippines, and has been my teacher, looking out for my best interests. It would be easy to be exploited, for many, until they're educated in the ways of the Philippines. Or they never learn... as they use the wrong head, and build another house...😂🤣

He might also have loved to build houses. I knew a guy who as a hobby built one sometimes two houses a year (in Finland). As long as he got his money back he was happy. He really just loved to build, in a way Strange

    DON'T GET INVOLVED!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT lend money under any circumstances and refer them to a bank with a straight face!!!!!!!!!!

I am an ATM for my girlfriend and her kids but I’m well aware of it. I do say no on occasion. I have a set amount I give them that covers their monthly expenses for rent, food, electric etc. All other requests I handle based on what I believe are reasonable. I also require receipts. A recent example was the toilet became unusable because the little boy had put something in it that couldn’t be retrieved. I had her go to the hardware store and I have video of the toilets and I decided which one we would buy. I also have video of the plumber installing the toilet. I do say no to any request to send money to her family. She works hard for her money everyday so I have no say in what she does with her earnings.
